Mount and Blade System: Start from Pioneer Lords

#74 - Who the hell spread the news that I’m dead?

"Who the hell spread the rumor that I, Duke, had died?!"

These were Li Wei's first words as he was dug out from the pile of corpses.

He hadn't expected that while he was still alive and well, someone would spread false news in an attempt to usurp his position and inherit his Highcliff Castle.

Damn it, there are bad people among the masses!

The Lord clutched his chest, feeling a surge of anger.

"Boss…"

Zat touched his bald head, grinning foolishly.

It was obvious at a glance that this idiot had spread the news.

"Looking at your big and burly frame and thick eyebrows, good heavens, your loyalty is not absolute, which means you are absolutely disloyal."

After pulling his hand out of Zat's grasp, Li Wei took off his helmet and threw it on the ground. The already deformed helmet rolled a few times, and he wiped away the blood flowing down from his hair, spitting out a mouthful of bloody phlegm.

After a brutal slaughter, he looked as if he had swam back from a sea of blood, no longer resembling a human being.

If he appeared on the streets late at night, he would definitely scare people into thinking they had seen a ghost.

Looking around, there were bizarre corpses everywhere, covering the ground of the canyon, making it a scene of carnage. Roughly estimated, this group of wildlings had lost at least thirty to nearly forty percent of their manpower before they could no longer withstand such casualties and completely collapsed.

"Damn it, if anyone dares to say that this group of bandits from the wilderness is a ragtag bunch again, I'll be the first to argue with them!"

The Lord cursed. Such casualties before a complete collapse, regardless of which kingdom they were in, would be considered the elite of the elite.

If a real ragtag bunch had half of this bravery and spirit of sacrifice, one by one, those pioneering lords should stop pioneering and prepare to hang themselves.

"Are you alright?"

Bai Ruisi Tina, who had rushed over, saw Li Wei's figure, and a surge of unspeakable joy welled up in her heart, eventually turning into a worried question.

As the Lord moved, minced meat and blood fell from the gaps in his plate armor, forming a distinct red carpet path.

"I'm fine."

Li Wei replied as he unbuckled the armor from his body layer by layer.

Once he was only left with a linen short-sleeved shirt, he couldn't help but stretch and move his muscles.

The blood and minced meat on his body were all gifts from the enemy. Even the blow from the giant that had given him a slight disadvantage only looked intimidating but actually didn't cause him any harm.

The surrounding barbarians were completely convinced. After a great battle, they were suffering from the aftereffects of exhaustion, their bodies limp and unable to muster any strength. Those humans were lying on the ground, temporarily unable to get up.

As a result, their boss was as if nothing had happened, his physique more terrifying than a dragon.

In reality, after lying in the pile of corpses for a while, Li Wei had recovered seventy to eighty percent of his strength.

The Lord took the opportunity to open the system team panel and took a look. Except for the four orc barbarians recuperating in Highcliff Castle, none of the barbarians he brought had died, but everyone was injured.

This was within his expectations. This time, the wilderness coalition army seemed to have a large number of people, but their equipment was crude. Moreover, the barbarians were not what they used to be. The weakest were Tier 4 units, and they were all wearing two layers of armor.

After the only giant that could pose a threat to them was dealt with by him, the bandits with rusty iron knives had trouble breaking through the barbarians' armor, so it was naturally difficult to kill the orcs.

This had nothing to do with martial skills or bravery, it was purely equipment crushing.

It can be said that the iron armor guaranteed the barbarians' lower limit, and their own bravery brought out the greatest use of the iron armor.

However, looking at the casualties of the Fedde warriors, Li Wei sighed.

Excluding those stationed at Highcliff Castle, there were more than 400 young and middle-aged Fedde people here, almost all of whom participated in the battle.

As a result, only more than 200 were left now, with nearly 40% of the manpower lost, which can be described as a heavy death toll.

To be honest, if it weren't for the fact that they were protecting their own tribe, coupled with his various morale-boosting methods, they would probably have collapsed long ago.

The reason for their heavy casualties was nothing more than the barbarians' bravery causing the wildlings to subconsciously attack these weaker enemies, thus the barbarians' pressure was less than expected.

It is terrifying that the orcs did not suffer any casualties in this war, but this is not something to be proud of. There were almost no commendable tactics in this war.

It all depended on equipment crushing and which side was more afraid of death, and who couldn't withstand the casualties first.

For system soldiers, the victory of a war, in addition to various rewards, is itself the most generous harvest.

Li Wei didn't know how many of the dead enemies he had killed, but he thought it should be no less than several hundred.

Coupled with the number of people killed by the warriors, the accumulated experience was unimaginable.

At this point, all thirty or so Tier 4 orc warriors advanced to Tier 5 units, Giant Axe Guards, and the military strength of Highcliff Castle was raised to another level.

What surprised Li Wei slightly was that, under such massive experience blessing, not a single Tier 5 unit could be upgraded. It seems that the experience to advance to Tier 6 units is massive, and the experience of a single war is not enough to upgrade.

But thinking about it, it's normal. Leaving aside that sealed Tier 7 unit, Tier 6 is already a top unit, and it certainly won't easily reach the upgrade standard.

The Fedde warriors who had long been included in the system team also reached the upgrade standard. All of the Tier 1 Fedde civilians were upgraded to Tier 2 Fedde Militia, and the Tier 2 units were also upgraded to Tier 3 units, Fedde Warriors.

As for Tier 3 to Tier 4, there was not a single one.

After all, Tier 3 units are already considered regular soldiers, and this situation is normal.

Li Wei, who had long had the barbarians spread the word about the "God of War's Gift", naturally couldn't wait to upgrade all of them.

The gold coins required for the upgrade were not much, and the money remaining in the system was completely sufficient.

If he didn't upgrade against the clock, there would be suspicion of being exposed.

So now, all of the Burning Legion's orc warriors are Tier 5 units, and the Fedde warriors here are 60% Tier 2 units, and the rest are all Tier 3 units.

When fighting hard, adrenaline surges and you don't feel too tired, but once you relax, fatigue and exhaustion arrive as scheduled.

Fortunately, system unit upgrades come with some stamina recovery, although not enough to make them continue to be full of energy, but at least enough to keep them in a state of stamina where they can just move.

After the battle, after resting for a while, the barbarians walked around the battlefield one by one, searching for the wildlings who had not completely died, and giving them the final blow one by one.

Even if Li Wei was short of manpower, he would not support these wounded enemies. Ending their remaining pain one by one is the greatest grace to them.

As these enemy wounded were dealt with, sorrowful cries began to sound in the sky above the Fedde tribe.

Some of these fallen Fedde warriors had wives and children, and some were still very young with only parents, younger brothers, and sisters.

And these family members were looking for the figures of their children. When they didn't see their familiar figures among the standing people, sorrow inevitably welled up in their hearts.

This is an inevitable thing in war, and all Li Wei can do is to treat the soldiers' families as kindly as possible.
