Natural God's Gift

#16 - False Alarm

Now, Black Rice was genuinely surprised. It had been traveling with the elders of its clan on the continent for a year, hearing countless legendary stories. It had also heard of insects with the ability to resist the detection of mental intent, but those were all extremely powerful insect mountain lords and insect overlords. Each insect had its own special experience and the potential to become an insect king.

But now, even a dead conch shell could resist the detection of mental intent. Did that mean this conch was also extraordinary in life?

Could it be the shell left behind by a Force Warrior from the ocean after death? Bold speculation arose in Black Rice's mind. Although the God of Nature didn't care about the sea, Force Warriors were not uncommon in the ocean. On the contrary, in the stories passed down by generations of spider elders, one could hear of various Force Warriors in the sea, some of whom even traded with Flame Spider merchants.

"How is it?" Seeing Black Rice's silence, Fourleaf tentatively inquired.

"Fourleaf, I admit you're right. This conch is somewhat special. My mental intent can hardly penetrate it. You said yesterday that mental intent disappeared into the conch. How did you do that? Show me now."

"It's like this…" Fourleaf held up the pointed end of the conch and focused a stream of mental intent to pass through the hole at the tip.

"Ooo…" A loud mental intent emanated from the conch, reverberating throughout the woodland.

"Huh?" White Grass, who had been quietly watching them tinker with the conch, was startled by this mental intent.

Not only White Grass, but even Fourleaf and Black Rice were stunned, instinctively dropping the conch.

Mental intent has no sound, but it allows Force Warriors to accurately capture information during transmission.

For example, if Fourleaf and White Grass were talking with mental intent, and Black Rice was within range, its brain would subconsciously receive their conversation. In general, mental intent is a brainwave information transmission method similar to sound.

Originally, Fourleaf's mental intent only extended two or three meters, but the mental intent transmitted through the conch covered the entire woodland, directly expanding the range of mental intent by hundreds or thousands of times.

"Who is it?" Mountain Lord Hickory was directly startled by this mental intent and rushed over, constantly transmitting information to the little warriors along the way: "There may be foreign enemies invading. Hide yourselves."

At the same time, it also conveyed mental intent to Overlord Green Maple, who was guarding the God-given Seed of Lucky Clover in the distance: "Unknown mental intent has erupted in Hundred Fruit Forest. Be vigilant."

The little warriors, who were originally curious and preparing to come out to investigate the source of the mental intent, were frightened by Mountain Lord Hickory's words and hid trembling in their nests.

Mountain Lord Hickory quickly arrived at Fourleaf's nest, spreading its mental intent to find the figure that had just erupted with mental intent. After searching around, it found nothing but three little warriors.

"White Grass, Fourleaf, are you alright? Black Rice, you're here too?"

"What happened? Who was here just now?"

White Grass asked in confusion, "Mountain Lord Hickory, what's wrong?"

"Whose mental intent was that just now?"

So it turned out that the mental intent had alarmed Mountain Lord Hickory.

White Grass: "It was Fourleaf's mental intent."

"Fourleaf's mental intent?" Mountain Lord Hickory almost thought it had misheard: "Fourleaf is just a second-stage junior warrior. How could it possibly make mental intent cover the entire forest?"

Black Rice: "It really was Fourleaf's mental intent, Mountain Lord Hickory. You are knowledgeable and experienced. We were just about to ask you about this."

"Oh? Then tell me what exactly is going on?" Mountain Lord Hickory felt that the little warriors shouldn't lie to it, but this was too unbelievable, wasn't it?

"It's this conch," Fourleaf used its four front paws to hold the conch in front of Mountain Lord Hickory.

"Conch?" Mountain Lord Hickory picked up the conch and examined it. It had seen this conch yesterday. There was nothing strange about it.

Black Rice: "Just now, I had Fourleaf blow it with mental intent, and the sound reverberated throughout Hundred Fruit Forest."

"Blew it with mental intent?" Mountain Lord Hickory tried to condense mental intent to blow the conch, but the mental intent simply passed from one end to the other without any change. However, it also noticed that this conch was indeed somewhat special, able to restrain the spread of mental power.

"No, Fourleaf, try again."

"Oh," Fourleaf honestly took the conch and once again condensed a stream of mental intent to blow the conch.

"Ooo…" A long mental intent spread out from the mountain forest.

Mountain Lord Hickory's spirit was shaken. It really worked?

It took the conch and examined it carefully. Fourleaf's mental intent could blow the conch horn, so why couldn't its own mental intent? Was it a creation of an alien civilization capable of recognizing its owner? It didn't seem like it either.

Mountain Lord Hickory turned the conch upside down and examined it inch by inch, discovering that the conch didn't amplify Fourleaf's own mental intent. It was just that Fourleaf's mental intent was magnified countless times after passing through the conch's spiral body. In essence, it was the same as other conches, except that other conches amplified sound, while this conch amplified mental intent.

"The Star Realm of Nature is full of miracles." Mountain Lord Hickory didn't understand the logic behind it but sensed that it was similar to some creations of alien civilizations. Many creations of alien civilizations had the effect of amplifying sound. Some good creations of alien civilizations could even create water, ice, fire, electricity, and earth out of thin air. Its ability to amplify mental intent was neither good nor bad, not a particularly precious item.

It returned the conch to Fourleaf: "This thing can amplify mental intent. Don't blow it randomly. If you want to blow it, go to a more open place."

Fourleaf hugged the conch, staring with its bright spider eyes: "Mountain Lord Hickory, is this valuable? How many Origin Stones is it worth?"

"It's quite valuable to you. It should be worth tens of thousands of Origin Stones, but I just tried it, and it seems other insects can't use it, so you won't be able to sell it. Just keep it for yourself."

"Ah?" Fourleaf was very happy when it heard it could sell for tens of thousands of Origin Stones, but then Mountain Lord Hickory said that other insects couldn't use it, which disappointed it again.

"You should rest now." Mountain Lord Hickory simply said a few words and crawled back the way it came to cancel the alert for the other spiders.

"Rest early then, I'll bring the Origin Stones and Force food here for you tomorrow morning." Seeing that it was a false alarm, Black Rice also relaxed and left.

"Goodbye, Fourleaf." White Grass really wanted to take the conch and play with it, but when it heard Mountain Lord Hickory say it was worth tens of thousands of Origin Stones, it was afraid of breaking it and not being able to afford it, so it didn't dare to say anything.

Fourleaf looked left and right, not finding where this conch was worth tens of thousands of Origin Stones, but Mountain Lord Hickory was much more knowledgeable than itself. What it said shouldn't be wrong. Such an expensive treasure couldn't be left outside. It ran to the bottom of the big tree and expanded its nest overnight, wanting to hide the conch inside the nest.
