Reborn at Hogwarts
Chapter 29 The First Day of Class at Hogwarts (Modified)
"So, can any of you tell me, if I want to find a bezoar, where do I need to go?"
In the dimly lit classroom, there are glass jars along the walls, all kinds of animal specimens are soaked in disturbingly colored liquids, and an inexplicable cold atmosphere always lingers in the classroom and lingers.
Severus Snape was still wearing his trademark black robes, which made him look like a bat on the hunt. He was standing right next to the blackboard, looking around with indifferent and empty eyes, no matter which little wizard his eyes swept over, it would make the face of the other party turn pale.
This is the first class for first-year freshmen. Unfortunately, what Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff freshmen have to deal with is that they are recognized as not giving good looks to students other than Slytherin Professor Severus Snape and his Potions class.
Ivan shrank into a corner of the classroom at the very beginning of the lesson. He didn't expect Snape to completely ignore him because of this, but because it was not easy to be found in the corner and he could do some small tricks.
Like being lazy or something...
Of course that wasn't his original plan.
While on the train, Ivan also thought about whether he should memorize the contents of the book carefully, so as to leave a good impression on Snape, so that he can ask him questions later.
But after the incident in the diary, Ivan only hoped that he would become a transparent person and not be noticed by him.
However, "reality often backfires", Ivan has experienced it more than once.
"... Mr. Ivan Vesemir, please answer this question."
Snape's faint voice sounded.
The old bat...
"The bezoar needs to be obtained from the stomach of the goat, Professor." Ivan stood up helplessly, and replied honestly.
"A well-regulated answer." Snape said flatly, "Sit down. If I see you distracted in my class next time, I will take you to confront the Sorting Hat and ask if it You assigned the wrong school."
Ivan sat down in silence, and he heard laughter that he was trying to suppress vaguely from around him.
"What's so funny, Mr. Joel Taylor?" Snape turned around suddenly, staring at a Ravenclaw boy who was giggling, his expression somber.
"Uh uh uh, I think of happy things." Joel Taylor was obviously taken aback by Snape, he blinked desperately and stammered.
"If you can answer my next question, I think you will be even happier, because then I won't deduct points for Ravenclaw." Snape's words seemed to be squeezed out of his teeth General, "Please tell me, the twelve uses of dragon blood?"
"I, I, I, I don't know, Professor." Joel looked around with a mournful face. Every freshman he saw lowered his head very consciously, avoiding his sight. In the end, he could only use one A voice that seemed about to cry in a second answered Snape's question.
"Very well, Mr. Taylor. One point has been deducted from Ravenclaw for your outstanding performance." Snape lightly ticked off his little notebook, "Please sit down."
Joel sat down with shame on his face, and the classroom became silent.
"You are here to learn the precise science and rigorous craft of potion preparation." In the classroom that became quiet and even dead silent, Snape spoke, his voice was almost a little higher than a whisper, But everyone caught his every word, and he had the intimidating power to bring order to the classroom with little effort, "Since there's no silly wand waving here, many of you won't believe it's magic I don't expect you to really appreciate the beauty of the simmering cauldron emitting white smoke and bursts of fragrance. You won't really understand the magic of the liquid flowing into people's blood vessels, which makes people's hearts sway and their minds blurred Magic...I can teach you how to raise your reputation, brew glory, even prevent death—but only if you're not one of the dumb fools I've been dealing with so often."
After saying this, Snape walked away from Joel, returned to the blackboard, waved his wand lightly, and lines of writing quickly appeared on the blackboard.
"...Now, please tell me, why didn't you write down Mr. Vesemir's answer?"
In an instant, all the little wizards lowered their heads and wrote furiously in their notebooks. For a while, the only sound left in the classroom was the swipe of quill pens.
Ivan secretly laughed. Snape's "speech" and teaching methods, nine out of ten, already have a set of fixed templates, and they do this to freshmen once a year.
"Mr. Vesemir, what are you laughing at?" Snape's voice suddenly came from afar.
"I also remembered the happy things." Ivan replied quickly.
...
In Ivan's eyes, the morning passed quickly. Although he wanted to avoid Snape's attention, he couldn't hide his interest in Potions. Gradually, he began to devote himself to the lessons, and even had some unfinished thoughts after class.
But in the eyes of other students, Potions class was unimaginably long, and Snape's strict teaching style was also daunting. As soon as the get out of class was over, the students scattered and rushed out of the classroom. After leaving the castle dungeon, their complaints could be heard almost in the entire corridor.
"I don't think there is a more annoying subject in Hogwarts than Potions." Ivan heard a girl in the crowd complain.
Ivan glanced at the timetable in his hand.
On Monday afternoon, History of Magic and Professor Binns' names were on the list.
The corner of Ivan's mouth couldn't help twitching.
If he remembered correctly, this course might be the course that students hate the most.
History of Magic is the only course taught by ghosts at Hogwarts. When Ivan was sitting drowsy in the classroom, he heard two Hufflepuff students discussing in a low voice, saying that Professor Binns was in He fell asleep in front of the fireplace in the faculty lounge, and forgot to bring his own body when he went to class the next morning, which shows that Professor Binns was indeed very old when he was alive.
Professor Binns babbled throughout the class in a monotonous voice, while students scribbled down names and dates, confusing Merrick the Bad with Urick the Weird.
After two Potions lessons and a History of Magic lesson, the first day of classes at Hogwarts came to an end for the freshmen of Ravenclaw College.
As for the second day's courses, they were Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, and Transfiguration.
Speaking of Defense Against the Dark Arts, Ivan suddenly remembered that he had never met the professor of this subject.
