Knight Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence
#101 - One strike to win
On the blood-soaked grasslands at the foot of the Black Forest Mountains, two distinct armies clashed fiercely, locked in a brutal struggle.
In this bayonet-to-bayonet combat, the stark differences in fighting styles between the two races were vividly displayed. The human line stood like an iron dam against the surging green tide. The Greenskins, bellowing savage war cries, fell in their thousands as goblins and orcs, a massive horde of barbaric monsters, crashed against the disciplined ranks of human infantry.
The attackers were continuously battered by the heavy war axes and massive spears from the center of the battle line. Moreover, the powerful bloodline abilities of the knights erupted, and sometimes even the shockwaves of the knights' potent psychic energy were enough to shatter the courage of the cowardly barbaric monsters, especially the goblins.
On the other hand, the orcs within the green tide were much harder to stop. They often broke through into the vital points of the formation, forcing the humans to face these most ferocious warriors of the Old World. In one-on-one combat, human soldiers were simply no match for orc warriors. These monsters were slow but could fight relentlessly, even with spears piercing their bodies.
Likewise, some excellent tactics could compensate for the individual strength deficiencies of human soldiers. Spearmen and greatsword attendants formed tight ranks, bearing the brunt of the charge, giving the mounted knights enough time to outflank the orcs and then crush them.
The human soldiers repelled wave after wave of attacks, but more and more enemies appeared on the road by the river, the orcs and goblins seeming endless.
The sheer advantage in numbers, like a dark cloud looming over the city, weighed heavily on everyone's mind.
The dwarf Boros Dragonhammer swung his warhammer, smashing a goblin that charged at him, and a complaint like a steel cannon sounded: "Damn it! These orc bastards are like they're not afraid of death. The dwarves have already smashed six or seven monsters, and they're still charging fearlessly. Big guys, we need to think of something quickly."
A nun from the Church of the Dawn stood at the rear of the formation, raising her hand as green energy erupted across the grassy plain. A scorching heat and dazzling light burst from the ground. The subterranean water brought by [Divine Art: Geyser] erupted in the monster-filled ranks, sending dozens of monsters flying.
Although this damage was not enough to significantly affect the orcs, as they could get up and continue fighting, the dazzling light of the divine magic still instilled fear in many monsters. This ability, beyond the comprehension of mortals, caused the courage of a dozen goblins to collapse completely. They got up from the ground and fled the battlefield screaming, completely unaware of how weak the Dawn Church nun was. If they could break through the front guard of attendants, even two or three goblins could knock her down, tear her soft nun's robe, and ravage this delicate maiden at will.
But the human knights seized this opportunity. Taking advantage of the monsters being knocked down in large numbers by the divine magic and the army's formation faltering, Knight Orstein decisively took the lead, launching a fierce counterattack with three squads of armed attendants.
The morale of a large number of orcs collapsed under this violent offensive, and they fled from the battle line.
Orcs have this distinct style. At the start of a battle, they eagerly join the fight with a fervor for combat, and they are fearless.
But if the battle is prolonged and they are constantly at a disadvantage, at some point they will suddenly lose interest in the fight and become bored. At this point, they will retreat from the battlefield without looking back, believing that this boss is no good and cannot lead them to have fun.
Then their warlike nature will lead them to continue fighting among themselves until the biggest, strongest, or most cunning Greenskin suppresses everyone, climbs to the top of the tribe, and leads them again in a hearty war against humans and dwarves.
So decapitation tactics are most effective against Greenskins. Usually, the biggest and strongest one in the green tide is their tribe's warlord or boss.
Secondly, a swift attack that constantly inflicts heavy damage on them, preventing them from gaining a foothold and enjoying the killing.
Right now, Knight Orstein's fierce counterattack has made the monster wave somewhat unstable. Su Li, standing on the high ground, saw this clearly and immediately seized the opportunity: "Charge Knights, launch a full-scale attack immediately. Don't give them time to reorganize!"
The Charge Knights on the right side of the formation received the order and immediately mounted their horses in unison. The knights kissed their sharp swords, and then, as Hild raised her sword forward, everyone spurred their horses and galloped out.
A full five squads, sixty Charge Knights, almost the entire force of Charge Knights from Black Forest Territory, were deployed.
Sixty gleaming blades were raised high as the knights shouted a word, reaffirming their oath of loyalty:
"For Black Forest, for Glory!"
Filled with pride, Hild pointed her horse towards the Greenskin tide ahead, raised the Sunbreak Rune Sword, gleaming with golden light, and shouted:
"Follow me, soldiers of the Violet Thorn family, charge!"
A burst of enthusiastic cheers immediately erupted from the human line, every eye fixed on the south.
Greenskin lads and goblins didn't understand what was happening, but then the earth trembled and a piercing, high-pitched horn call enveloped their ranks, mixed with the terrified screams of the goblins.
Countless Greenskins looked south in fear, only to see a group of human heavy armored knights charging through their ranks, deeply penetrating their formation. Many goblins and orc lads didn't even have time to resist and were trampled into pieces by the knights' charging wave. Lances pierced the thick chests of one orc after another, and swords and warhammers chopped left and right, sending many monsters crashing to the ground under the sharp offensive.
The heavy armored knights shone brightly, unstoppable. One attack alone crushed hundreds of goblin monsters, and everything in their path was wiped out.
Many orc lads and goblins fled backward without thinking, not daring to face this terrifying attack.
But behind them, there was no way to retreat!
Behind the monsters was the wide Brienne River, and every monster fleeing backward exacerbated the congestion of the formation.
The hammer and anvil tactic worked!
The monsters were driven backward by the knights, greatly compressing their range of movement. Weak goblins were already being trampled to death by orcs, and many orcs were crowded together by goblins. They could not advance or retreat, and they could not even swing their machetes.
They could only roar unwillingly, watching the elite human heavy armored knights charge in violently. A large number of spears instantly penetrated their formation, piercing the chests of fierce orcs, and a lot of hot blood splashed onto the battlefield.
The knights' heroic charge caused enthusiastic cheers from their own soldiers on the chariots.
"Good job! Get those sons of bitches."
"Just like that, crush all these dirty, stinking monsters."
"Too mighty, such a heroic, fearless charge! Push all these sons of bitches into the river."
Watching the heavy armored knights, shining brightly and charging heroically, every soldier's longing for the knight's identity reached its peak!
At this moment, the knights charging flamboyantly were simply the stars of the battlefield. In the face of their indomitable momentum, no creature could stop their violent wave, not even dragons! The sharp spear tips, blessed by divine grace, could certainly penetrate hard scales.
And the charge that even dragons couldn't stop, the green tide couldn't stop either.
Just like the human soldiers cheered, in the face of the knights' repeated brave charges, the monsters continued to retreat, constantly squeezing the space behind them. More than two hundred weak goblins had already been squeezed into the turbulent Brienne River.
The space on the battlefield was constantly compressed, and thousands of goblins and orcs were squeezed onto the riverbank, which was only about three or four acres in size. They were squeezed together in the narrow space like sardines in a can, and there wasn't even room to draw a bow.
And the human bows and crossbows fired wildly, and for a time, arrows rained down, and the monsters had no place to stand on the battlefield.
Although the Greenskins were particularly ferocious, in the final analysis, the entire tribe, regardless of old or young, was on the battlefield. Many cowardly goblins who usually only dared to steal other people's belongings were also in this wave of five thousand people.
They were timid and cowardly, weak, and even had crooked teeth and were skinny. They were bullied at will by members of the tribe.
A force composed of such people was okay to fight a favorable battle, but once they entered a headwind, their morale would naturally collapse extremely quickly.
Visibly, the morale of the green tide became low, and a large number of goblins and orc lads sneaked away.
Some cunning and resourceful ones jumped directly into the river. Su Li saw several goblins lying on their backs, exposing their bellies, crossing their legs, and disappearing downstream with their arms as pillows.
These goblins were distributed in every corner of the continent, and there were hidden goblin caves around every village. They stole property, and even robbed women, hiding in any valley, cave, or dense forest.
So as long as they didn't die on the battlefield, they could survive wherever they drifted. Of course, even if they died in the turbulent river, they wouldn't be at a loss, as they would only die more miserably on this fierce battlefield.
The opportunity must not be missed. Su Li took a deep breath and ordered: "Musicians, blow the horn, launch a full-scale attack, push the monsters into the water, and decide the victory with one blow!"
The loud horn sounded like lightning cutting through the sky, and the surging and passionate military music sounded. The human soldiers immediately cheered and roared, launching a fierce attack from the entire line on the formation. The knights raised the crimson banner of the Violet Thorn family, and soldiers all over the mountains and fields launched a full-scale attack on the monsters.
The monsters were immediately suppressed by this powerful momentum. Countless monsters fell under the sharp blades, and the retreating monsters pushed a large number of monsters behind them into the turbulent Brienne River.
If there are no accidents, before the peak of the Sun Goddess's divine grace, the human army will be able to achieve the most decisive victory over the green tide.
But obviously, not all of the green tide are these ordinary cannon fodder troops, and they also have their own trump cards.
Just as the human battle formation was surging and launching an offensive, the hidden goblin despicable lurkers finally revealed their deadly blades!
