"As much as I enjoy seeing my friends, I must ask, what is the purpose of coming here?" Padmé asked curiously. "I thought you two would like to retire or have some time to rest after today's meeting.

Mothma and Organa looked at each other, then turned to look at Padmé, a slightly grim look on their faces.

"To be frank, Padmé, there is something that has been troubling me for some time." Organa said, frowning. "Mothma and I share a common concern."

Padmé looked back and forth between them, confused.

"what?"

“We met and spoke with Natasha Romanoff from The Avengers a while ago, if you remember.

Senator Naboo nodded.

"Do you remember her asking us about the beginning of the war?"

Padmé's lips curved downward as she thought for a moment.

A hint of recognition crossed Senator Naboo's face.

"Oh, yes, I almost forgot. Thank you for reminding me," Padmé said, taking the tea she had requested from the protocol droid. "Is there any reason you bring that up now?"

Mothma looked over to Organa, who had his arms crossed.

"You remember her asking where the Clone Army came from, didn't you?" Organa asked and Padmé nodded. "Well...it's been on my mind for weeks now, ever since my encounter with her. Frankly, it's been a completely neglected topic for far longer than it should have been.

"The outbreak and rapid escalation of this war has left us without the energy to think carefully, and we have been doing everything to prevent basic civil liberties from being taken away by the Supreme Chancellor," Mothma added.

Padmé was well aware of the subject and she found herself internally confused at the way the Chancellor was behaving.

He was always kind, patient, and willing to listen to any and all sides.

However, some of the actions he has taken in recent months are beginning to worry Senator Nab.

It felt as if there were a thousand missing pieces in this war, and as the war wore on, more and more of them kept piling up, leaving Padmé with a very vague understanding of what they were even fighting for at this point.

"Getting a search warrant for a clone facility will take time, especially with the war still raging," Organa said.

“There is no doubt that doing so would also draw unwanted attention, which could lead to a more unsavory situation,” Mossma added.

“Let’s not even begin to discuss the moral dilemma we face,” Organa said, his tone dark. “When people take a moment to think about our military, these clones were bred directly to wage war for the Republic. A slave army created out of thin air.”

“Last I knew; thousands of years ago, the Republic made slavery illegal.” Padmé said, a looming sense of despair settling over her.

A sense of dread settled over the three as they realized what the Republic had gotten themselves into in this war and their army itself.

The more they thought and discussed it, the less it made sense.

"We need to uncover the truth behind our military," Organa said after a few minutes of discussion.

"But where do we start?" Padmé asked. "You said it yourself, if we go directly to Shenye with a search warrant, someone will immediately target us."

“We need to start somewhere,” Mothma stressed, her eyes drifting to the window, where she saw the Jedi Temple in the distance. “Perhaps the Jedi Knights will be needed to assist in the investigation. If memory serves, they have their own people stationed in Shenno, overseeing training and development.”

“Yes…” Organa rubbed his chin, lost in thought. “Shaak Ti, I believe that’s the name.”

"Then we should contact her," Padmé said.

"So what are we going to do?"

"Let this Jedi system investigate, if possible, and uncover any irregularities," Mothma pointed out, though Organa shook his head.

“That’s easier said than done,” Bell said. “It will also lead to further suspicion.”

"We don't have much choice," Meng said, frowning.

“Then we seek help from third parties,” Padmé said, a gleam in her eyes. “Organizations that are only superficially affiliated with the Republic, but are actually independent.”

It took her two friends a long time to comprehend what she had just said.

"Do you think the Avengers can complete this investigation?" Mothma questioned.

“Natasha drew our attention, intentionally or not,” Padmé pointed out. “She was the one asking us about our knowledge of the clones, this war, and all the things that should have been asked from the beginning. It showed me that the Avengers had their own doubts from the beginning.”

"Do you think they'd be willing to accept something like this?" Organa asked, looking conflicted. "I'd rather not drag them further into this war. They've done a lot for the Republic, and their goal is to return home. Not get involved in a war that spans the galaxy."

"I know, and I don't want them to do this either," Padmé said seriously. "But on the surface, they are the best people for this mission.

“If we do ask them the question, it’s going to have to be covert and in a location where it won’t be completely conspicuous,” Mothma said firmly.

"Well, then my own villa would be perfect for that," Padmé said with a small smile. "At this point, I can consider my Avengers friends. If I call Captain Rogers and Natasha, at least that could be a start.

Organa nodded approvingly, a sentiment echoed by Mothma. "Of course. Do what you can, Padmé.

Senator Amidala simply tilted her head towards them both, taking a sip of her tea as her two friends left her office.

She turned to the window again and gazed upon the Jedi Temple, her hopes now resting on the unveiling of this new mission she and her senators had now given themselves.

Padmé knew well that this was a difficult task, especially in this war.

But it is a job that urgently needs to be done.

Her thoughts drifted to her friends Natasha and Hope, wondering what they were both doing right now.

The latter is with her boyfriend and friends at the moment.
