My love game is too abstract

#33 - Before departure

"You're saying you've taken on another commission?" Serena put down the soup spoon she had just picked up, looking at Yarrow in confusion.

He had just returned from the city with Zexia after buying books and told her about it.

"It's a village to the east, attacked by goblins. The village chief's family was captured, and now a group of adventurers has gathered to rescue them and clear out the lair," Yarrow said.

"But didn't you just finish a commission last week? Now you're going again?" Serena said, then lowered her eyes: "Is it because you're short on money? But my alchemy equipment will be here soon, and I can subsidize some then."

"Are we going to starve?" Ji Xiaofei said worriedly.

"Of course not! It's because of other necessary reasons," Yarrow said.

The reason was the iPhone.

At first, he thought he was seeing things or that it was just a similar object.

Then he saw the phone screen light up, displaying the familiar menu interface.

The guild executive said this magical artifact was obtained two years ago, provided by the eldest son of the old village chief's family who was the only one to escape. It houses a wise witch, and you can get answers to any question by calling her name.

Damn, Steve Jobs has manifested and sent Siri to another world.

But he also didn't know why this phone could still be used after a year. Where was the power coming from?

So now he had to participate in this commission and get the head of that Goblin King.

"It'll be dangerous, won't it?" Serena lowered her head, worried.

"Don't worry, I have Zexia. She's going with me," Yarrow said.

"Huh?" Zexia, who was reading and eating, looked up after hearing this, staring at him coldly:

"Are you using the King as a servant?"

"One lemon cake every day for the next month."

"Deal."

Serena sighed: "Alright then, just be careful."

Then she added: "Consider this a vacation for you. Don't say I don't let you rest later."

Yarrow's face twitched.

"Are you saying this counts as a vacation for me?"

"Yes."

". I want to drop out of school."

The next morning, taking the still-sleepy Silver Dragon, he arrived at the Adventurers Guild's entrance. A dozen or so people had already gathered there, all accepting this commission. Because it was a lair clearing mission, there were more people than a typical adventure party.

Yarrow scanned the crowd, feeling that few of them were truly capable. This was a good thing for him, as it meant no one could compete for the spoils.

With the Silver Moon Dragon King at his side, clearing a goblin lair was as easy as a newbie tutorial.

"Hey, where are we?"

Zexia rubbed her eyes, still looking sleepy.

"We're at the Adventurers Guild. We'll gather and set off soon. Were you up late reading novels again last night?"

Zexia yawned.

"I'm hungry. Is there anything to eat?"

Yarrow took out an egg and ham sandwich from his backpack, which Serena had prepared last night for them to eat on the way.

He handed the sandwich to Zexia: "Eat this first if you're hungry. I also brought some snacks for you. Just wait a bit. Don't you freaking bite my hand!"

The Silver Dragon was still drowsy. Smelling the meat, her instincts automatically made her bite toward the scent, biting Yarrow's wrist.

Zexia opened her eyes and, realizing her mistake, spat and stuck out her tongue in disgust.

"Don't bite people and then look disgusted, you damn dragon!"

Yarrow cursed inwardly.

He was about to take out a handkerchief to wipe off the saliva the Silver Dragon had left on his wrist, but he suddenly remembered what the alchemy workshop owner had said.

One spoonful of dragon saliva is worth two gold lang.

"Should I save it?"

He shook his head and wiped his wrist clean.

"Forget it, it's too gross."

"Hey, where's my book?" Zexia asked, chewing on the sandwich.

"I brought it for you," Yarrow said, taking the book out of his bag.

Zexia took it and started reading while eating her sandwich.

At this moment, he noticed that several adventurers around him were paying attention to him, or rather, to Zexia.

"Hey, am I seeing things? That's a Dragonkin,"

"Why would a Dragonkin participate in such a low-level commission?"

"Looking at her hair color, could she be from the Echino family?"

"I heard Dragonkin are very strong. Does that mean we can coast through this?"

Whispers spread around, and Yarrow belatedly realized that he should have concealed Zexia's identity before coming. Having the title of Dragonkin was too eye-catching.

Just then, someone coughed loudly and stood on higher ground, shouting to the assembled crowd below:

"Everyone! Please listen to me for a moment!"

Everyone looked over. It was a young man with slicked-back hair, wearing elaborate leather armor, and carrying a sword on his back.

Standing on high, he addressed the people below with impassioned words:

"Good morning, everyone! My name is Charles Wood, a swordsman in training. I believe most of you are meeting for the first time, but this is a very dangerous mission, so I hope we can all unite! Help each other! Successfully complete this mission, and I look forward to drinking together in the tavern afterward!"

After his speech, the crowd exchanged glances.

"Who the hell is that?"

"Don't know him,"

"Just a chuunibyou fool with an overinflated ego."

Charles jumped down and walked up to Zexia, giving a not-so-standard gentleman's bow.

"Well then, beautiful Dragonkin lady, we will be temporary companions from now on. Please take care of me, and if you don't mind, may I ask for your honorable name?"

Zexia was eating her sandwich and reading her book, ignoring him.

Laughter came from around them.

Charles was a little embarrassed, slightly raised his head, and called out, "Dragonkin lady?"

"Tch," Zexia frowned, her golden vertical pupils shifting from the book to glance at him.

"Shut your mouth, noisy human!"

Charles's heart constricted at the glare, and he quickly retreated a few steps, forcing a smile: "Then, then I won't disturb your precious mealtime ."

He fled.

"I really should have concealed her identity ." Yarrow sighed inwardly.

Inside the dark, damp cave.

Susan was being dragged along by two strong goblins.

She was thrown to the ground and weakly got up.

In front of her, there seemed to be a person lying in the darkness.

She widened her eyes and quickly ran to the person's side, calling out loudly: "Husband!"

The person lying down slowly raised his head. It was her husband, Old Mike, the village chief of Bakka Village, who was ten years older than her and already fifty-four years old.

Old Mike saw his wife, tears streaming down his face. His voice trembled:

"Susan ah… my dear, your husband is already… already unclean ."

"What are you saying?"

Susan was stunned. At this moment, a huge figure emerged from the darkness behind her.

It was a green-skinned goblin covered in fat, wearing a fur skirt around its waist and a string of pale human skull necklaces around its neck, holding a black fir staff in its hand.

He looked at the cowering Susan, grinned, revealing a mouth full of yellow teeth, and said in a rough voice.

"Your husband's mouth is really tight. Even after I poked him to the top, he still wouldn't reveal the whereabouts of that treasure ."

"Waa…"

Old Mike made a painful whimper.

The Goblin King looked at the trembling Susan: "What about you?"

Susan looked at the sobbing Old Mike, clenched the dirt on the ground with both hands, gritted her teeth, and although her whole body was trembling, she still firmly replied:

"I also… I also won't say it ."

"Excellent ." The Goblin King became excited.

"Let me tell you a secret."

The Goblin King gave her a disgusting smile:

"You know, I especially love married women, especially mature and charming ones like you."
