American Comics: When the Police Comes to Knock on the Door

Richard picked up a clove of garlic and threw it into his mouth, chewing it carefully to make sure the garlic flavor was strong enough.

Richard considered asking the church to ask, since the church could have a Gabriel, what else could it do to protect them? After all, they were still engaged in exorcism work. But on the one hand, he was not a church member, and on the other hand, he really didn’t want to deal with the church. He decided to try it first, and if it didn’t work, he would consider seeking help from the church.

Richard opened the car door and walked into the apartment. He fiddled with the cross on his chest and knocked on the door of Miller's house.

When the door opened, Mrs. Miller was a little surprised.

Mrs. Miller: "Detective"

Richard: "Mrs. Miller, can you go in and talk?"

Mrs. Miller frowned, stepped aside, and ushered Richard into the room. Richard stood in the living room and looked around.

Richard: "Isn't Mr. Miller here?"

Mrs. Miller: "He is resting. Do you need me to wake him up?"

Richard: "Excuse me, please wake him up."

Mrs. Miller walked into the bedroom and Richard took a seat and waited. After a while, the Millers came out and sat opposite Richard.

Richard asked, fiddling with the cross on his chest.

Richard: "Mr. Miller, you said you went to bed at 10 o'clock that night"

Mr. Miller: "Yes. What's wrong?"

Richard: "You didn't hear anything."

Mr. Miller: "Yes."

Richard: "But the news I got recently said that music was playing in Nancy's bedroom before she died."

Mr. Miller: "Maybe, but I didn't hear it."

Richard: "Yeah, it's normal that you didn't hear it. By the way, did you know that there was a home invasion robber who was committing crimes near you when Nancy's crime happened?"

Mrs. Miller: "Yes, I heard. The prisoners have been arrested."

Richard nodded.

Neither the cross nor the garlic made Richard notice anything strange about the Millers. He noticed the fruits and fruit knives on the dining table and walked over.

Richard: "Do you mind if I eat an apple? Because of this case, I haven't even had lunch yet. I'm a little hypoglycemic."

Mrs. Miller: "Please."

Richard picked up the fruit knife and cut the peel. The blade made a mistake and cut his finger.

Richard put down the fruit knife, covered his cut thumb, and squeezed it a few times. Then he spread his bleeding fingers in front of the Millers.

Richard: "I accidentally cut my finger. Do you have a band-aid?"

The Millers exhaled softly.

Mrs. Miller: "I'll get it."

Richard noticed the couple's fleeting greed.

It seems to be correct. The Miller family should be vampires, otherwise who would show such expressions after seeing blood.

But even so, Richard couldn't arrest the two people for this. They didn't attack Richard, and they didn't show the characteristics of vampires. Richard needed to let them show their feet.

There's this nasty thing called procedures. Vigilantes can do whatever they want, but police can't.

Mrs. Miller handed the band-aid to Richard, who did not put it on immediately after taking it. He walked to Miller's window.

Richard: "Don't you think it's too dark?"

With that said, Richard opened the curtains.

The sun shone into the room, and the Millers frowned, with an unnatural blush on their faces, but that was all.

Mr. Miller: "Detective, what exactly are you doing here today?"

Mr. Miller squinted at Richard and his tone became colder. With Richard's series of actions, even a fool would know that Richard was up to something.

Richard stood in front of the window, and the incoming sunlight formed a curtain of light behind him. Richard was about to start his performance.

Richard: "You asked me what I wanted to do. Don't you know what you did?"

Mr. Miller: "I don't know what you're talking about."
