Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy
Chapter 117 Understanding the Milky Way
It took the Guardians some time to properly attach the Ebony Hawk to their ship in order to travel safely. They originally wanted to loot it and sell anything they didn't need to replenish their supplies. But after some discussion, they rejected this initial idea.
They realized the possible benefits of having the Ebony Hawk as their second ship alongside the Benatar. This ship would be their main base, while the former would help to increase speed.
In the present, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Kraglin, and Gamora assist HK-47 in further examining the Ebony Hawk.
Most of the food and water they found had long since corroded or spoiled. There were a few guns, or blasters as HK called them, though they were also deteriorating and rusted, but they knew the raccoons could repair them, or at least be able to copy them. In terms of clothing, they saw some of the costumes had strange designs, but they stored them for later use.
Over time, the rest of the boat will need restoration and repair.
For now, though, Raccoon is investigating HK-47's deeper capabilities in hopes of finding out more useful information about their new destination, HK's home galaxy.
During the investigation, the raccoon discovered something interesting and found a compartment opening from the robot's chest.
"What exactly is going on?"
HK glanced down, "Ah, I think I know where Surik-sama placed the last of her possessions."
"What is this?" asked the raccoon.
"What are you talking about, raccoon?"
"Look what's in HK's chest."
After taking a look inside the assassin droid's chest, Gamora saw a faintly glowing blue cube inside the droid.
For a moment, Gamora thought she was looking at the Tesseract, but then realized it was the wrong size, with metal parts everywhere instead of being completely crystalline.
Upon closer inspection, Gamora had a...knowledge of what it was.
"I've seen this before."
"have you seen?"
"On my father's ship," she answered, "I don't know what it is exactly, but I've seen something like this on him." She grabbed the object in her hands and turned it over, examining it more closely, "But the one he had was in a pyramid shape… and was red, but the concept design looked almost the same."
HK-47: "Observation: You must be talking about the Sith Holodragon."
"Sith, holosaur, what?"
HK-47: "Explanation: A container that stores a vast amount of knowledge. Only selected people with certain abilities can access it." HK looked at the item in her hand, "This in your hand is a Jedi Holodragon. This belonged to my previous master - Metra Surik. Your father was a Sith."
"A Sith…" Gamora repeated the word, noticing something else vaguely familiar.
"What are Sith?" the raccoon asked.
"Enemy of the Jedi. Both groups have the same abilities, but have different opposing philosophies regarding the religion they follow."
"religion?"
"Correction: I wouldn't actually say religion. Just that they both follow this thing deeply because everything they do depends on it."
"That sounds silly," the raccoon pouted.
“Yes,” HK said. “I never paid much attention to it because it was boring, complicated and confusing.”
"This thing that the Sith and Jedi rely on..." Gamora asked HK to turn towards her. "What's it called? The Force, right?"
"Unexpected statement: Lady Gamora, I didn't know you knew so much about my galaxy, where are you from?"
Gamora sighed and leaned against the wall before explaining, "Not really. My father…he knows a lot about the entire universe. He mentioned it to me and my other 'siblings' a few times, about a galaxy where people used some unique power that was invisible."
"Fascinated: Your father must be a smart man."
Gamora sneered, "More like a madman."
"Madness and wisdom are two sides of the same coin. Master Raven once said."
"I like you so much, HK," the raccoon said excitedly, "but I have to stand with Gamora this time. Thanos is fucking crazy, destroying planets like they're nothing."
"Hmph... On my kill count, he can be considered a worthy opponent. Request: I want to defeat him and prove that I am better than him."
Gamora actually snorted, "HK, if you can kill my father, then you will surpass every known killer and assassin in the universe."
Looking up, HK said, "Challenge accepted."
Meanwhile, Raccoon had taken the holotragon and was examining it closely, "So is there anyone who can open this thing? Those force users you mentioned who can open it?"
"That's right," HK confirmed, "Only a Force user can open it. It's impossible for anyone else to open it by any other means, unless they destroy the holosaur and the data stored in it in the process."
"If I didn't hate them both so much, I would call my brother or father to open it." Gamora said with a wry smile.
"Q: Can your father use the Force?"
"Not necessarily. Father has a deeper understanding of this, and I see that the tools he uses do require the Force to some degree."
"Where are your brothers?" asked the raccoon.
"Honestly, haven't heard from him in years. No one knows where he is. Father sent him on a mission and he hasn't returned yet."
"Okay, let's not talk about the family drama anymore." The raccoon held up the holographic dragon and said to himself, "There must be a way to open it."
"Well, my fanatical brother figured out a way, and my father figured out a way," Gamora said, "so if they can do it, you can do it too."
The raccoon stared at the faintly glowing cube and scratched his head. "If you say so. Then I'll have to try it."
Star-Lord and Kraglin are looking at the map HK provided them with, and it does take them some time to properly learn the basic language of another galaxy.
For Star-Lord, it was like fulfilling another one of his fantasies after watching Indiana Jones: deciphering an unknown language and showing off to unsuspecting idiots.
In the process, HK provides the Guardians with a wealth of information about his home galaxy, from the vast array of alien species that inhabit it, to the major planetary worlds, to the governments and organizations that govern its many institutions.
This is pretty boring.
HK also thought it was boring and only focused on the important parts because those were what his past jobs required and his previous master had given him, especially the work of crime syndicates and bounty hunters.
