The ward was filled with the smell of disinfectant. The sun shone through the window with difficulty, casting a few weak rays of light, as if it was also saddened by our current predicament. Xiaolu was lying on the bed, her eyes were full of fatigue and pain, but she still tried to squeeze out a smile when her eyes met mine. That smile, like a ray of dawn in the darkness, instantly warmed my heart and made me more determined to fight side by side with her.

I gently held Xiaolu's hand and felt her weak pulse, as if it was the melody of life that we beat together. "Xiaolu, don't be afraid, we will get through this difficult time together." I said softly, with unquestionable firmness in my voice. Xiaolu nodded slightly, and her hand gently returned to my palm. Although her strength was weak, it conveyed endless trust and courage. "Remember the time we went on a trip to the beach? You chased the waves, and your laughter echoed on the beach. That was my most unforgettable picture." I began to recall every bit of our past, trying to use beautiful memories to dispel the haze of the disease that enveloped our hearts. Xiaolu's eyes lit up, as if those beautiful moments were replaying before her eyes. "Yes, we were so carefree back then." She responded weakly, her voice was soft but full of affection.

In between accompanying Xiaolu, I had to devote my energy to the company's affairs. Every time I left the hospital and went to the company, my heart was full of contradictions and struggles. On one side was my beloved Xiaolu, who was fighting a desperate battle with the disease and needed me to accompany her at all times; on the other side was the company I had worked hard for many years, which carried the expectations and dreams of countless employees and my unfulfilled business ambitions. "I can't give up either side, I have to find a balance." I said to myself silently in my heart, although I was exhausted, but my eyes were still firm.

In the company, I raced against time to handle various affairs. When meeting with team members, I tried to concentrate and listen to their reports and suggestions, but my thoughts often drifted back to Xiaolu's bed in the hospital. "The progress of this project cannot be delayed. Everyone should work closely together." I forced myself to give instructions, while thinking about how to complete the work in the shortest time so that I can return to Xiaolu as soon as possible. My colleagues seemed to have noticed my abnormality, and they all expressed their full support for me and shared more work pressure. "Don't worry about taking care of your sister-in-law. We are here at the company." The words of an old employee made me feel warm and determined to find a balance between the company and the family.

Back to the hospital, I quickly switched back to the role of accompanying Xiaolu. I would tell her some interesting stories in the company so that she could feel the vitality and energy of the outside world even when she was sick. "Today, a stray cat came to the company and wandered around the office, making everyone laugh." I said to Xiaolu with a smile, and she also showed a long-lost smile on her face. "I really want to see that cute kitten." Xiaolu said softly. I know that these little things can make her forget the torture of illness for a while, and also make our hearts closer.

At night, when Xiaolu fell asleep, I would sit in the corner of the ward and turn on the computer to deal with some urgent company emails. The lights were dim and silent, with only the sound of keyboard tapping echoing in the room. I often stopped what I was doing and looked at Xiaolu's quiet sleeping face on the bed, feeling guilty and self-blame. "Xiaolu, I'm sorry that you have to endure my busyness when you need me the most. But I know that only when I become strong can we get out of the predicament together." I said to her silently in my heart, tears welling up in my eyes, but I tried hard not to let them fall, for fear of waking up Xiaolu who was sleeping soundly.

As time went by, Xiaolu's condition still did not improve significantly, but our feelings became deeper in this ordeal. We encouraged and supported each other, and built a solid line of defense with love and faith to resist the ruthless invasion of the disease. I know that the road ahead is still full of hardships and challenges, but as long as we walk hand in hand, we will definitely be able to find our own light in this darkness. Whether facing Xiaolu's illness or the company's affairs, I will continue to move forward firmly and write our story with my strength and perseverance, because I believe that love and hope will never be defeated.
