My love game is too abstract
#109 - Xiao Long Bao
“She really did give me double the exercises.”
It was already late at night when Yarrow finally came out of the study with a groan and returned to his room.
“I really don't know how I offended her.”
He pushed the door open and walked into the room, only to see a dragon lying on his bed.
Zexia was sleeping on his bed, her long silver hair spread out like water on the sheets, one strap of her nightgown slipping off her arm, revealing a patch of snow-white skin.
A book was resting on her stomach, it seemed she had fallen asleep while reading and waiting for him to return.
Yarrow walked forward, sat on the bed, and looked at the sleeping silver dragon with fascination.
“So cute.”
He leaned on the bed next to Zexia, admiring her delicate sleeping face.
After admiring her for a while, he gently patted her shoulder.
“Zexia, Zexia.”
He called softly, but no matter how he called, the silver dragon kept her eyes closed, without any reaction.
Yarrow frowned slightly.
“Playing dead with me?”
He chuckled, raised his hand, and pinched her cheek.
Still no reaction.
“Still pretending.”
So he moved his gaze down, looking at those delicate and exquisite steamed buns.
He reached out and rubbed them.
There wasn't much to feel, just about the right size to hold, soft and fluffy.
Just as he was touching them, he turned his head and saw Zexia staring at him with wide eyes.
“You're awake.”
“This Queen, the Dragon Mother, will bite you to death!”
Zexia jumped up, grabbed his arm, and bit him.
“Ouch, ouch! Let go!”
A moment later, Yarrow sat on the edge of the bed, watching the silver dragon sitting cross-legged on the other side, arms crossed, cheeks puffed out, like an agitated pufferfish.
“So, what do you want to do sleeping in my room late at night?” Yarrow said.
Zexia turned her face away.
“I originally wanted to talk to you, but I saw you weren't here, so I fell asleep while waiting for you.”
“Talk? What did you want to talk to me about?” Yarrow leaned closer again.
This time, Zexia didn't resist his approach, glancing at him slightly and snorting.
“I can't be bothered to talk to you.”
“Then I can't be bothered to listen.” Yarrow spread his hands.
“I'm going to sleep, are you going back to your room, or are you going to sleep here with me?”
Zexia pouted slightly and slowly got off his bed.
But she sat on the edge of his bed without moving. After a moment of silence, she said softly:
“After you go to that academy, won't you be home anymore?”
Yarrow looked at her and blinked.
“I'll be going to school during the day then, and coming back at night.”
He paused for a moment, then asked, “What's wrong?”
Zexia sat there, but didn't say anything.
Yarrow looked at her back and seemed to understand something, leaning closer and tentatively asking:
“Could it be that you're lonely when I'm not around?”
He used a teasing tone, just wanting to tease the silver dragon, but saw that Zexia actually nodded slightly.
Yarrow widened his eyes in surprise.
Zexia quickly added, “You, don't be so sentimental! This Queen just, just finds it inconvenient to have one less servant to order around!”
The silver dragon lowered her head and said nothing more.
After a moment of silence, Yarrow leaned closer and gently put his arm around her shoulder.
Zexia only resisted for a moment, then obediently leaned into his arms.
Smelling the warm fragrance of the silver dragon, he whispered, “It's quite busy now, but after the academy assessment is over, how about I take you to the city for a couple of days?”
The silver dragon buried her head in his arms and moved slightly.
“And every weekend, when there are no classes, I can spend time with you.”
“Hmph, you'll definitely say you have something else to do then.” Zexia muttered softly.
“Although that's certainly possible,” Yarrow coughed softly.
“However, it's also possible to make up for it with other times.” He said.
“Hmm? What other times?”
The silver dragon raised her head in his arms and asked in confusion.
“For example, the evening?”
Zexia blinked, and immediately realized what he was talking about, and her face flushed red. She pushed him away.
“Don't think this Queen doesn't know what you're thinking! You perverted human!”
“Then what do you say I'm thinking?” Yarrow asked back.
“You're definitely thinking about doing…” Zexia was about to say it, but her face turned even redder.
“This Queen doesn't want to say it! Perverted human!”
Saying that, as if to vent the shame and anger in her heart, she pounced on him, grabbed Yarrow's collar, and bit him on the ear.
After biting him, she looked at him, the blush on her face not yet faded, and said with a pout:
“No matter what you do, you must spend the whole day every Saturday with this Queen, understand?”
“Okay, I hear you.” Yarrow put his arm around her slender waist.
Zexia hummed softly, then leaned back into his arms.
“Don't worry, Little Steamed Bun, there will be plenty of time to spend with you later.” Yarrow whispered.
Zexia nodded, but then raised her head in confusion:
“What is Little Steamed Bun?”
“It's a pet name for you.” Yarrow said, “Little Steamed Bun, Little Dragon Treasure, don't you like it?”
“Like it?” Zexia looked at him and chuckled twice.
“This Queen vows that if you dare call me that again, I will definitely bite your head off.”
The following days passed faster than expected. Without any extra things to worry about, every day was a high-intensity learning task. Because a series of previous events had delayed too much time, it was now really tight. Even Selena was not sure if he could pass the first theoretical assessment.
But no matter the outcome, he still worked hard to do the final review sprint, sometimes studying so hard that he forgot to eat.
Time passed like flowing water, so fast that he was caught off guard, so that when he stood in front of the academy exam room, he felt a strong sense of unreality.
“It's really here.”
He looked at the tall, pointed building in front of him. This was an exam hall outside of Horologium Academy. Here, nearly two thousand candidates would be competing for nine admissions spots at the same time.
Walking into the exam hall with this large group of people, with staff checking their exam passes at the entrance, he really felt like he was taking the college entrance exam back then.
“What's wrong? Are you very nervous?”
Selena followed him and asked.
“It's okay, a little.” Yarrow wiped the sweat from his forehead, “Oh, right, Zexia also told me to bring her a bag of dried fruit when I get back.”
“Don't think about extra things now.”
Selena took out a bar of chocolate from her pocket and handed it to him.
Yarrow took it and took a bite, took two deep breaths, and calmed down, his eyes becoming much firmer.
“Let's go!”
He strode into the exam hall.
