My love game is too abstract

#208 - Xiaoji is running away from home (Valentine's Day extra update! 3k)

【After a mixed doubles beating.】

“See! What did I tell you! She's gone bad!” Serena slammed the table, indignantly.

“Tsk, I thought she was just saying it, but she actually thought of doing something so stupid.”

Yarrow sighed and covered his forehead, equally troubled.

“She even said, ‘This way, I won't be disciplined anymore.’ Where did she learn these things!”

Serena plopped down on the sofa, arms crossed, fuming.

Yarrow frowned as well. He hadn't cared before, but now this little Hime was learning everything, good and bad. If she really learned something bad in the future,

a beating probably wouldn't solve the problem.

This really worried him.

Serena pursed her lips, pondering a solution.

“I have to go to class and school, so I can't watch her all the time. It would be great if I could send her to school to learn something,” she said.

“That won't work. The kingdom's elementary schools aren't like universities; they have age restrictions. She's already past the enrollment age for elementary school, and secondary school... her knowledge level isn't high enough to get in,” Yarrow said helplessly.

Serena was silent for a few seconds, then said, “Horog College has a family companion spot, usually for parents accompanying their children to class, but it would work for a child like Hime-Kohime.”

“You mean take her to school every day from now on?” Yarrow asked.

“Hime-Kohime isn't like Momo-Kitsune or Rurura. She's too young and doesn't have an accurate understanding of many things. If she doesn't receive proper education, what will happen to her in the future?” Serena said worriedly.

“You have a point…” Yarrow lowered his head.

“Then let's apply to the school.”

“Waaah…”

Hime-Kohime was still sobbing on her bed. Not only had she been disciplined by Serena and Yarrow's mixed doubles beating, but she had also been told that she wouldn't be allowed to watch TV for a month, her allowance would be reduced, and her outdoor activities would be suspended.

Momo-Kitsune and Rurura had come to comfort her, saying that at least she could still play board games with them, but it had no effect. Little Hime was still very sad.

“Yarrow is bad, Serena is bad too…”

She raised her tear-reddened eyes, pouting.

“There's no place for me in this house anymore…”

That line she had once heard on TV popped into her head for some reason. What came after that?

Hime-Kohime thought for a moment, then said:

“I'm going to run away from home!”

Just like in the TV shows, the protagonist has a conflict with their family, leaves a letter, and then walks away into the distance wearing a trench coat, going to a place where no one knows them, leaving only a lonely figure.

Or in fantasy stories, the protagonist carries a sword, leaves their hometown, and wanders the world, becoming a legendary hero protecting their region years later.

Hime-Kohime imagined these scenes in her head, her heart firm.

“Yes! It's decided! I'm going to run away from home! Leave this place and become an upright hero!”

Tears still hung in the corners of her eyes, but her little mouth was pursed, her eyes full of determination.

The first step in running away from home was to leave a letter. When everyone came looking for her, they would only see this letter and then be heartbroken.

Hime-Kohime's bottom was swollen from the beating, and she couldn't even sit down, so she stood at her desk, took out paper and pen, and began to write.

But she stopped as soon as she put the pen down.

Hime-Kohime couldn't write.

Or rather, she didn't recognize many characters. She could only write a few.

She tilted her head, racking her brains, and then wrote down the only sentence Serena had taught her on the paper:

“You, good. Today, the, weather, is, really, good… I… like, to, eat, strawberries.”

She thought for a moment and added her name at the end.

“Done!”

She looked at the crooked handwriting on the letter, very satisfied.

Next was packing her luggage.

She found her favorite backpack, which was shaped like a chick, and packed several pretty little dresses, her favorite snacks, and comic books.

In the end, she found that it wouldn't all fit, so she had to take out the little dresses and stuff the remaining space with snacks.

Then she took her accumulated allowance. Yarrow gave her the allowance, and Serena would occasionally give her some too. She didn't really know how to spend money, so she had saved quite a bit.

She put the bulging little money bag into her bag.

She put on the bulging bag, wore her jellyfish hat, and slung her satchel and water bottle over her shoulder, standing in front of the mirror, looking at her current appearance.

She looked like a traveler about to go on a long journey.

She nodded, ready to set off.

She walked out the door, looked around, and saw no one in the hallway. She ran down quickly.

Just as she went downstairs, a shout suddenly came from behind her.

“Hime-Kohime? Where are you going?”

She was startled and turned her head to see Vienia.

“Shhh!” Hime-Kohime quickly made a gesture of silence to her.

“I'm running away from home,” she said.

“Running away from home…”

Vienia blinked at her,

“Mm-hmm.” Hime-Kohime nodded, “I'm leaving to become the Hime Hero.”

“Oh, you're going to be a hero.” Vienia smiled, “Then, little hero, would you like to try the cookies I just baked before you leave? They're matcha flavored.”

“Cookies!” Hime-Kohime's eyes lit up.

She put down her backpack and followed Vienia.

After happily eating the cookies, she still didn't forget her purpose. She secretly put on her backpack again and walked out of the house.

Just as she left the courtyard gate, she saw a fat gray rabbit lying in the flower bed, sunbathing.

“Little Gray… I'm going to run away from home.” She went up and stroked Little Gray's head.

“Because the days ahead will be hard, I can't take you with me. Take care of yourself.”

Hime-Kohime hugged Little Gray reluctantly, then walked out of the courtyard gate and glanced at her house again.

“Yarrow, Serena, Momo-Kitsune, Rurura, Vienia, Zechariah, goodbye…”

Suppressing the sorrow in her heart, she turned her head and walked into the distance.

“Hime, we want to discuss something with you.” Yarrow walked into Hime's room but didn't see her anywhere.

“Where is she?” he wondered.

He came to the desk and saw a letter on it.

“Hello… The weather is nice today… What is this nonsense…”

In the tavern, the lively atmosphere had not subsided. A boxing match was being shown on the projector today. The men gathered under the projector, and every time a punch was thrown, they would shout and spill the mead in their cups everywhere.

“You guys be quiet!”

Hans wiped the glass, shouting at the group.

“A bunch of donkeys…” he spat.

At this moment, two red antennae popped up in front of the bar, and a small hand stretched out with difficulty, pushing two silver sicks onto the table.

“I want two slices of strawberry cake.”

A soft,糯糯 girl's voice came from under the bar.

It seemed that this customer was a bit young, and even her head couldn't reach the front of the bar.

“Sorry, little girl, we don't sell strawberry cake here,” Hans said.

“Oh, then I want a bag of bear biscuits.”

“We don't have bear biscuits either.”

“Then I want matcha-flavored milk tea.”

“We don't have milk tea either.”

“Why are you even running a shop if you don't have anything?”

“I'm a tavern! A tavern!”

Hans said angrily, propping himself up to see which brat was here to cause trouble.

But when he saw that harmless, cute face, he was stunned.

“Hey, aren't you Hime from Yarrow's house? What are you doing here?” he asked in confusion.

“Um… I…” Hime-Kohime took two steps back, stammering, “I… I ran away from home…”

“Ran away from home? Why? Did Yarrow hit you?” Hans asked in confusion.

Hime-Kohime hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

“That Yarrow, hitting such a small child. Couldn't he have just talked things out?”

Hans sighed, covering his head, then said earnestly to Hime-Kohime:

“Hime, listen to me, I know Yarrow's character. If he hit you just because you made a mistake, it was just him being angry for a moment. Running away from home is not a good behavior. It will make your family sad and worried, won't it?”

“Um…” Hime-Kohime lowered her head in distress after hearing this.

Hans scratched his head, not knowing what to do next.

Logically, he should take the child back to Yarrow, but he couldn't leave the business at the tavern.

Just as he was troubled, the tavern door opened and Martha walked in.

“Hans, a barrel of cider. Dad said he wants to entertain friends tonight.”

“Okay… Oh, Martha, you came at the right time. Look who this is?” Hans said, pointing to Hime-Kohime.

Martha glanced at her and immediately widened her eyes: “Hime-Kohime? What are you doing here?”

“I…”

Before Hime-Kohime could speak, Hans interjected:

“She ran away from home. I guess Yarrow disciplined her for something, and the child ran away in a fit of pique.”

“Is that so?” Martha asked.

Hime-Kohime nodded.

Martha sighed: “Really, how is Yarrow taking care of the child? Speaking of which, Yarrow is one thing, but how could Serena not have watched her?”

Hime-Kohime coughed twice, patted her chest and raised her chin, saying:

“Although I ran away from home, I'm also out here to train to become a great hero!”

Martha and Hans looked at her for a moment, then Martha said to Hans: “Then I'll take her away and send her back to Yarrow later.”

“Okay, then I'll trouble you,” Hans said, “Oh, this is John's cider.”

“Ran away from home?”

After Hime-Kohime disappeared, Yarrow asked around at home and only got the news from Vienia.

“I… I heard her say she was going out to adventure and become a hero. I thought she was joking. Who knew…” Vienia said guiltily.

After hearing her words, Serena lowered her head powerlessly, covering her face with her hands, looking helpless.

“She actually left without saying a word…” Momo-Kitsune said, supporting her forehead.

Rurura looked worriedly at Yarrow.

“This Hime…” Yarrow didn't know what to say either, so he could only say to everyone.

“I'll go bring her back right away.”
