Hogwarts lazy snake

Chapter 41: The Venom of the Snake King

Professor Snape was calling the roll with the parchment roll, and he seldom looked up at the little wizards in the academy. His eyes were cold and empty, reminding people of two dark tunnels.

Suddenly seeing a name on the roster, Professor Snape slowly raised his head and looked at the little wizards sitting in their seats.

His eyes swept across the classroom, and when he saw Harry Potter, a complex emotion flashed across his eyes.

Harry Potter, the boy with a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead, reminded Professor Snape of James Potter. Professor Snape felt disgusted, as if he saw the figure who always opposed and played tricks on him in school.

But when he saw Harry's green eyes that were exactly the same as Lily Potter's, he felt a pang of guilt deep in his heart. Lily, his former... friend, had become estranged from him because of his pursuit of the Dark Arts and eventually died tragically at the hands of Voldemort.

All these memories intertwined in Professor Snape's mind, making his face even gloomier.

"Oh, look who is this!?" He raised his lips slightly and said in a tone that was a little ambiguous: "Harry! - The famous Harry Potter!"

"He actually came to Hogwarts!"

Snape's tone was like a cooler, making the already cold and damp Potions classroom even colder. The young wizards from the two academies couldn't help but pull their robes closer to their bodies, as if this could dispel the invisible chill.

"You are here to learn the precise science and art of potion making."

Without waiting for Harry's response, Snape put down the list, tugged at his robes and spoke directly in a voice that sounded like a normal conversation, perhaps just slightly higher than a whisper.

But the entire Potions classroom was filled with every word uttered by Snape, allowing every little wizard to hear clearly every word he said.

Unlike Professor McGonagall's serious and intimidating appearance, Professor Snape seemed to have the deterrent power to keep the classroom in order effortlessly just by standing there.

"Since there's no silly waving of wands here, many of you won't believe this is magic."

"I don't expect you to truly appreciate the beauty of the simmering pot with white smoke and bursts of fragrance. You don't really understand the magical power of the liquid flowing into people's veins to make people's hearts and minds excited and confused..."

Having said this, Professor Snape paused, and his voice seemed to become a little deeper.

"I can teach you how to improve your reputation, create glory, and even prevent death - but there must be one thing, that is, you are not the kind of idiots I often meet."

Horn, who was sitting next to Draco, looked at Professor Snape on the stage and couldn't help wondering: Does the Snake King's opening speech have to be repeated in the new class every year?

It should be.

But before Horn could continue, he heard Snape ask a question in his unique voice and called Harry.

"Potter!" Snape called Harry in a long voice, and suddenly asked: "What will I get if I add powdered daffodil root to wormwood infusion?"

Harry, who was holding a quill to record what Professor Snape said, was caught off guard when he heard the professor calling his name and saying what kind of solution to put the grass root powder into.

Harry screamed in his mind, I don't know, wait!

Suddenly I remembered that Ron and I had been forced to read books in the library for two days under the guidance of Draco and Hermione. It seemed that there was some root powder, narcissus root powder, and wormwood infusion. Yes, that's it.

Snape saw Harry Potter standing there in a daze, curled his lips in contempt, and was about to speak.

"I know, sir." Harry immediately said out loud what he remembered: "Daffodil root powder and wormwood can be boiled together to make a very powerful sleeping potion, which is... a dose of life and death water!"

After shouting it out, Harry looked at Professor Snape on the stage nervously. After all, although he remembered it like this, whether there was any mistake or not depended on the person above.

"Tsk, tsk - it takes so long to answer such a simple question. It seems that Mr. Harry's reputation needs to be further studied~"

Snape deliberately ignored Hermione's raised arms sitting next to him, and said in a veiled way: "Let me ask you another question. If I ask you to find me a bezoar, where would you go to find it?"

When Horn saw Harry's answer, he looked at Snape with interest and said to himself: You never expected that, dear Dean!

At the same time, I saw Hermione raising her hands high without leaving her seat, as if to say that she knew and asked Snape to call her. However, I guess she will be called by Snape soon.

However, Harry had no idea what bezoar was. After all, it was not easy for him to remember the answer to the previous question. Now he really couldn't remember this one. After all, he was not as good as Hermione and Horn.

Helplessly, he could only look at the people outside the venue as quietly as possible, but Professor Snape seemed to be angered by his action.

He also followed the direction of Harry's gaze and said mercilessly, "So, the famous Harry~pot! You don't know the problem, and you actually want to seek cheating from other wizards outside the venue? Huh?"

But when Snape saw Horn sitting lazily in his seat and looking at this side with interest, the anger in his heart was instantly ignited.

"Oh~ It seems that our classmate Nicholas, you think you have mastered all the knowledge of potions so that you can be so lazy in my class?" Professor Snape's voice was as cold as the wind blowing out of an ice cellar.

Horn, who was just watching the show, suddenly heard his name and saw Snape looking at him with an expressionless face.

I thought I had heard it wrong and was just watching the show. Why did Snape target me? Horn even asked Draco beside him for confirmation.

Draco saw Horn's expression and the increasingly cold expression of his own dean, and quickly said, "Yes! You heard it right, stand up and answer quickly, or Professor Snape will scold you!"

Knowing that he had indeed eaten the melon, he immediately stood up and replied: "Professor, I was just thinking about what you said."

Professor Snape snorted coldly: "Thinking? I think you are sleepwalking! I have heard other professors mention your talent. Maybe this can make you lazy at times, but the world of magic is cruel. Those who don't work hard will eventually be eliminated."

"Since you just said you were thinking about the question I asked, let me ask you, where do you need to find a piece of bezoar?"

Horn didn't even bother looking for the answer in his mind when he heard the question, not to mention that he had gone over it in his mind when he asked Harry just now. He blurted out, "Bezoar is a kind of stone taken from the stomach of a cow. It has a very strong detoxifying effect."

Professor Snape heard Horn give the answer so quickly and did not let him go. "What is the difference between Aconitum naviculatum and Aconitum davidianum?"

"Aconitum napellus and Aconitum wolfsbane are the same plant, collectively known as Aconitum. The flowers of Aconitum can be used to make potions, and its leaves are highly poisonous." Horn seemed to have known in advance that Snape was going to ask a question. He gave the answer as soon as he finished asking the question, and did the same for the next few questions.

"Blackroot..."

"Blackroot.....cancels magic when eaten....a plant with black stems and white flowers..."

"How do you make a potion to treat boils? What do you need?"

"Potion for curing boils, ingredients: dried nettle; venomous snake fang; horned slug; porcupine quills... Pink smoke rises from the cauldron..."
