Lord of the Mysteries 2: Circle of Inevitability

The fifth part is finally finished. This is a very important volume for the whole book, so it is about 100,000 words longer than expected, but this is also necessary, otherwise wouldn’t all the foreshadowing in the early stage be wasted? And it would be irresponsible to the work, so as mentioned before, the time of the sixth volume can only be postponed to the end of June or the beginning of July.

The name of the volume is "Witch", first, the focus of this volume is the battle for "0-01", second, the disaster of the Whirlpool Plan, third, the background is pain, distortion, and despair, including emotional entanglements and the final declaration, and fourth, Lumian is forced to start a "witch" life.

Just like the saying in the secret book "choosing a path means choosing your friends and enemies", what I want to say now is "choosing a path means choosing the corresponding writing style". If I write about the "Hunter" path and "City of Disaster", I must not use the style of writing "Source Castle" in the "Fortress" path. On the one hand, the mystery will definitely decrease significantly. On the other hand, due to the law of aggregation of extraordinary characteristics, the "Hunter" will inevitably encounter the "Witch" and become entangled, which will inevitably mix the relationship between men and women and cause pain and distortion.

I can avoid this situation, but then why write about "Hunter" and "Witch"? Wouldn't it read the same as "Fortress"?

So, after choosing the path and the writing style, many things are decided.

Similarly, "Hunter" jumps to "Witch" at least once, and "Witch" jumps to "Hunter" at least once. This is a setting that was made when the secret was created or at the beginning. Chick's state and why Chick borrowed Triss's power to destroy the ceremony of King Rune, who had a cooperative relationship with his sect, to be promoted to "Black Emperor" are all on the line of the special mirror world and the City of Disaster. Choosing the path means that you have also chosen the witch state for a period of time.

Back to the preface, the meaning also has many layers. One is that Amon asked Lumian on behalf of Adam, and the second is that the hidden Adam asked Bernadette, the Tarot Club, and the participants of the Vortex Plan.

The third and fourth are outside the book. The third is to ask readers, do you accept such a choice, such a turn, and such a development? The fourth is to ask yourself, do you accept the ending after writing these?

I know the setting of the whole book. There are so many foreshadowings in the first volume that are not recovered until the fifth volume. The actual main line of the second volume is psychological treatment. The desperate declaration in the fifth volume, the emotional entanglement with the "witches", and Lumian's transformation into a "witch" will either cause a poor reading experience, and you need to read it all at once until the end of the fifth volume to feel comfortable, or it will touch the thunder points of many people, and there will definitely be a lot of scolding me, so I am asking myself, do you accept such an ending?

If it is now when I wrote One Life, or earlier, my answer is likely to be "Floating clouds cover the moon but not the eyes, and the heart of seeking the truth is as hard as iron even if it dies." Now, I am older and more gentle. I will no longer think too highly of myself and regard opponents as wrong. I will not think that I am right just because I am seeking the truth, and you are bad guys. I have been writing books for thirteen years and have experienced a lot. I feel more and more that everyone's life experience is different, and the points they can accept are also different. There is no question of who is right or wrong, who is higher or lower.

So, my answer now is "I can foresee possible opposition, I can imagine the criticism that is bound to come, but I still choose to write this way, choose to welcome this ending, whether it is good or bad".

Speaking of this, the previous sentence "Floating clouds cover the moon but not the eyes, seeking the truth even if it dies, the heart is as hard as iron" comes from my first novel "The Record of Destruction". I have always wanted to write a similar novel before, not in terms of subject matter, but in terms of the core, but now I feel more and more that I may never be able to write another "The Record of Destruction", because the things I want to express and my inner thoughts have been written and exhausted in "The Record of Destruction". These years are more about practice and practice. There is no realization beyond that scope, and it is impossible to have similar things that question the heart.

Back to the fifth volume, I still want to say that I actually wrote the first volume quite well. Many details are hidden and full of symbolic meanings, and finally they are responded in this volume.

Now, let's review the preface of the previous four volumes again:

The first volume "All the gifts of fate have a price", now you know what its deepest meaning is?

The second volume says "Remember, you are dust, and to dust you shall return", now you know who is saying it, right?

The third volume says "Everyone is a hunter, everyone is a prey", you should have a deeper understanding, right?

The fourth volume says "Merciful Father, please forgive me for the sins I have committed", which is in line with the hidden theme of this volume.

I think it is quite interesting to read them together.

Although the second volume has been criticized, it is a brand new writing style. Now I can finally say that the completion is still good. The arrangement of the plot of this volume is actually based on Lumian's psychological condition. When he is good, he feels comfortable, when he is in pain, he feels depressed, and when he explodes, he feels vented. The changes and styles in the plot are used to imply and symbolize Lumian's psychological condition, as well as the different effects of different plots on Lumian's psychological problems. The hidden line has always been Adam's psychological treatment report.

I am actually very satisfied with the emotional entanglement in the fifth volume, especially the first dialogue between Janna and Lumian. The superficial dialogue, the actual meaning, and the subtlety brewing in the dark all have a kind of beauty. Unfortunately, as an online article, sometimes it is not written directly and clearly, which is indeed a big problem. When I read other novels, I often flip through them quickly and just read them simply, so the latter part is still written a little more straightforward, but it also fits Franca's personality.

As for some words, it seems to affect the image of the characters, but in fact, I have seriously thought about and deliberated them. I don't know if you have the experience of communicating with family and friends when you are emotionally excited. Some words are completely thoughtless, some words will be regretted after saying, and some words will be instinctively exaggerated to express the inner emotions. If you can be so rational and sober in similar scenes, and know what to say and what not to say, then it is not "Witch" and "Hunter".

In general, I am quite satisfied with the writing of the fifth volume. Of course, there are some problems. First, there are not enough hints beforehand, and there is a lack of psychological buffer period. Second, in the grand scene, the plot performance of the weaker characters is problematic. Third, there are too many characters in the whole, and sometimes I feel powerless when scheduling. This is the pain of writing a sequel.

The next volume is "Dream Weaver", whose dream everyone knows, and the preface has not been thought of yet, because it is not within the framework of the previous five volumes.
