In American comics, drawing cards reveals wave-particle duality
Chapter 251 Nocturne
The Kent Farm was immersed in quiet darkness under the cover of night, and the starlight and moonlight cast a layer of silver glow on the vast wheat fields.
Clark and Lois had just finished a day's work and drove three hours from Metropolis to this peaceful countryside.
Martha was going to town to pick up some custom-made ingredients from Old Ford today, so she baked an apple pie before leaving. The sweet smell filled the kitchen.
Clark walked out to the porch with two cups of hot cocoa.
The warm lights of the farmhouse illuminated the porch. Lois changed into Clark's large plaid shirt, and the two of them snuggled in the rocking chair on the porch.
The cool summer breeze caressed their faces.
“Welcome to where I grew up.”
“The nights here are always very peaceful.”
Clark whispered, running his fingers tenderly through Lois' hair.
“Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, there are only the chirping of insects and the sound of the wind.”
Louise rested her head on his shoulder:
"No wonder you always say this is your safe haven."
She took a sip of Clark's freshly brewed hot cocoa.
"Martha makes such a great apple pie, I have to ask her for the recipe."
"Mom said you can come and learn anytime."
Clark said with a smile.
“She was so happy that finally someone could share her baking secrets.”
But the tenderness between the two did not last long.
Because at this moment, a faint buzzing sound pierced the night sky. The frequency was extremely low, but Clark's keen hearing immediately caught the abnormality.
"what happened?"
Lois noticed Clark's sudden alert look.
At this moment, the electrical appliances in the farmhouse began to malfunction.
The TV flickered with snow, the radio emitted a harsh noise, and even Louise's cell phone screen began to distort.
"Something is very wrong—"
Clark frowned and looked out the window.
"Something is interfering with the electromagnetic signal."
He gently pushed open the porch screen door and motioned for Louise to stay inside.
In the night wind, the strange buzzing sound became clearer and clearer.
Clark's intuition was not wrong.
Soon, a faint blue light suddenly illuminated the wheat field. Clark looked up and saw a beetle-shaped aircraft slowly landing on the farm ground.
The silver hull shone with a metallic luster in the moonlight. The smooth curves, hexagonal armor plates, and the unique energy core design on the bow had an obvious Kryptonian style.
"Clark?"
Louise's worried voice came from behind.
“Ah—what is this?”
She had made it out onto the porch and saw the UFO.
"Stand behind me."
Clark immediately turned around, protecting Louise behind him, his eyes became serious:
"This is a Kryptonian spaceship, and they are coming for me."
He could make out the symbols carved into the hull, the insignia of the Kryptonian military.
The energy field on the surface of the spacecraft rippled and faded like water, and the blue particle light gradually dissipated in the night.
The hatch slid open silently, releasing a silver halo from inside the spacecraft.
A slender figure slowly walked out along with the light.
Fiora was wearing a dark combat uniform specially made for the Kryptonian military. Precise energy patterns were faintly visible along the curves of the armor, outlining her figure.
The Krypton family emblem on the chest glowed faintly under the starlight.
Under the translucent helmet visor, her shoulder-length black hair fell neatly inside the visor, highlighting her cold and angular face.
Under Jonathan's strong complaints and obstructions, Fiona finally kept the long hair that stabilized her beauty, instead of the outrageous hairstyle that is similar to that of the female micro-businessmen.
Her eyes were sharp, but there was a hint of nostalgia as she looked across the land of Kent Farm.
But this nostalgia was fleeting, and soon she turned her attention to Clark in front of her and Lois behind her.
Fiora's gaze lingered on Louise for a moment, and a trace of imperceptible contempt flashed in her eyes hidden behind the mask.
In her opinion, this Earth woman in a plaid shirt hiding behind Carl was far from the partner she thought the heir to Krypton's advanced civilization deserved.
"Kal-El...I'm Fiora, General Zod's adjutant."
Her voice was clear and solemn, with a faint smile on the corner of her mouth.
“It’s time to go home.”
She extended her hand gracefully, making the Earth invitation gesture she had learned from the information Jonathan provided.
"Please come with me."
Clark frowned slightly, but before he could say anything, Fiona turned her gaze back to Louis.
"This lady needs to come with us, too."
Although her tone was polite, it held no room for rejection.
"We know she knows a lot about you."
Clark could feel Lois nervously grasping the back of his shirt.
She clutched Clark's arm tightly.
"No Clark, don't go with her, it could be a trap."
There was obvious worry in her voice, and her eyes flickered between Fiora and the blue-glowing ship.
Clark turned and placed his hands tenderly on Lois' shoulders.
Under the moonlight, his eyes were firm:
"Louise, listen to me, they are my people, they can't do anything to me."
Louise bit her lip, still looking worried:
"but……"
"Relax."
Clark interrupted her gently.
Fiora, who was standing next to him, watched this scene, her expression behind the mask still remaining indifferent.
This was an extremely rare and disgusting scene, and she rarely saw it even on Krypton.
But in order to facilitate the completion of the task, Fiona explained:
"Don't worry, we won't hurt anyone, this is just a normal meeting."
"All right……"
Just before boarding the Beetle spacecraft.
Clark took advantage of Fiona's inattention and seized this fleeting opportunity, quickly approached Louise and gently held her hand.
"Louise..."
Clark whispered in her ear, his voice so soft it was almost inaudible.
"This is the master key to the Kryptonian ship, which contains the consciousness of my father, Jor-El.
I always carry it with me, just in case this day comes.”
After saying this, he placed the crystal-shaped key that was shining with a faint silver light steadily into Louise's palm.
Louise understood and clenched the key in her hand, feeling its slightly cool touch, and quickly slid it into the secret pocket on the inside of her coat.
But when Fiona turned around again, it was as if nothing had happened.
"Please wear this."
Fiona took out a breathing mask of the same style and handed it to Louise.
A faint silver-blue glow flows on the surface of the transparent mask, and the sophisticated filtering device is hidden beneath the smooth lines.
"You Earthlings may not be able to adapt to the environment inside the spacecraft. This mask can help you regulate your breathing."
