The CEO's 100 Billion Bride: The Secret War of the Rich
Chapter 7 Aftershocks of the Fall
Huo Yanshen's car slowly stopped in front of the Su family's villa. Su Wanwan sat woodenly in the passenger seat, her eyes empty, as if her soul had left with her father.
"Miss Su," Huo Yanshen called softly, "We are here."
Su Wanwan woke up as if from a dream and nodded mechanically. She reached out to unbuckle her seat belt, but found that her hands were shaking uncontrollably.
Huo Yanshen didn't say anything, but silently helped her unbuckle her seat belt.
"Thank you." Su Wanwan whispered, her voice so hoarse that it almost didn't sound like her own.
"If you need help, feel free to contact me." Huo Yanshen handed her a business card.
Su Wanwan took the business card, forced a smile, then opened the car door and walked towards the villa.
As soon as she reached the door, the gate of the villa was suddenly opened. Li Yujie rushed out and hugged her daughter.
"Wanwan! Your father...he really..." Li Yujie choked and couldn't finish her words.
Su Wanwan felt her heart being tugged at. She held back her tears and gently patted her mother's back: "Mom, let's go in first."
In the living room, the TV was still broadcasting the news of Su Yuntian's suicide. On the screen, reporters were fiercely discussing this incident that shocked the whole city.
"Turn it off!" Su Wanwan almost yelled.
Li Yujie was startled and quickly turned off the TV. The room instantly fell into silence.
Su Wanwan helped her mother sit on the sofa, then knelt in front of her and held her hand: "Mom, listen to me. Dad...he's gone. But we can't just collapse like this. We still have a lot of things to do."
Li Yujie looked at her daughter with tears in her eyes, as if she did not fully understand what she said.
At this moment, the doorbell suddenly rang. Su Wanwan stood up vigilantly and saw a group of reporters standing outside through the peephole.
“Damn it!” Su Wanwan cursed in a low voice. She turned to her mother and said, “Mom, go upstairs and rest first. I’ll take care of it.”
Li Yujie nodded and went upstairs with the help of the servant.
Su Wanwan took a deep breath and opened the door. Instantly, countless microphones and cameras were pointed at her.
"Ms. Su, can you tell us why your father committed suicide?"
“What is the connection between the bankruptcy of Su Group and this tragedy?”
"Are you aware of the company's suspected financial fraud?"
Facing the reporters' barrage of questions, Su Wanwan suppressed her grief and anger and said calmly: "Dear journalist friends, I understand your professional ethics. However, my father just passed away, and my family and I need time to grieve. Please give us some privacy. If there is any new development, I will hold a press conference. Thank you."
After saying that, she closed the door without hesitation and ignored the reporters' continued questioning.
Back in the living room, Su Wanwan slumped on the sofa, feeling that all the strength in her body had been drained. She closed her eyes, and the scene of her father falling from the building reappeared in front of her. That scene would probably be engraved in her memory forever.
"Miss," Uncle Zhang, the housekeeper, walked over softly, "The police station called and said... that the master's body is ready for collection."
Su Wanwan suddenly opened her eyes, and a wave of grief surged into her heart. She held back her tears and nodded: "I understand. Uncle Zhang, please arrange for someone to handle it."
"Yes, miss." Uncle Zhang hesitated to speak, and finally sighed and left.
Su Wanwan stood up and walked to her father's study. It still looked the same as when Su Yuntian was alive, with documents neatly arranged on the desk and family photos hanging on the wall. Su Wanwan looked at her father's bright smile in the photo and tears finally came out of her eyes.
“Dad,” she murmured, “why did you do this? Why did you leave me and Mom?”
Suddenly, she remembered her father's last words: "Don't trust anyone." What did this sentence mean? Was the bankruptcy of the Su Group and her father's suicide really just simple mismanagement and guilt?
Su Wanwan wiped away her tears and began to look through her father's documents carefully. Perhaps the truth was hidden in these papers.
At this moment, her cell phone suddenly rang. It was an unfamiliar number.
"Hello?" Su Wanwan answered the phone.
"Ms. Su," a deep male voice came from the other end of the phone, "I have some important information about your father. If you want to know the truth, come to the abandoned factory in the old city at 8 o'clock tonight. Remember, don't tell anyone."
Before Su Wanwan could answer, the other party hung up the phone.
Su Wanwan held the phone, her heart beating faster. Was this a trap or did someone really know the truth? She hesitated for a while, but finally decided to go to the appointment. In order to find out the truth, she was willing to take the risk.
At 7:50 in the evening, Su Wanwan drove to the agreed location. The abandoned factory was surrounded by silence, with only the occasional barking of dogs in the distance.
As soon as she got off the car, she heard footsteps behind her. Su Wanwan turned around and saw a man wearing a hat and a mask walking towards her.
"Ms. Su," the man said, his voice the same as on the phone, "you are very brave."
Su Wanwan looked at him warily: "Who are you? What do you know?"
The man looked around, then lowered his voice and said, "Your father's death was not a simple suicide. The bankruptcy of the Su Group was not an accident. There is a huge conspiracy behind this."
Su Wanwan was shocked: "What conspiracy?"
"I can't say too much," the man said cautiously, "but I can tell you, check the Magnolia Society. There should be clues in your father's notebook. Remember, be careful of everyone around you, especially..."
At this moment, a gunshot was heard in the distance. The man stopped talking abruptly, and blood gushed out of his chest.
"No!" Su Wanwan screamed in horror and subconsciously supported the staggering man.
The man grabbed Su Wanwan's hand with difficulty and said with his last bit of strength: "Be careful... Huo..."
Before he could finish his words, the man took his last breath.
Su Wanwan stood there in a daze, her hands covered in blood. She knew that she had just witnessed a murder. And the person who was killed was probably the only one who knew the truth.
Su Wanwan came to her senses when she heard sirens in the distance. She quickly wiped the blood off her hands, jumped into the car and left the scene.
On the way home, Su Wanwan's mind was in a mess. What could Yulan be? What clues were in her father's notebook? And, was the last thing that person wanted to say "Be careful of Huo Yanshen"?
Everything became confusing, but Su Wanwan was sure of one thing: her father's death was not simple. There was a huge conspiracy behind it, and she had been involved in it unknowingly.
After returning home, Su Wanwan immediately rushed into her father's study and began frantically searching for her notebook.
