Chapter 557: White Clouds and Moon Hidden
‘When a person eats a sheep, the sheep dies and becomes a human, and the person dies and becomes a sheep, and so on until ten lives have passed, and they will eat each other again and again, and commit evil deeds together, and for the entire future, all of this is based on stealing and greed. ’
The response of Monk Wubian came from the story of the Great Buddha’s Summit Sutra.
The Buddha believed that when people eat animals, they are just repaying grievances, and will eventually sacrifice their lives and sink into the sea of suffering.
As expected, as soon as he finished speaking, the monks around him began to praise him.
"As expected of a disciple of Ci'en, you can quote scriptures so quickly."
With the opening of Monk Wubian, Monk Yehui, a disciple of Guangming Buddha beside him, naturally did not want to lag behind, and immediately chanted a Buddhist name, saying aloud:
"Strange, strange, strange, grandson marries grandmother.
Pigs and sheep sit on the kang, and relatives are cooked in the pot.
Daughters eat mother's meat, and sons beat father's skin drums.
Everyone comes to congratulate, I think it's really hard!"
Hearing this, all the monks put their hands together and said "sin, sin".
Li Chen nodded slightly, in fact, this doggerel said by the disciple of Guangming Buddha also quoted scriptures.
It came from the mouth of the eminent monk Zhigong of the Que Pian Temple five hundred years ago.
This Zhigong monk is amazing. He has reached the realm of asking for the way through practice, has five eyes and six supernatural powers, understands cause and effect, and knows the coming and going.
One day, a rich family held a wedding and held a big banquet, and invited Zhigong monk to chant scriptures.
As a result, when the monk Zhigong entered the door, he was shocked by the scene in front of him.
This family, young and old, had a lot of karma and reincarnation, so this doggerel poem came into being.
‘Grandson marries grandmother’ means that before the grandmother of this family died, she couldn’t let go of her precious grandson and couldn’t see her grandson get married and start a family, full of regrets.
So after death, she went to the underworld, with a lot of worries, and the King of Hell said: “Since you love your grandson so much, you will be his wife in the next life and take good care of her.”
So the old lady reincarnated and became the wife of her grandson in this life.
‘Pigs and sheep sit on the kang, and relatives are cooked in the pot’ means that the owner’s family used to specialize in cattle and sheep business.
The cattle and sheep that were slaughtered in the past were reborn as humans in this life, and became guests of honor.
And the relatives who used to love to eat beef and mutton were reborn as cattle and sheep, and were slaughtered to pay off their debts.
‘The girl eats her mother’s meat’ refers to a girl at the next table who was eating a pig’s trotter with gusto. Unexpectedly, she turned out to be her mother’s reincarnation.
‘The son beats the drum made of his father’s skin’. Monk Zhigong looked at the musicians, playing gongs, drums, trumpets and flutes. It was so lively!
There was a man who beat the drum vigorously. The drum was made of donkey skin, and the donkey turned out to be his father in his previous life!
At this time, “everyone came to congratulate”. Everyone thought it was a festive day, but Monk Zhigong just sighed: “I said it was really bitter!” In fact, people take suffering as pleasure!
Although this doggerel poem looks simple, it tells the suffering of cause and effect and reincarnation.
So just now, after Guangming Buddha finished chanting, all the monks chanted ‘sins, sins’.
From this, it can be seen that Guangming Buddha and Ci’en Buddha talked about the cause and effect of killing, and reincarnation.
The harm of killing lies in cause and effect and reincarnation.
But Li Chen just laughed it off. Even if these two stories have the theory of reincarnation, they are mostly mixed with a lot of fictional elements.
It is intended to warn sentient beings of the pain of killing and eating meat.
The Great Leiyin Temple, the Great Ci'en Temple, and the Great Guangming Temple are the three great temples.
Since the Ci'en Buddha and the Guangming Buddha came out one after another, there is no reason why the Leiyin Buddha would not come out.
What's more, the topic of "killing" in that Dharma decree was written by him.
The Leiyin Buddha curled his lips, neither performed Zen rituals nor took Dharma instruments, walked to the front with dragon-like steps, and did not even chant the Buddha's name, but said aloud: "The parrot swallowed the precious pearl, and the monk bears the sin."
Although it was just a short sentence, it sounded like a cloud of fog, but a few people's eyes lit up.
The Leiyin Buddha's words are actually a story in the "Miscellaneous Parables Sutra".
It is said that a monk went to a jewelry seller's house to beg one day.
The owner prepared food for the monk and went out.
At that time, there happened to be a pearl worth hundreds of millions in the house, and there happened to be a parrot fed by the owner next to the window.
The parrot was very curious and greedy, and it swallowed the pearl in one gulp when no one was paying attention.
When the owner came back, he found that the pearl was gone, so he asked the monk.
The monk knew where the pearl was, but said, "I didn't take it."
So the owner asked if anyone had come. The monk said no.
The owner said, "Since no one else has come, who else could have stolen it if not you?"
Then he picked up the whip and whipped the monk.
Suddenly, the parrot saw the blood flowing from the monk's body, and flew over to drink the blood again, but was hit by the whip and fell to the ground and died immediately.
At this time, the monk said, "It was the parrot that ate the pearl."
The owner heard this and cut open the parrot's abdomen. As expected, he found the pearl. He realized that he had wrongly blamed the monk, so he asked in confusion, "Why didn't you tell me earlier that it was the parrot that ate it?"
The monk said, "I follow the Buddhist precepts and cannot kill. If I tell you, I am afraid that the parrot will be killed. Even if you beat me to death, I can't tell you. But now the parrot is dead, so I have to tell you."
After hearing this, the owner regretted it and apologized to the monk.
This story is what Leiyin Buddha said, "The parrot swallowed the pearl, and the monk took the blame."
The monk would rather suffer the harm himself than indirectly hurt the parrot.
Compared to what the Buddhas Ci'en and Guangming said, the story told by the Buddha Leiyin was undoubtedly more vivid.
The Buddha Leiyin turned his head and took a look, and was very satisfied with the monks' reactions.
Finally, his eyes fell on Li Chen's face, and the corner of his mouth showed that meaningful smile again.
But at this moment, a clear and pleasant female voice suddenly came from the crowd: "Amitabha."
The monks heard the words and looked in the direction of the sound.
Li Chen was also stunned, because the voice was not far from him.
Turning his head, it was a nun with a pair of curved eyebrows and a pair of bright eyes. The most impressive thing was her skin, as white as sheep fat, and even her scalp had a crystal clear feeling.
She looked a little younger than Li Chen.
She looked solemn, moved lightly with lotus steps, put her hands together and bowed to the monks, then said: "There are two people in the word meat, the inside is connected to the outside.
Living beings also eat the flesh of living beings, think carefully about people eating people."
Her voice was crisp and gentle, but her tone was consistent. If you listen carefully, it will ring in your ears and take root in your heart.
"It turned out to be the little nun Yueyin from Baiyun Temple. She is really smart and flawless."
I don't know who has recognized the identity of this nun.
Li Chen heard this and thought to himself: It turned out to be her!
The auspicious Dharma Assembly is the holy book of Buddhism in the world, and naturally there are nuns participating.
And this little nun Yueyin is a leader of the younger generation who has become famous in Buddhism in recent years.
Even in southern Xinjiang, this nun is famous.
