“Lin Nuan!” Liu Mingchen said as he spat out a puff of smoke and fanned it away as if he was concerned she would choke on it.

“Are you waiting for someone here?” Lin Nuan asked despite obviously knowing who.

Liu Mingchen nodded. “Yes… I’m waiting for you!”

Lin Nuan clenched her fists in her pocket without changing her expression. She smiled gently and asked plainly, “What do you need?”

“I heard about my mother seeking you out yesterday. I want to apologize…” Liu Mingchen said to Lin Nuan with a sincere tone.

The green leaves resulted in the gentle breeze as rays of light ran through LIn Nuan’s hair.

“It’s alright!” Lin Nuan relaxed her hand in her pocket. She tucked her hair behind her ear and said, “Liu Ming brother, you don’t need to come all the way down just to apologize for something like this…”

“Actually, my mother misunderstood…” Liu Mingchen said with a gloomy look. He smiled forcefully and continued, “Love and relationships aren’t why my life is falling apart!”

Liu Mingchen took out his cigarette box and whipped out a cigarette. He thought about LIn Nuan’s presence, then put it back.

He fell silent for a moment. With a determined look, he put the cigarette box back in his pocket and looked at Lin Nuan gravely. “Lin Nuan, could you do me a favor?”

Lin Nuan examined his serious eyes and smiled. “Brother Mingchen, you didn’t even tell me what it is yet!”

Liu Mingchen pursed his lips and said, “Let’s discuss it in the car! I have something to show you!”

He already opened the car door as she hesitated.

Liu Mingchen was a decent man. Lin Nuan could trust him not to do anything inappropriate in the car!

Lin Nuan took her hands from her pockets and nodded. She sat in the car.

Liu Mingchen kept one hand on the car ceiling and leaned over to open the storage drawer on LIn Nuan’s side. He was suddenly worried Lin Nuan would be defensive and pulled back his hand. He then said to her, “There’s a document inside the storage drawer, you can take a look for yourself!”

Lin Nuan nodded and opened it. There were tons of documents inside, and some even fell out.

Liu Mingchen immediately apologized and picked them up, then passed them to Lin Nuan.

There was an awkwardness between the two of them because his mother approached Lin Nuan previously.

Lin Nuan took the documents, then Liu Mingchen closed the car door and jogged around the car to sit in the driver’s seat.

She placed the documents on her lap and began to look through them carefully…

The documents were prescriptions for cancer!

Lin Nuan listened as she continued to look through the documents.

Liu Mingchen said with his voice nearly choking, “The old lady said her granddaughter got liver cancer. Because of her age, they decided to use the best medication, Abinoque! The child’s mother passed away because of liver cancer, and her father died because he overworked to get money for her medication—they sold her house and car, anything to help her with her treatment! But this medication was too expensive. She couldn’t provide for her grandchild with her pay as a retired teacher! Yet the doctor didn’t tell them it was useless to start out using Abinoque then switch to the cheap Dojimi later on! The old lady is destroyed now!”
