The Impossible Sequel to Genshin Impact

Chapter 17 Joining the Team

In the vast desert, Ying walked forward with difficulty. Her steps became heavier and heavier, and her body became weaker and weaker. When she was conscious, she saw a figure in front of her, and finally she fell down. She vaguely felt a pair of warm hands holding her up.

When Ying woke up, she found herself in a strange place. She saw a man and a foreigner talking, their expressions were serious and focused. The man was tall and had a resolute face, while the foreigner had deep eyes and a high nose bridge. Ying didn't understand their language, but she could feel that they were discussing something important.

Ying tried to sit up, but she was too weak to move. She could only watch the two men quietly, trying to read some information from their expressions and movements. Their conversation seemed to last for a long time, and finally the man turned around and walked towards Ying. His eyes were full of concern and tenderness, and he asked in a blunt tone, "How do you feel?"

Ying tried to force a smile and nodded to show that she was fine. She looked at the stranger with gratitude, and a warm feeling surged in her heart. In this barren desert, his appearance was like a beacon, giving Ying hope and strength. He said to Ying in a stiff language, "My name is Jack, what's your name and where are you from?" Ying said softly, "My name is Ying, I'm from Teyvat, do you have water and food here? I'm starving to death." Ying looked at Jack and another person and said, "Wilts, this lady is Ying, from the continent of Teyvat, please come and prepare a steamed bun, bread and some water." The man said, "Yes, Captain, I'll be there right away." Soon after, Wilts brought food and water and placed them in front of Ying.

Looking at the food and water in front of her, Ying no longer cared about her image and started to eat voraciously.

As she ate, she felt the strength in her body returning little by little.

Jack watched her silently from the side, with a barely perceptible sympathy flashing in his eyes.

"Thank you for saving me." After eating, Ying said gratefully.

"You're welcome. This is what we should do," Jack replied. "But this is deep in the desert and very dangerous. Why are you here alone?"

After hearing this, Ying hesitated for a moment, but still told him about her experience of being lost in the desert, and also mentioned her desire to find something.

After listening to this, Jack was silent for a while, and then he said: "I understand your situation, but it is very dangerous to act alone in the desert. If you are willing, you can join our team, which may be safer."

After that, Jack added: "Besides, we are now on an exploration mission. If your destination is also where we are going, wouldn't that kill two birds with one stone?"

Hearing this, Ying felt a little moved. She felt that she had finally found a glimmer of hope in this strange place.

So she gladly accepted Jack's proposal and expressed her willingness to join their team.

Jack said to Wilts, "Wilts, prepare a bat uniform and a gun for her." Wilts nodded immediately and ran into the camp quickly. His movements were very agile, as if he was used to such tasks. Jack looked at Wilts's back as he left, and secretly sighed in his heart, "This guy is always so efficient." Then, Jack turned his head and looked at the woman beside him, with a hint of tenderness in his eyes. He knew that this woman would become a member of their team, and he would do his best to protect her safety. At the same time, Jack also understood that this woman had great power, but he was not sure whether this power would pose a threat to them. Therefore, he needed to be vigilant at all times and ensure that the team members could trust and support each other. Jack said to Ying, "Let's go to the car later." Jack pointed to the row of armored vehicles. Ying followed Jack to the car, and the people in the car cast curious eyes at her. Jack briefly introduced Ying to everyone and arranged for her to sit in the co-pilot seat. The vehicle started and drove into the depths of the desert.

Along the way, Ying quietly observed the surrounding environment. She found that the team was very professional, everyone performed their duties and cooperated well. Jack communicated with other vehicles through the intercom from time to time, directing the direction of the entire team.

As the sky gradually darkened, the team stopped to set up camp. Ying helped to set up the tent, and she felt that she was gradually integrated into the team. After dinner, everyone sat together, and Jack began to arrange the tasks for tomorrow.

"Our goal is an ancient ruin ahead, which is said to hide a huge secret." Jack said, "Everyone should remain vigilant and be prepared to deal with possible dangers at any time."

Hearing this, everyone's expression turned serious. They knew that this operation was full of challenges, but they also understood its importance.

Ying's heart was shocked. She felt that what she was looking for might be in the ruins. She secretly made up her mind to perform well and try to find the answer.

The next morning, the convoy continued on its journey. After several hours of bumpy ride, it finally reached its destination - an ancient ruin surrounded by the desert.

There was a huge stone door at the entrance of the ruins, which was engraved with mysterious symbols and patterns. Jack led everyone to carefully push open the stone door and walked into the ruins.

It was pitch black inside, with only a faint light coming through the cracks above the head. The air was filled with a stale smell, making people feel depressed.

"Be careful!" Jack whispered, "There may be a trap or a machine here."
