Reborn Soul Master: The Rogue's Counterattack
Chapter 12 Chapter 1
Following the students' shouts, all 15 teams arrived, and after a while, a portal appeared at the entrance of the auditorium. Then, the candidates began to stumble out of the portal.
They looked just as miserable as the qualified candidates who came in before them.
His clothes were covered in blood and dirt, and had wounds of varying sizes.
Most of them had sad expressions and seemed frustrated by the fact that they were eliminated.
"Move aside, I'm injured!"
"Send the injured to the infirmary immediately!"
There were also candidates who were carried out by students, and those scenes looked quite tragic.
Soon, the portal closed. Instructor Belid, who finally came out of the portal, looked at the eliminated candidates and said:
"You've been eliminated. Although there are many injured, there are no deaths. You're lucky."
There were no words of comfort. Instructor Belid said to the eliminated people in a colder tone:
"Please follow the students' instructions and leave the academy quickly. Thank you for your hard work."
She didn't say much.
Then, Instructor Bellid turned around and left immediately.
"Those who are eliminated, please follow us!"
Afterwards, the students of the academy walked out of the auditorium with those who were eliminated.
"I am happy for the 45 candidates who passed the exam I prepared for. You have worked hard, congratulations."
Soon, Instructor Bellid walked up to the podium in the auditorium and said with a smile.
She began her speech with a different atmosphere than before.
“It’s not easy to quickly establish rapport with someone you meet for the first time, but you did a great job.”
As she said, candidates were very confused in the unexpected situation.
They must choose teammates from people they have never met before and build rapport with strangers to cross the monster habitat.
And you also have to find the magic scroll, which is a rather difficult and tricky exam.
"Once you become a hero, you will encounter more unexpected situations than this. I hope you can handle them well, just like you did in this exam."
Hearing her words, the candidates seemed to agree and nodded.
"It looks like this exam is going to be quite difficult."
However, Cardin and his companions, who had passed the test before encountering the monster, could not empathize with him, and they listened to Belid's words with expressionless faces.
"Now, my part is over, and only the Guardian's test remains."
As she continued, the tired-looking candidates' eyes began to flicker.
“As long as you graduate from here, you can start a new life.”
"Now my civilian life is over. I want to teach those guys who looked down on me a lesson."
"Once we get over this hill, it will be over."
The college has 32 admission places.
If 45 more of the 13 people are eliminated, they can enter the best academy in the kingdom.
This fact inspired the candidates' fighting spirit.
Seeing the high morale of the candidates, Instructor Belid said with a smile:
"By the way, the person in charge of the final exam - the Guardian Exam - is Lord Gilbert."
As she spoke, tension filled the auditorium again.
Guardian. The guardian of the kingdom, one of the seven heroes, protecting the country from the demons.
The fact that as long as he approved, they could get in made the atmosphere even more tense.
"We'll give you a little time to rest and check before the test."
Hearing this, the candidates started preparing for the exam in their own way.
"Guardian. See you soon."
While everyone was busy preparing for the exam, Cardin sat in his seat lost in thought.
His fists clenched involuntarily.
He couldn't help but feel a chill run down his body as he thought about facing off against one of the Guardians who had killed Charlotte.
"calm."
Cardin took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
"Don't show emotion."
Although anger was building inside him, he tried to suppress it.
Anger can't solve any problems. With his current strength, he can't even launch a decent attack, let alone fight against the guardian.
"You can't take revenge unless you surpass your father."
Unless you become a necromancer who surpasses Charlotte, revenge is just empty talk.
"Don't forget your goal. Now it's not about revenge, but hiding your identity and accumulating strength."
It's not time yet, Cardin told himself, trying to suppress his anger.
Just thinking about the Guardian made him angry, how much more angry would he be if he actually faced him?
Cardin had no intention of showing any hostility in the exam that might be misunderstood.
He just needed to pass the test and not draw any attention to himself.
"We cannot let our plans be ruined by reckless actions."
Although it is not easy to hide his feelings in front of the object of revenge, he must try to do it.
He had to face the guardian without any emotion. If he showed anger, it would cause unnecessary misunderstandings.
As Cardin closed his eyes and tried to calm his anger.
"What bad luck, I met a nasty guy like you again. It seems you are lucky?"
Someone comes over and speaks to Cardan.
He opened his eyes and looked up to see the blond man, "Leden", who had suggested the team formation to Cardan before the first exam.
“This guy passed, too.”
His arrogant self-esteem hides strength. Cardin shrugged and looked at Leiden.
"What's wrong? Why does this guy have such cold eyes?"
Just when Cardan was trying to suppress his anger, Leiden appeared, with a hint of coldness still in Cardan's eyes.
"What a rude fellow. How dare a civilian look at me like that?"
Although he felt threatened temporarily, his pride was hurt. Leiden smiled grimly and said, "I hope your luck will continue in the next exam. I don't know if a humble commoner can pass the Guardian's exam."
Leiden said sarcastically, but Cardan's eyes did not waver at his words. "Are you blessing me? Thank you so much." Facing a conceited young noble, Cardan just felt troubled. He had no interest in arguing with him, and just showed a bored expression and ignored Leiden.
"This guy..." Leiden seemed to be choked, his mouth tightly shut, his body trembling slightly. Obviously, he was once again ignored by a civilian and felt hurt.
"If you have nothing to say, then go away. If you have nothing to say, then kneel down and apologize." Cardan motioned for Leiden to leave. "You bastard!" Leiden was angered by the commanding tone and waved his fist.
"That examinee?" At this time, a nearby student called out to Leiden, glaring at the student. "Now is the time for you to prepare. If you cause a disturbance, you will be eliminated immediately."
Under the student's stern and indifferent warning, Leiden unclenched his fist and put his hand down. "I tell you again, you'd better pass. If you fail, I will make you prefer to die than to live." Leiden threatened, then turned and left.
"What an interesting guy." Even facing such a threat, Cardin was not affected at all. He chuckled and watched Leiden's leaving back.
"Mr. Cardin, are you okay?" Alvis asked in a cautious voice after Leiden left. "I'm fine." Cardin answered calmly, as if it was no big deal.
Alvis seemed to be worried about the previous situation, he lowered his head and said. "I don't need to make you feel uneasy because of me. Even if you don't accept my apology, I'm really fine..."
Although Alvis was grateful that Cardin stood up for him, he was also worried. "It will be very difficult if you can't enter the academy..."
"Are you hoping that I'll be eliminated?" Cardin chuckled, interrupting Alvis. "No, no! I don't mean that!"
"Well, please don't worry about what has happened. I came here voluntarily. I'm really fine, so please don't worry and prepare for the next exam." Cardin chuckled again, telling Alvis not to worry, then closed his eyes and continued to calm himself down.
Alvis opened his mouth, then nodded. "Since we are already in the same boat, you must pass."
"What?" "If I pass and you get eliminated, that guy will vent his anger on me, not you." Cardin said with a smile, while Alvis took a deep breath.
"So stop worrying and start preparing for the next round of exams." After saying that, Cardin closed his eyes again. Alvis stood up from his seat and began to move his body. It seemed as if a fire was burning under Alvis' feet.
After a while, "We will start the exam." Instructor Bellid walked onto the podium again and said to the examinees.
The candidates who were preparing for the exam in various ways stopped what they were doing and looked towards the podium.
"You will take the exam one by one. Those who have not been called please continue to wait here." As the news of the exam began, a strange tense atmosphere began to spread in the auditorium.
Who will be the first? "Oh, I am in charge of this final exam. I will lead the candidates to the examination room, please don't refuse." Instructor Bellid continued with a smile.
"Does anyone have any final questions?" No one raised their hands. Since Gilbert was in charge of supervising the exam, even if they asked Instructor Bellid a question, they would not get a satisfactory answer.
The candidates all knew this and waited quietly for Belid's next words. "Very good. Then, those who are called, please come to me." No one asked any questions. Instructor Belid smiled brightly again and glanced at the candidates.
Then, her eyes stopped at where Cardin was. "Candidate Cardin, please come forward." Cardin was the first one to be called.
Although the first order may bring pressure and tension, Cardin's face remained calm. "Cardan! Good luck with your exams! I will see you at the academy!" Just as Cardin stood up and prepared to leave, Alvis beside him patted him on the back and encouraged him.
"Okay, thank you." Kalia said in a low voice beside him. "I will." Cardin thanked them briefly for their encouragement and walked towards where Instructor Belid was.
"The first one. Not bad." In front of Instructor Belid, she looked at Cardin with a subtle smile. "Good luck." Instructor Belid blessed him with a smile, and then a student next to him walked towards Cardin.
"I'll take you there." The student immediately turned and walked towards the exit of the auditorium, followed closely by Cardin. "Oh, by the way. Candidate Cardin?" Just as they were about to leave the auditorium, Belid called Cardin.
"What?" Cardin turned around and looked at Belid again. She pursed her lips and said, "You left something in the monster habitat. If you pass, we will return it to you at that time." Belid waved her hand. Cardin laughed softly in his heart and nodded. "Okay, I understand."
