American Comics: When the Police Comes to Knock on the Door

It was already dark by the time Richard and Jessica came out of the police station, and they drove back to the hotel.

From the moment he stepped into the hotel, Richard could feel the weird looks from the staff.

Look, look, brother, he is great at work and loves it as much as he likes.

Richard and Jessica returned to the room after having a meal in the hotel restaurant. He needed to calm down and process what happened.

It is now certain that Torbett was a dirty cop, and Detective Leamos may have died while investigating the police.

Can we assume that Detective Lemos investigated Torbett because of Leonard's case, and that Detective Lemos was silenced because of the investigation of Torbett?

wrong. d obviously knew about Torbett's involvement, but Torbett was only resigned. This punishment was disproportionate to the deaths of Leonard and Detective Lemos. Furthermore, there was nearly a year between the time of Leonard's death and the Los Angeles riots. If we were only investigating the issue of a police chief, this time span would be a bit too big.

There must be something that Richard doesn't know about. Richard doesn't want to think about it anymore. Ask Torbett tomorrow, and many things should be clear.

Early the next morning, Richard and Jessica went to Torbett's address.

Torbet's home is a single-family double-storey spire villa. The shape of the house is not bad, but both the lawn at the door and the entire house give people a dilapidated feeling. The owner of the house probably hasn't taken care of it for a long time.

Richard knocked on the door, but no one answered. Richard could only knock harder and shout Torbett's name loudly.

Just when Richard was considering whether to pry open the door and sneak in to take a look, he heard the sound of a bottle breaking from inside the house.

After confirming that there was someone in the house, Richard knocked on the door again.

After a while, a sloppy-looking old man opened the door.

"Nathan Torbet" Richard asked.

The old man asked: "Who are you?"

"I'm Richard Long, son of Leonard Long, and this is Jessica, my girlfriend."

"Leonard Long, that university professor, come in, I am Torbett." Torbett left the door open and turned around and walked into the room.

Richard was a little surprised, things went better than he expected.

Richard and Jessica followed inside.

It was messy, very messy, with dishes piled up in the sink, beer bottles everywhere, stains on the carpet, and the smell of rotten food filling the room.

Torbett produced three bottles of beer, two of which he handed to Richard.

"I didn't find anything to drink. Let's deal with it."

Richard shook his head and did not take it.

Torbet turned around and walked to the sofa and sat down. He put the beer on the coffee table, opened a bottle and drank it all in one go.

Richard and Jessica followed, but after looking at the sofa, they tacitly chose to stand aside.

"What's the matter?" Torbett picked up another bottle of beer and leaned on the sofa while drinking.

"Why did you transfer Detective Lemos away from my father's case? What does Detective Lemos' death have to do with you? Why did you resign?" Richard got straight to the point.

Torbet glanced at Richard in surprise. He did not expect Richard to ask so many questions, nor did he expect Richard to ask such in-depth and purposeful questions.

"Lemos was transferred because he delayed policing. Lemos' death had nothing to do with me."

"I'm a cop too. So let's cut out the nonsense, okay" Richard said, looking into Torbett's eyes.

"You are also a policeman, you are not a d."

"yd."

"When can yd go to the Los Angeles area to handle cases?"

"This is not YD's business, this is a son investigating the death of his father."

"So, I can kick you out now." Torbet stood up.

"You can try." Richard stared into Torbett's eyes, and he continued: "Listen, Torbett, I don't want to do anything to you.
