Chapter 232 The Confused Werewolf Professor

Time flies like a horse, and time comes to night.

The Hogwarts restaurant was brightly lit, as if it were daytime.

Due to the arrival of the new professor today, Dumbledore specially convened all the teachers and students in the school at dinner time and held a small and warm welcome party, aiming to formally introduce the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Remus Lupin to everyone.

After an enthusiastic introduction, Lupin sat back in the teacher's seat somewhat awkwardly. Whether it was Dumbledore's intention or a coincidence, Lupin was arranged to sit next to Snape.

As soon as Lupin sat down, his eyes were involuntarily attracted to a black-haired boy who was laughing and chatting with his classmates at the long table. The outline of his eyebrows and his lively expression made him feel a familiar nostalgia, as if time had gone back and the figures of his old friends James and Lily were looming before his eyes.

However, this nostalgia did not last long, and soon his eyes widened in shock at the strange scene on the dining table in front of him.

"Hey, Nose... Uh, cough, Snape, have the Gryffindors been brainwashed by you? I saw them eating together with the Slytherins?!"

Lupin turned his head to look at Snape, who was concentrating on the food and oblivious to the surroundings, with a look of surprise and confusion on his face. He couldn't help but ask:

"If the nerds from Ravenclaw and the simple and honest guys from Hufflepuff get together, I wouldn't find it strange; if Ravenclaw and Slytherin have some overlap, I can barely accept it."

"But now, the brave and fearless Gryffindor Lion is actually talking and laughing with the people from the Slytherin Snake House?! Merlin's flowery pants, am I hallucinating?"

Snape wanted to ignore Lupin's words. He had no interest in paying any attention to this person whom he had always disliked. Especially when he heard the name that the other party almost blurted out, his anger rose quietly in his heart.

But when he heard the second half of the sentence, his eyes involuntarily fell on Draco first, and finally fixed on Horn, who was sitting next to Ron.

That’s right, tonight was just a casual welcome party, and there was no strict requirement to divide the seats according to colleges, so the students sat together with their familiar friends.

In the past, such a scene would have been simply a fantasy and unimaginable.

However, driven by Draco's passionate speech and a series of activities organized by Horn and others, such as the four-college snowball fight and the unique "College Test-taker Competition", the situation has quietly changed.

Although most of the senior Slytherin students still adhere to the traditional house barriers, Horn's class is different. Almost every student has made one or two close friends from other houses.

Snape noticed that Horn seemed to notice his gaze and waved his hand enthusiastically, but he had no expression on his face and did not respond. He just kept moving his hands. He elegantly picked up a piece of bright red braised pork with chopsticks, put it in his mouth, chewed it slowly and swallowed it, and then answered Lupin's question slowly:

"Sure enough, you are still as stupid as ever. Isn't it obvious? Gryffindor House has formed an alliance with Slytherin House."

pat!

Lupin froze instantly, as if he had been struck by a 100,000-volt electric current from a yellow-haired mouse. His neck, like a rusty mechanical device, slowly and little by little turned towards Snape, his eyes full of disbelief.

I thought to myself: Dumbledore once said that Hogwarts would bring me new surprises. Could this be the "surprise" he mentioned? ! But where is this "joy"?

Snape saw Lupin's reaction clearly, but still ignored it and continued to pick up a piece of braised pork and taste it contentedly.

Ron, who was sitting opposite Harry, leaned close to Harry and said in a low voice, "Harry, have you noticed that the new Professor Lupin has been staring at you since the introduction. Do you think that the curse of the Defense Against the Dark Arts class has become stronger? In the past, at most one professor was replaced once a semester, but this year, three professors have been replaced in a row."

Hearing this, Harry turned his head to look at Lupin, who looked a little strange because of Snape, swallowed the food in his mouth, and said softly:

"You noticed it too. I thought it was just my illusion. I also felt that the way Professor Lupin looked at me was very strange, just like the way Mrs. Weasley looked at you."

"As for the curse you mentioned that Voldemort cast during the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, I also think that it may have become stronger."

Horn, who was standing by, heard the conversation between the two and thought to himself: This is inevitable. After all, Professor Lupin is your father's half-brother.

Soon, dinner time passed quietly, and before Lupin even had time to recover from this series of shocks, the dinner was over.

His original plan to ask Harry to stay after dinner so that they could get to know each other was completely forgotten by the series of unexpected events.

After all, he had not yet had time to sort out and digest in his mind even the slightest bit of what Snape had said and what he had witnessed with his own eyes, the unbelievable Hogwarts that was so different from what he remembered.

When Lupin returned to his resting place, he still felt as if he was in an absurd and bizarre dream. Strange dishes, peculiar ways of getting along in the schools, and the completely unfamiliar scenes of Hogwarts kept emerging in his mind.

So, the next day, when Lupin taught the first Defense Against the Dark Arts class for Harry and his fellow first-year students at Gryffindor House, he was still very sleepy and kept yawning.

But when Lupin entered the classroom, he discovered a strange phenomenon, that is, the students of Gryffindor seemed to be very happy.

But thinking of my current identity, I asked the students to introduce themselves one by one.

Then, Lupin expressed his curiosity about what his predecessor, the former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, had taught the students in class: "Before today's class begins, I would like to ask what methods of defense against the dark arts did you learn during the orientation?!"

As expected, Hermione's "nerd hand" was raised up quickly and decisively like a flash of lightning, and she looked so anxious as if she was afraid that the teacher couldn't see her.

Then, with Hermione's clear and logical answers, Lupin gradually understood the situation.

It turned out that he had two predecessors this year, one was Lockhart who disappeared inexplicably, and the other was Snape who had just taught the class not long ago.

Lockhart mainly taught some theoretical knowledge and the defensive magic "Armor", while Snape focused on teaching how to identify and kill werewolves. Lupin certainly knew something about these situations, after all, he had heard some of them outside the door before.

In view of this, Lupin thought for a moment and decided not to teach new content in this class.

He smiled slightly, trying to start a conversation with the students in a relaxed atmosphere: "Then let's relax for a while in this class and have a casual chat. I am also quite interested in the changes in Hogwarts in recent years. You may wish to share your thoughts with me."
