There were still a few days before school started, and Zhang Ran and Daya were busy with the new store every day. They hired two employees and finally opened the store before school started and handed it over to Daya for management.

The shops in the town were closed, but Zhang Ran still slept upstairs. The downstairs was renovated into a warehouse. He removed the clothes hangers and installed shelves instead, which were filled with goods brought from the factory.

I went to school to register early the next morning. I was supposed to be promoted to the third year of high school this semester according to my liberal arts or science major, but I didn't have time to take the final exam due to the flood last semester.

Zhang Ran entered his original class, and the teacher directly announced that there would be an exam the next day, which would last for three consecutive days. The students would be divided into classes based on their scores and then new books would be distributed.

After a summer vacation, some students lost their books, and some students played so much that they returned the knowledge in the books to the teachers long ago. As soon as this decision was announced, there was a cry of grief in the classroom.

Fortunately, there is still one day to review. Those who have books can take them out immediately to review the content of the first day's test. Those who don't have books can read one with their deskmate.

Three days passed in the blink of an eye.

After the exam in the morning, I have a half-day off in the afternoon. Half a day is not enough to go home, but I can go out and play.

Fu Qin asked Zhang Ran to go to the convenience store together.

"You go by yourself. My teacher just told me that someone is looking for me at the school gate." Zhang Ran declined to give the reason.

"Okay then." Fu Qin left with disappointment.

Zhang Ran sorted out the books and put them in the drawer. He walked out of the classroom and came to the school gate with a few books he wanted to read in the evening. He saw a familiar figure.

"Xiao Yue." Gao Yunfeng walked over quickly and looked Zhang Ran up and down. Seeing that she had grown a lot taller, a smile appeared on her face.

"Fifth Aunt." Zhang Ran was also looking at Gao Yunfeng. He hadn't seen her for half a year. She looked a little older, with more spots on her face and wrinkles at the corners of her eyes.

After Luo Laowu went out to work, the burden of the family fell entirely on Gao Yunfeng. She got up earlier than a chicken, worked harder than a donkey, ate less than a pig, and slept later than a dog. Naturally, she aged faster.

"This is the chili sauce and soybean paste I made myself. Take it." Gao Yunfeng stuffed the things she brought into Zhang Ran's hands.

"Thank you, Aunt Wu." Zhang Ran did not refuse, holding the heavy thing in his hand.

There were people coming and going at the school gate. Gao Yunfeng reached out and pulled her to a secluded corner. "Xiaoyue, Xu Laoer is dead."

Zhang Ran's eyes flickered. "Dead?"

Gao Yunfeng lowered her voice, "He was supposed to go to jail, but he became paralyzed after leaving the intensive care unit. He needed help eating, drinking, defecating and urinating, so he couldn't go to jail. The police sent him back to Xu's home on medical parole."

"Xu Lao Er had no wife or children. Only his mother, Widow Xu, took care of him. He lay in bed for less than a month. His body was festering with sores and maggots. He died a few days ago."

This was only known to the villagers after Doctor Li visited the Xu family several times and told them about it when he got home.

Xu Laoer died, and the loss of life meant that he had made a mortal enemy with the Xu family. Zhang Ran looked at Gao Yunfeng and understood her intention. She came to remind him that she was worried that she would be retaliated by the Xu family.

Gao Yunfeng frowned all the time, and a shallow furrow had formed between her brows. "The Xu family owed the hospital a large sum of money because of this. The Xu family hates you and Luo Youdi to death. You have to be careful when you go to school alone. Don't leave the school unless necessary."

Luo Youdi and her daughter are in another province, so she is not worried that the Xu family cannot find her. However, Xiaoyue goes to school in town, and she is afraid that the Xu family will take revenge on her.
