Mystery: Chaos Path

#10 - Rowling's new vest

The professor at Tingen University was evidently a reasonable person. Upon learning that Klein had found other employment, he offered no objections, instead politely expressing his congratulations.

As Klein exchanged a few pleasantries and prepared to leave, he happened to encounter his mentor, Professor Quentin, and Mr. Azik, a history teacher.

Klein also noticed a young man he didn't recognize accompanying the two teachers.

"Good morning, Professor, Mr. Azik," Klein greeted them promptly, then looked at the young man beside them with curiosity. "May I ask how to address this teacher?"

The young man appeared to be about his age, in his early twenties, with sunshine-like golden hair and emerald eyes. He was remarkably handsome, the kind of person who wouldn't look out of place on the cover of a fashion magazine.

Professor Quentin first explained why he was there, then took the initiative to introduce him: "This is Mr. Jack Jones, a new teacher who just joined the History Department at Tingen University. He's a very talented graduate of Backlund University."

Jack Jones, seriously? Are you a pirate of the Caribbean?

Hearing the name, Klein couldn't help but mutter inwardly. He couldn't be blamed; the images of Captain Jack and Davy Jones were deeply ingrained in anyone who had seen the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series. Hearing a combination of the two names was simply too much not to comment on.

However, despite his inner吐槽, Klein outwardly displayed a polite smile and extended his hand. "Hello, Mr. Jones, I'm Klein Moretti, Professor Quentin's student, and a recent graduate." He then added jokingly, "It's a pity, if I hadn't found a job beforehand, we might have been colleagues."

It doesn't matter, even if we can't be colleagues, we can still be fellow countrymen!

The young man, who was actually Roland, muttered similarly in his heart, while on his face, he wore a sunny smile as he grasped Klein's hand.

"Hello, I'm Jack Jones, but you don't need to call me Mr. Jones, just Jack is fine. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Moretti." After a pause, Roland also said jokingly, "Actually, I'd prefer it if people called me Captain Jack."

Upon hearing this, Klein's gaze flickered momentarily before quickly returning to normal. He withdrew his hand and readily adopted the more casual address. "Alright, Jack, you can call me Klein." He then asked, feigning curiosity, "Why Captain Jack?"

Could the Great Emperor have brought "Pirates of the Caribbean" over here as well? Or perhaps...

"Because the name Jack just sounds like it's perfect for a captain!" Roland said, his expression revealing a hint of regret, as if he had made a joke that no one understood.

Klein: …

No way, could he have really encountered a fellow countryman?

Klein wasn't surprised that he wasn't the only transmigrator in this world. After all, Rosell was an obvious transmigrator predecessor. However, he really didn't expect to encounter a suspected fellow countryman so soon in this foreign world.

This made Klein feel somewhat pleasantly surprised, but he still restrained himself.

After all, he couldn't be sure whether the person in front of him was really a fellow transmigrator, and even if he was, Klein wouldn't choose to immediately acknowledge him.

Meeting a fellow countryman was certainly a pleasant surprise, but no one could guarantee that all transmigrators were good people. Klein felt it was better to be cautious.

Roland was naturally unsurprised by Klein's reaction, and he didn't intend to expose anything.

As for the identity Roland was currently using, it was naturally the result of his efforts over the past two days.

—Jack Jones, a graduate of the History Department at Backlund University, came to Tingen University as a teacher on the recommendation of his advisor, and had just started his job.

As a former prankster with numerous aliases, Roland naturally knew how to forge a realistic identity. The "Jack Jones" file now resided in the Backlund University archives, with a clear record of four years of study, leaving no room for doubt.

Even if the Nighthawks went to Backlund University to inquire, they would find that this identity truly existed—because it was indeed a real person, only the original name wasn't "Jack Jones." This was the new name Roland had changed.

The most realistic disguise was to replace an existing person. Of course, Roland wasn't an evil person. He simply did a very simple thing—

He found a recently graduated student at Backlund University who was in distress and whose physical appearance had some overlap with Roland's. He made a deal with the student, secretly sent him to another city after the deal was completed, then disguised himself as the student, took the letter of recommendation to Tingen, interviewed, and got the job, resulting in the Jack Jones teacher now standing before Klein.

Of course, this wasn't without flaws, but in an era without instant communication and few photos, the possibility of exposure was extremely small. Roland didn't need to use this fake identity all the time. As long as he could successfully raise Azik's and Pales' favorability, that would be the completion of his goal, and it wouldn't matter if the identity was exposed after that.

Klein naturally didn't know that the "Jack Jones" teacher in front of him was a newly created alias. He continued to chat with the teachers for a while, and they unknowingly discussed the murder of "Welch and Naya" by burglars. This was the public explanation for the Black Diviner incident, as Extraordinary events weren't made public in this era.

Although Klein knew some of the inside story, he could only evade the topic. He deliberately revealed keywords such as "Solomon Empire" and "Antigonus Notebook" related to the incident, wanting to see if his knowledgeable history teachers knew anything about it—this part wasn't confidential information.

No mistake, first release on 一一一一一一一!

"Are you talking about the Antigonus family?" While the two professors were still pondering, Roland appropriately expressed surprise, clearly knowing some inside information.

"Jack, you know about the Antigonus family?" Klein looked over with some surprise and a hint of delight in his heart.

He was indeed very eager to learn about the Antigonus family's notebook.

"Yes, I saw some records about the Antigonus family in my ancestor's diary... cough, in ancient books. It's a very mysterious and powerful family that was active in the Fourth Epoch. It's said that this family is not only related to the Solomon Empire, but also inextricably linked to the Tudor Empire."

Roland paused here, not continuing, but looked at Klein, with a curious and probing expression. "But the Antigonus family has been in decline for a long time, and almost no one knows about it now. Why are you asking about this?"
