As they neared the top of the hill, they noticed that the buildings there looked more like the homes of the marauders.

"Looks like they're still here," Toby said, staring at the large spaceship parked next to the house.

"Okay, we need to split up and survey the area. Look for the number of predators and any other variables. Don't want a repeat of last time. Finn ordered; the last word was directed to Dax.

"Are you talking about last time? How did I know they were hiding a small team of battle droids?"

“Because you were too lazy to double check your assigned area. That’s why.

Dax muttered under his breath and parted ways with the other two, using the tall grass and trees or large enough bushes as cover and moving up the hill. From all three they heard chatter and laughter.

In Finn's area, he hid behind a large bush, his green armor helping him blend in further as he kept an eye on the group of attackers that were taking up residence in the house.

They were a motley bunch, so to speak. Humans, Twi'leks, and Weequays made up the majority of the attackers, but among them was a Dvoronian. He was the largest of the group, laughing boisterously as he downed a full glass of wine.

"Dax, Toby," Finn said over the comms. "How many do you have?"

"There's like fifteen on my side," Dax said, lying on his stomach, staring at the group of marauders.

"Seventeen," Toby added, crouching behind a thin tree on the right side of the hill at the entrance. "Two more have come out of the house."

"Okay, boys, this should be quick," Finn said, kneeling down and leaning forward slightly. "Watch for my signal."

Dax and Toby got ready, signaling to Finn that they were ready.

"Now," Finn shouted, firing a missile from his backpack. Dax and Toby did the same, and three missiles bombarded the front of the old house, the piercing explosions drowning out the sounds of pain from the attackers.

The protectors emerged from their hiding places; jetpack thrusters activated as they lifted off.

The few remaining Marauders were though taken out by the Mandalorian trio. Some managed to get their weapons and return fire at the flying Protector group, but due to their aerial advantage, it was easy to dodge their blaster fire.

The only real problem was the Dvoronian, as he roared a challenging blow with his large blaster rifle. The three exchanged glances, then shrugged after a moment, focusing all their firepower on the horned attacker, the combined attack knocking him down in seconds.

They got down to the surface and quickly scanned the area to make sure it was safe before they started looking at the bodies.

“These guys are equipped with some heavy equipment. Dax noticed he was carrying a well-made blaster rifle.

"But no training," said Toby.

"Wonder where they got all this equipment." Finn said loudly, looking at the weather-beaten house. "Any idea what this place is?

Finn cautiously entered the ramshackle house, pulling out a WESTAR-34 blaster pistol just in case.

The house was empty. The inside didn't look much better than the outside.

He peered around the corner into the room and saw a living room. There were chairs, shelves, and in the center of it all; a whole lot of...stuff.

Finn tilted his head to the side and took off his helmet, placing it on the table next to him as he walked over to it to examine it.

"A very primitive organizational system," he said sarcastically.

Hearing footsteps behind him, he looked behind him and saw Toby and Dax already entered the house.

"What did you find?" Dax asked.

Finn simply pointed at the pile, where his two friends stood around it.

"What is this?" Toby asked, walking over to a large pile of discarded materials abandoned by the attackers.

It was a collection of items, from clothing to blasters, old armor to figurines, and even a few books.

"It looks like the attackers couldn't get anything useful out of this junk," Finn said, grabbing a particularly large but badly damaged blaster rifle. "Do you think the forger can fix this thing? I like it very much.

“Depends on how damaged it is.

Dax stood on the other side of the pile, his eyes scanning what he assumed was mostly junk. None of it looked that important. Where did the attackers get something like this? More curiously, why did they carry it with them?

Dax noticed something unusual in the pile of books, he reached forward and pulled a book out from the pile.

These days, it’s rare to see an actual book, as everything is on data slabs.

Flipping the book over to the cover, Dax's eyes widened as he immediately recognized the symbol in the center of the old hardcover. He brushed his thumb over it.

This is the symbol of the Odo clan!

Carefully turning the book to the first page, he took a sharp breath.

"Canderus Aldo," Dax read in awe and disbelief. Impossible.

Turning to the next page, he saw a faded photo of a group of unique people standing side by side. There was a human, a Wookiee, a Twi'lek, a Cathal, and some kind of droid.

At the bottom of the photo was a scribbled note.

To our eternal friends, brothers and sisters, with whom we changed the galaxy.

Beginning to flip through the pages, Dax began to read every word his ancestors had written.

What many may not know is that in addition to sharing the legendary Mandalore's last name, he also shares his bloodline.

As Dax wandered through the book, his teammates were dealing with the real task at hand. They were so focused on their roles that they didn't notice Dax doing his part. It wasn't until they heard a soft "thump" coming from the room that they turned to Dax and noticed him picking up the book in shock.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Dax?"

Dax said nothing, but handed it to Finn and Toby. Dax waited to see their reactions. After a few minutes, they quickly had the same reaction Dax had before.

“This…this is. Toby stammered.

Finn was also shocked. "Dax, what..."

"We need to report this," Dax said.

"Don't be ridiculous," Finn said, reaching for his communicator.

"The call has been connected." Dax said.

After a long while, the image of the crystal appeared in front of them.

"What's going on? What's the emergency you need to call about? Are you having any problems?

"No."

Spall frowned in confusion. "So the mission is still ongoing, or..."

"No, it's done. We were just about to call you to report our findings.

"Have you noticed——"

"Unfortunately, no, Spur. But we have a head start on where he is," Finn informed. "Not only that, but we found something else you're sure to like."

"Like..."

"Guardian's Diary."

This made Spahr very surprised by this information. "Interesting.

“That’s what we want to know, but that’s not the point,” Dax said. “There’s something there that could prove beneficial to all of us.

"One is a schematic of a Basilisk war robot."

Spall was silent for a moment, and the Mandalorian clone looked at his companion in surprise.

“Is this a joke?

Dax laughed manically and shook his head, holding up the book to show him they weren't kidding. Spall couldn't help but stare at him for a moment in disbelief.

"It's all here, Spur," Finn said with a grin.

Spall thought some more about this new information. "It would certainly help boost our numbers and morale." Then he hummed. "It would give us some chance of fighting the enemy, anyway. Seems like good timing for what's about to happen."

The three of them looked at each other, not knowing what was going on.

"I was just going to call you three later to call off your search. I found what we were looking for. Head to these coordinates. I'll see you all there.

"Are you sure, Spur?" Finn asked.

Spall nodded.
