Rebirth: What to do if you fall into a wolf's den

Chapter 149 Confusion after Confirmation

The morning sun shone through the gap in the curtains and gently fell on Ji Yan's face. After she woke up, she pondered for the whole morning, her heart filled with complicated emotions.

She knew she had to make a decision, and no matter what the outcome, she needed to know whether she really had the life she had longed for.

She stood up, took a deep breath, and walked to Ji's and Fang's rooms. She stood at the door, took a deep breath, and knocked gently.

"Mom, Aunt Fang, I'm going to go out for a while and will be back soon. You don't have to worry." Ji Yan said with a smile.

Mother Ji raised her head and asked with concern: "Yan'er, what's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

"No, I just want to go out for some fresh air and buy some things." Ji Yan tried her best to make her voice sound more relaxed.

Fang's mother also came over and said, "Okay, then be careful on the road and come back early."

Ji Yan nodded, said "thank you" softly, then turned and left the room.

After leaving Fang's house, Ji Yan walked towards the nearby pharmacy with firm steps. Her heart was beating a little fast, but her eyes were unusually firm.

After entering the drugstore, she walked straight to the shelves, searching through the dazzling array of merchandise.

"Excuse me, do you have a pregnancy test stick here?" She mustered up the courage to ask the clerk.

The clerk smiled and nodded, pointing to a shelf: "Yes, there are several different brands and types here, you can choose according to your needs."

Ji Yan walked over. Although she didn't understand the differences between these products, she still picked a few according to her own feelings. Then she walked to the cashier, paid quickly, and left the pharmacy with the pregnancy test stick.

After leaving the pharmacy, Ji Yan did not go home immediately. She walked slowly along the street, the sun shining on her body, warm and cozy.

She didn't know what she felt at the moment, she seemed to be both afraid and looking forward to it. She was afraid that if she really had a child, she would be able to take on the responsibility; she was looking forward to the fact that maybe this was really a gift from God, allowing her to have a deeper bond.

But no matter what, she had to face it. She took a walk on the street to calm herself down a little. Then, she took the pregnancy test stick she bought and set off on her way home.

After Ji Yan returned home, she deliberately bypassed Ji's mother and Fang's mother who were chatting in the living room and quietly returned to her room. Her heart was beating so fast that it seemed to jump out of her chest.

She held the small box tightly in her hand, which was the pregnancy test stick she had just bought from the drugstore.

Ji Yan did not take the test immediately, but sat on the bed, letting the sunset outside the window shine on the floor of the room. Her mind was in a mess, and her thoughts were tangled like a tangled mess.

She thought of the past days and the five men.

Time passed by, and Ji Yan knew that she couldn't delay any longer. She took a deep breath, as if to absorb all her courage and strength into her body. Then, she slowly opened the small box and took out one of the pregnancy test sticks.

She walked into the bathroom and locked the door. She followed the instructions carefully and performed each action. Then, she sat on the toilet and waited quietly. The waiting time was always long, and she felt her heart was in her throat.

Finally, after a while, the result came out. Ji Yan looked at the two bright red lines on the pregnancy test stick, and her eyes instantly moistened. She really had a baby, a child of her own. But who was the father of the child? Among those five men, who was the father?

Ji Yan didn't know what kind of mood she should be in for a moment. She felt excited and scared, expectant and confused. She knew she had to face this reality, but she really didn't know how to face it.

She sat on the bathroom floor, letting the tears flow down, she didn't know how to tell her parents. She knew that this decision would change her life, but she also knew that she had to face it bravely.

……

Fang's mother and Ji's mother downstairs had already seen Ji Yan quietly returning home. They looked at each other and tacitly kept silent. But Ji's mother was still worried, so she decided to go upstairs to see her daughter.

Mother Ji walked upstairs gently and came to Ji Yan's door. She knocked on the door, then gently opened it and walked in. Ji Yan in the room seemed a little at a loss, holding a pregnancy test stick tightly in her hand, obviously thinking about something.

Seeing Ji's mother coming in, Ji Yan immediately stuffed the pregnancy test stick in her hand into the gap of the sofa cushion, trying to cover it up. Ji's mother saw it and had some guesses in her mind.

She walked gently to Ji Yan and asked softly, "Yan'er, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Ji Yan shook her head, but she didn't know how to start. She was afraid that Ji's mother would blame her. After all, this matter was too sudden and she herself was not ready.

But Ji's mother saw her daughter's hesitation. She gently stroked Ji Yan's hair and said softly, "Yan'er, no matter what happens, you must believe that your father and I are your strongest support."

Ji Yan felt a warm current in her heart when she heard her mother's words. She snuggled in her mother's arms and finally said softly, "Mom, I... I'm pregnant."

Although Ji's mother had expected this, she couldn't help but feel nervous when she heard the news. She looked at Ji Yan and asked softly, "Does the father of the child know?"

Ji Yan shook her head and said bitterly, "I don't know."

Mother Ji looked at her daughter distressedly. She knew how heavy a blow this incident was to Ji Yan. She asked softly, "Do you want to tell the child's father?"

Ji Yan immediately shook her head and said firmly: "I don't want to be involved anymore."

Mother Ji nodded. She understood her daughter's feelings. She asked the last question: "Yan'er, do you want this child?"

Ji Yan was stunned. She had never thought about this question. She looked at her mother with confusion in her eyes. Her mother knew that her daughter had some idea in her mind, but she didn't dare to confirm it.

She patted Ji Yan's shoulder gently and said, "Yan'er, think about it carefully. No matter what decision you make, I will support you."

Ji Yan looked at her mother's eyes, and a surge of courage surged in her heart. She knew that no matter what choice she made, she would not be alone. She whispered, "Mom, I will think about it carefully."

Mother Ji smiled and nodded. She knew her daughter had grown up and could face difficulties on her own. She patted Ji Yan's shoulder and said, "Okay, take a good rest. No matter what happens, don't forget that you still have me and your father."

After saying that, Ji's mother left the room and closed the door gently. Ji Yan sat alone in the room, her heart filled with complicated emotions.
