Rebirth: What to do if you fall into a wolf's den

Chapter 151 Xin Mujing's Showdown

Xin Mujing walked out of the study slowly, with a thoughtful look on his face. He knew that in order not to irritate his elderly grandfather, he had to handle everything that happened next carefully. So he walked straight to Uncle Fu who was busy in the living room.

"Uncle Fu, I have something to ask you." Xin Mujing's voice was low and steady.

Uncle Fu raised his head and saw Xin Mujing's serious expression. He put down his work and walked up to Xin Mujing: "Master, please speak."

"Do you know who sent the express delivery you received today?" Xin Mujing asked directly.

Uncle Fu frowned slightly, thought for a moment and then answered, "Someone rang the doorbell this morning. When I opened the door, I only saw a courier at the door and no one around. I looked around but didn't find any clues. Later I checked the surveillance and found that a child had left the courier at the door."

"Child?" Xin Mujing frowned, looking a little confused.

"Yes, a child who looked about seven or eight years old. He was wearing a hat and a mask, so his appearance could not be seen clearly." Uncle Fu added.

Xin Mujing nodded, indicating that he understood: "Thank you, Uncle Fu."

Uncle Fu looked at Xin Mujing with some worry in his heart. Although he didn't know what happened in the study, he could feel the tense atmosphere between the grandfather and grandson.

He couldn't help but remind him, "Master, I know there may be some misunderstandings between you and the old man. But the old man is old and his health is not as good as before. I hope you can communicate well and don't let the conflict deepen."

Xin Mujing nodded slightly, his eyes firm: "I understand, Uncle Fu. I will find a chance to have a good talk with Grandpa."

Uncle Fu nodded with confidence: "That's good. Master, are you going out?"

"Well, I have something to take care of." Xin Mujing replied.

"Then don't worry, I will take good care of the old man." Uncle Fu promised.

"Thank you for your hard work, Uncle Fu." Xin Mujing looked at Uncle Fu gratefully, then turned and left the Xin family's old house.

He knew that the road ahead would be full of unknowns and challenges, but he was ready.

After Xin Mujing left the old house, only Old Man Xin was left in the study. He was still holding the information about Ji Yan in his hand, his brows furrowed, as if he was thinking about something.

Just then, there was a gentle knock on the study door, breaking the silence.

Old Master Xin raised his head, a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes, and then he regained his composure. He cleared his throat and said, "Come in."

The door slowly opened, and Uncle Fu came in with a bowl of carefully prepared supplements. He placed the supplements on the coffee table in front of Old Man Xin and said gently, "Old Man, your health is important. Don't get upset over those things. This is the supplement I prepared especially for you. Please try it."

Old Master Xin glanced at the supplements, sighed softly, and said, "Uncle Fu, I know you mean well. But I'm not in the mood to eat these now."

As he spoke, he opened the lid of the tonic and slowly began to eat.

After eating a few bites, Mr. Xin seemed to have found someone to talk to and began to complain: "Mu Jing is getting more and more ignorant as he grows older. Now he wants to break off the engagement with the Yang family for Ji Yan. Tell me, how can this be allowed?"

When Uncle Fu heard this, he knew what was going on. It turned out that the reason why Xin Mujing and Old Master Xin had such a fierce argument in the study was because of Ji Yan.

He advised softly, "Old man, don't be anxious. The young master may have his own ideas and plans."

When Mr. Xin heard this, he became even more angry: "Plan? What plan? Are you going to lose face for our Xin family just for a woman who is entangled with other men?"

When Uncle Fu heard this, he couldn't help but be stunned.

But he quickly came to his senses and said comfortingly: "Old man, calm down first. Things may not be what you think. Perhaps we can investigate Ji Yan's background and situation first, and then make a decision."

After listening to Uncle Fu's words, Mr. Xin gradually calmed down. He thought about it and felt that what Uncle Fu said made sense.

So, he nodded and said, "Okay, then I'll trouble you to investigate. I want to see what kind of person Ji Yan is and whether it's worth it for my grandson to make such a decision for her."

Uncle Fu agreed immediately. He stood up, bowed respectfully to Mr. Xin, and said, "Don't worry, I will investigate it as soon as possible." After that, he turned and left the study.

After Fu Bo walked out of the study, he immediately began to investigate Ji Yan's matter. He knew that this matter was related to the reputation and future of the Xin family and must be handled with caution. He decided to start with Ji Yan's background and experience to see if he could find some useful clues.

……

Xin Mujing walked out of the courtyard of the old house. The breeze outside blew away some of the anxiety in his heart. He took out his cell phone and called his assistant.

"Hello, it's me, Xin Mujing." Xin Mujing's voice was steady and firm.

"Hello, Mr. Xin." The assistant's voice came from the other end of the phone, sounding respectful and professional.

"There is something you need to check immediately." Xin Mujing said bluntly, "Today the old house received a mysterious express delivery, and I want to know who sent it."

"I understand, Mr. Xin. I will immediately investigate the source of this express delivery." The assistant responded.

After hanging up the phone, Xin Mujing got into the car, tapping his fingers lightly on the steering wheel, wondering who was behind all this.

He knew that this was not just a simple courier, but might involve his relationship with Ji Yan. Although he was ready to let his family know about Ji Yan, this was not the way he wanted.

Thinking of this, Xin Mujing dialed the home phone again. It was Xin's mother's number.

"Hello, Mom, I'm Mu Jing." Xin Mujing's tone softened.

"Mu Jing, why did you call back suddenly? Is there something wrong?" Mother Xin's voice revealed concern and confusion.

"Mom, I have something to tell you. Are you home now?" Xin Mujing asked.

"Yes, I'm at home all the time. Just tell me what you want to say." Xin's mother replied.

"Okay, I'll be back now." After Xin Mujing finished speaking, he hung up the phone, started the car, and drove towards the Xin family villa.

In the Xin family villa, Xin's mother sat on the sofa, holding a cup of tea in her hand, but her heart was full of doubts. She didn't understand why Xin Mujing suddenly called back, and from his tone, it seemed that there was something wrong.
