Master Craftsman of the Pokemon World

#17 - The myth seeker, Wang Luo

The Ruins of Shinjo are quite a distance from the village and deep within the mountains.

Throughout the journey, Doublade was constantly waving its sword, practicing the sword techniques it had mysteriously learned yesterday. Driven by curiosity and a belief in its own genius, it was diligently studying.

Before leaving, I went to the village to say hello to the old man at the apothecary. When Elder Juro heard that Kotake was going to the Ruins of Shinjo, he was taken aback for a moment, then smiled:

"Don't worry, although the ruins are far from the village, we have a Doduo for deliveries. Just ride it over."

"So... since you're going to the Ruins of Shinjo, could you deliver some goods on the way?"

Doduo? That's right, the village does have a Doduo for deliveries.

Moreover, Doduo are common riding Pokémon. They look like kiwis with two heads, with short feathers that make them poor fliers. Instead, they have well-developed legs, and are said to be able to run at speeds of 100 kilometers per hour.

"Deliver goods?" Kotake asked, puzzled. Elder Juro nodded: "I think I mentioned it before, there's a cabin on the mountain near the Ruins of Shinjo, inhabited by an elderly man. Everyone calls him Grandpa Mountain."

"He has a Kadabra, and sometimes researchers and explorers from outside also stay at his cabin. The cabin is located in the Snow Valley, where snow never melts and forms thick snow walls. It only doesn't snow for two and a half months each year, so it's very cold."

"He is the guardian of the ruins. Every summer, we send him supplies. It's that time of year again. We can enter the valley directly during the summer. In autumn and winter, we can only leave the goods outside the valley, and Kadabra will use its psychic powers to retrieve them."

Kotake understood. Elder Juro's description was similar to what he had seen in the game.

There is indeed an old man in the mountain cabin, along with a Kadabra that can teleport people over long distances, and a networked computer. Even in a remote area like the Ruins of Shinjo, there is internet access, not just in the village but also in the mountain cabin, yet there are no visible signal towers nearby.

The power of science is truly amazing!

At the same time, Kotake remembered that there should also be a guide in the mountain cabin who speaks strangely and likes to say "Oya oya," but since his default appearance is a hiker, it's unclear who he really is.

Elder Juro seemed to have mentioned this guide before, describing him as a yellow-haired merchant carrying a large backpack... still not much different from the hiker image.

Could the yellow-haired one be from the Alola region, the kind of hiker wearing a green hat?

"Thank you so much! With the Doduo, the round trip time will be much shorter!"

Kotake accepted Elder Juro's request to deliver the goods. The old man and Kotake walked out of the apothecary together and called out to a villager who was about to make a delivery.

This Doduo was quite large and looked a bit chubby, unlike normal Doduo.

"Haha, this child is very strong, isn't it? It got lost and wandered into the village when it couldn't find food before. Because it has a big appetite and the village has a plentiful food supply, it's been living here ever since."

"Because it's very strong and larger than other Pokémon, it can carry a lot of goods."

The old man patted the Doduo's body, and the Doduo's two heads let out happy cries.

"Doduo!"

All-inclusive food and lodging without worrying about wild attacks, just delivering some goods for a stable life, of course, that's good!

Doublade flew in front of Doduo to say hello:

"Yo!"

Although it's not as good as the king's mount it saw before, its size is still acceptable. It would be a great help!

Doublade evaluated on its own, while Doduo's two heads tilted, looking puzzled, its round black eyes full of confusion.

Then, out of curiosity, it "pecked" Doublade!

"Yo yo yo yo~!!!"

Doublade was pecked and immediately let out an incomprehensible cry, blurting out ancient dialects in its urgency, feeling somewhat angry!

How rude, does everything have to be pecked to see what it is? Has it never seen a flying sword before!

Doduo: "Doduo?"

How are these words combined?

Kotake heard Doublade's sounds. Although the surrounding villagers didn't know what it was saying, Kotake sighed helplessly again.

"Alright, alright, let's go." With that, he grabbed Doublade's hilt and then rode onto the Doduo. The goods were hung on both sides of Doduo's furry body and on its rear, secured with a "bird saddle." The villager had also tied reins to the two beaks.

Kotake found this setup familiar and quickly remembered.

Isn't this the same style as Yellow's Doduo!

Moreover, individually, Yellow's Doduo is also larger. In contrast, Paul's Doduo in the anime is small and looks somewhat underdeveloped.

Kotake rode onto the Doduo, while Doublade was inserted into Kotake's backpack, making it look like a swordsman riding a two-headed fat bird... a strange sight.

The Doduo's speed was astonishing. The scenery in front of Kotake began to recede rapidly. The Doduo's two feet sprinted, and the high-speed running caused the airflow in front to sweep in, forcing Kotake to lean forward.

Soon, the village scenery disappeared, replaced by vast expanses of brown and white, and the temperature gradually decreased.

After entering the mountain area, the rocks and trees were covered with snow, and the snow on the ground gradually melted, forming small streams and puddles. However, the further they advanced towards the ancient spirit peak, the more snow there was.

Although the sun was still high in the sky, the snow in the mountains showed no signs of melting. However, the climate in the snow-covered area was lower, but when the snow melted, it would absorb a large amount of heat from the air, further lowering the temperature. This is why it's colder when the snow melts than when it snows.

So, entering the deep snow area was not as cold as the previous area where the snow was melting.

However, the Doduo didn't seem to feel any discomfort. Although, in terms of type, the Normal/Flying Doduo is twice as weak to Ice, perhaps its fluff has a warming function, or perhaps this Doduo is simply... fatter, so it's not afraid of the cold?

Around noon, the mountain road surrounded by two heavy snow walls finally appeared in Kotake's sight!

Ice Wall, Snow Valley, Blizzard Zone.

The newest novels are first published on 69shu.com!

Legend has it that the people of Shin-Oh who crossed the sea from ancient Shin-Oh and the people of Johto who went north in ancient times gathered together. After exchanging ideas, they built a special shrine to worship "The Great Lord of Shin-Oh."

"That is the Ruins of Shinjo."

Kotake saw the cabin. Unlike in the game, there were several cabins here, but they all seemed to be vacant. At the same time, there were some fields that were not covered with snow, and it looked like they had already been plowed.

Hmm, there are farmlands in the blizzard zone. This reminded Kotake of a similar village, Freezington in the Crown Tundra of the Galar region, which exists in the snowy area but still has farmland where crops can be grown, seemingly because the land was transformed by the King of Bountiful Harvests.

However, with the disappearance of the King of Bountiful Harvests, the land gradually lost its vitality.

Kotake stared at the distant shrine. The cabins were not as close to the shrine as they were in the game. Instead, they had to walk a little further. After turning a corner on a high ground on the snow wall, they could see the flat-topped temple, which looked almost identical to the Ruins of Alph, a ruin attraction in the Johto region.

But there were four huge pillars outside, broken like spears.

And a clean stone tablet used to mark the location of the ruins, like the kind of information stele often placed in ruin attractions.

"Ah! Hello, it's really cold~, freezing me to death~"

"Oya oya, are you here to explore the ruins? Entering here in the summer is the easiest, you've chosen a good season to come."

A frivolous tone, but a slightly deep voice came from behind Kotake. From the surrounding cabins, one of the wooden doors opened, and a person dressed like a hiker or a backpacker walked out.

No, although very similar, that outfit...

Kotake's eyes gradually widened, but he quickly concealed his expression. Fortunately, the distance between the two sides was still far, and the other party didn't seem to notice his change in expression. Instead, he looked at the Ruins of Shinjo with a look of longing and regret.

"You're so young and already interested in the Ruins of Shinjo, that's really amazing!"

"The fusion of Shin-Oh and Johto civilizations can be seen from the design of the stone pillars in the Ruins of Shinjo~"

"Oya oya! How could I be so rude, it's not convenient to talk while standing, let's go to the mountain cabin in front together and talk about it slowly~"

This hiker was wearing heavy blue clothing, with a garment similar to an apron tied around his chest and back, carrying a large brown travel bag, wearing a blue and yellow hat, and had bright yellow hair, obscuring his left eye.

"You're the first one to come since the summer began. The last batch of ruin investigators left some time ago, hmm, those people seemed to be from the Johto region."

Kotake didn't speak, but was amazed in his heart.

This hiker, many people have speculated about his true identity, because his tone is very strange, completely different from normal mountain men, like a philosopher, and he appears in such a remote and distant place as the Ruins of Shinjo, and also tells the protagonist some myths about the Johto and Shin-Oh regions.

After the release of "Legends: Arceus", the speculation about this mountain man gradually led to a special character, and now Kotake didn't expect that this speculation was confirmed.

The man in front of him, who looks very similar to Cynthia, the champion of Shin-Oh, is named "Volo"!
