Some people in the village like to grow vegetables in front of their houses, while others like to grow vegetables behind their houses.

Luo Yue built a yard in front of his house, and there was a bamboo forest inside the house, which was not suitable for growing vegetables.

There is a small pond in the village. Villagers like to grow vegetables around the pond because it is convenient for watering and washing vegetables.

Luo Yue’s family’s vegetable garden is also here. You can get there by crossing the ridge and passing the pond.

Luo's mother was very hardworking. She planted cucumbers, leeks, long beans, peppers, eggplants, water spinach, and radishes in her vegetable garden. Among them, the long beans grew the best and she could never finish them.

Yesterday we cut leeks and ate long beans. Today Luo Yue plans to pick cucumbers and water spinach. As for eggplants and radishes, they are still very small and cannot be eaten for the time being.

I picked four or five cucumbers, a handful of water spinach, and a few green peppers. Then I walked to the pond to wash the vegetables. Then I staggered home, carrying the basket in one hand and eating a cucumber in the other.

I heard Luo's mother crying before I even stepped into the yard.

When he entered the yard, he saw her sitting on the ground washing sheets and clothes. When he saw her come back, he glared at her fiercely.

Luo Yue seemed to be unable to see her fierce look, and walked forward obediently, "Mom, put it there and I will wash it."

Luo's mother originally planned to let Luo Yue take a bath, but who knew that Luo's father came back from the fields early.

"Who will cook if you wash the dishes?" Luo's father came out of the house, "Go cook and let your mother wash the dishes!"

Luo Yue lowered her head, but the corners of her mouth rose, and she quickly walked into the kitchen.

The water in the water tank was almost empty, probably because Luo's mother had used it to wash the sheets. Luo Yue shouted outside, "Dad, the water tank is empty."

When Father Luo heard the shouting, he went into the kitchen, took out a shoulder pole from the corner, picked up two empty wooden barrels, and went out to the river to fetch water.

In the past, cucumbers were always fried. Decades later, Luo Yue discovered that they tasted better when eaten cold.

The only seasonings at home are rapeseed oil, salt, MSG, soy sauce, garlic seeds and homemade chili sauce, but these are enough.

Cut off the heads and tails of the cucumbers and throw them away to feed the chickens. Remove the pulp of the old ones and cut the tender ones into small pieces and place them in the soup bowl.

There is no need to peel the garlic seeds. Put them on a wooden chopping board and hit them hard with the back of a knife to break them into pieces. The skin will fall off as well. After chopping them, put them into a pan with oil. Add some chili sauce, salt, MSG, and soy sauce. Stir-fry them twice, then use a spatula to scoop them up and pour them on the cucumber.

Wash the pot with water, then pour in oil, add the water spinach, and pour in the shredded green pepper.

Luo Yue likes to eat half-cooked vegetables. She just needs to stir-fry them briefly with some salt and MSG. They look green and appetizing.

Finally stir-fry the snails and add some chili sauce.

When cooking this dish, Luo Yue would usually add water and boil it for half an hour and also put in a lot of garlic. This is her favorite dish and it is especially appetizing when eaten with rice.

But now this dish is specially prepared for Luo's father and mother, so it naturally won't take a long time to cook. Just stir-fry it a few times, add some water, salt and MSG and it's ready to go.

After the dishes are fried, place them one by one on the stove, wash the rice and put it in the pot to cook.

Luo Yue sat on a low stool, looking at the fire while flipping through the Chinese textbook, and recited silently when she came across the parts that needed to be memorized.

She had a good memory when she was young, and now after her rebirth, her memory is even better. She can almost remember everything she sees. She can remember it after reading it once, and can recite it completely after reading it again to strengthen her memory.

There were heavy footsteps outside the door. Luo Yue looked up and saw that it was his father who came back with water. Then he lowered his head and continued reading.
