#21 - Sculpture fragments
Lin Yi walked onto the podium. Before he reached the edge of the announcement board, he suddenly noticed some white powder and fragments on the floor near the podium.
"Huh? What's this?" Doubt arose in Lin Yi's heart as he reached out and picked up a fragment.
It was a thin, brittle fragment that looked like coconut flakes. Combined with the white powder, it was easy to associate it with broken chalk.
He looked up at the chalk trough in front of the blackboard.
There was no chalk in the trough.
He looked at the podium again.
There was no chalk box on the podium.
"There's no chalk in the entire classroom…" He frowned secretly. "So where did this stuff come from? The head teacher didn't seem to notice it when signing in either?"
Just then, Wei Liang's startled cry exploded like thunder in Lin Yi's ears: "Damn, this, this, this… this is plaster fragments, isn't it?!"
Wei Liang stared intently at the fragment in Lin Yi's hand, jumping as high as a rabbit whose tail had been stepped on.
Then he noticed the white powder near Lin Yi's feet. He immediately started shouting "Holy crap!" while circling the white powder, the look of fear in his eyes growing increasingly intense.
Lin Yi was startled by Wei Liang's reaction. He no longer had time to worry about the white fragments and quickly calmed Wei Liang down before asking, "What's wrong, Liangzi? What did you find?"
Wei Liang pointed a trembling finger at the white fragment in Lin Yi's hand: "Old Lin, what you're holding is a plaster fragment!"
"I recognize it now." Lin Yi gently snapped the plaster fragment, and it broke with a 'snap'.
Lin Yi threw the fragment away, dusted his hands, and looked at Wei Liang's terrified expression, asking in confusion, "But this just seems like an ordinary plaster fragment… I don't see any problem."
Wei Liang took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, and then said, "Old Lin, you're right, but the fact that there are plaster fragments means that someone brought something containing plaster into the classroom, and left these fragments and powder behind…"
"Then tell me… what in the school is related to plaster?"
Lin Yi thought for a moment, and his pupils suddenly constricted. He blurted out, "Sculptures?!"
The word "sculptures" instantly triggered a violent brainstorming session in his mind. Plaster was a fragment of a sculpture, but there weren't any sculptures in the classroom yesterday, which meant…
"After the classroom door was closed yesterday, someone moved a sculpture into the classroom?!"
Last night's memories surged uncontrollably, and fragmented clues began to combine…
"After the lights went out, the classroom door opened…"
"Then the mist outside the teaching building also came into the classroom, and then those strange classmates began to act one by one…"
"So, the thing on the podium was actually a sculpture, and later the security guard passed by and used an iron chain to take it out of the classroom, and fought with that unknown creature that moved it into the classroom?!"
"This fragment… fell off when the iron chain whipped the sculpture!"
"Why did the security guard pass by the classroom but not come in?"
"And what's the deal with the sculpture?"
Lin Yi subconsciously began to think, his brain running like a motor, gradually becoming overloaded.
"Wait, wait, wait!!!"
"The student handbook says that all sculptures are kept in the art building!"
"But… neither the teaching building rules nor the school map attached to the rules mark the location of the art building!"
Lin Yi became the center of thought, and his thoughts began to become chaotic.
It seemed that something beyond cognition was quietly cutting into his cognitive domain…
The terrifying brainstorming seemed to destroy everything. Lin Yi stood frozen in place as if petrified, and the temperature around him seemed to drop.
The white powder on the floor tiles near the podium trembled slightly…
"Crack—snap!"
Just as Lin Yi was deeply trapped in a storm of thought, as if about to be swallowed by messy fragments of thought, the classroom door was opened from the outside.
…
The classroom door opened, and warm sunlight poured into the classroom through the door frame, slamming down on Lin Yi.
Lin Yi, who was deeply mired in the quagmire, suddenly felt a patch of white light falling from the void, enveloping his entire body.
A feeling of warmth and comfort that he hadn't felt since following the blue bus into the mountainous area reappeared on him.
"So warm…"
Lin Yi subconsciously stopped thinking, and the terrifying brainstorming gradually subsided.
He slowly withdrew his thoughts, and a call like a distant echo sounded in his ears.
The call was urgent: "Old Lin… Old Lin… Old Lin…"
As the sound gradually grew louder, he felt himself being shaken.
He withdrew his thoughts, slowly opened his eyes, and his vision went from blurry to clear. What came into view was Wei Liang's anxious face.
At this moment, Wei Liang was grabbing his shoulders, shaking him vigorously.
Seeing him wake up, Wei Liang breathed a long sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from his forehead: "Old Lin, you're finally awake. If you hadn't woken up, I was going to resort to extreme measures."
Lin Yi suddenly realized something and looked at his watch immediately.
8:13.
"8:13? I was spacing out for half an hour?!" He looked at Wei Liang in shock.
Wei Liang was still panting, and waved his hands repeatedly upon hearing this: "Not quite, not quite, at most twenty minutes. At first, I saw you not moving, and I thought you were thinking, but then I realized that you were actually standing there like you were possessed!"
"Old Lin, did you think of something strange again? But wait a minute before you tell me, are you sure it's something I can know?"
Lin Yi paused slightly, hesitated for a moment, then sighed helplessly and said, "Well, forget it then. But… it seems like you brought up the sculpture thing yourself?"
"I mentioned sculptures, but I know very little about them!" Wei Liang said quickly. "I know they have something to do with art students, and art students… are rumored to be a very weird bunch!"
Mentioning art students, the look of fear on Wei Liang's face was hard to hide.
Lin Yi also remembered Wei Liang's reaction when he saw the female teacher and immediately asked, "Liangzi, is there something wrong with the art students?"
Wei Liang pondered for a long time before finally saying in a deep voice, "I don't know. The last time I came, I never encountered any art students, but I heard my roommate at the time talk about things related to art students…"
"It seemed to be something about a library, something about a sculpture experience class…"
"I didn't pay attention at first, but later… my roommates didn't come back at night one after another, and I never saw them again until I left."
“The information I know is very limited, I only know that they seem to have their own ‘rules,’ and they are very different from us…”
Lin Yi gradually fell silent.
Wei Liang had not told him these things before.
He glanced at the plaster fragments and powder on the ground, and suddenly noticed that the white plaster powder had hardened into fragments under the sunlight.
“Huh? This powder can actually harden?” He crouched down, curiously touched it, then rubbed it between his fingertips, and found that his fingers didn't pick up any white at all.
“That's not ordinary plaster fragments.” A cold voice sounded behind him.
Lin Yi looked back in surprise, and suddenly found Xu Shunkang had appeared at the classroom door at some point, holding the doorknob in his hand.
He had pushed the door open just now.
But he didn't speak until now.
“I didn’t expect to see you guys again, you're really two lucky fellows.” Xu Shunkang's tone was tinged with banter, then he looked at Lin Yi and said, “But you still don't listen to advice as always.”
“Luck favors fools, so you better not be too smart here.”
As he spoke, he handed two rolls of biscuits to Lin Yi and Wei Liang respectively.
Lin Yi and Wei Liang looked surprised.

“What are you doing? Although I don’t really like you, I predicted that I might see you, so I specially brought you some food.” Xu Shunkang said, “Looking at you two with your kidney deficiency, it’s obvious that you didn’t have a good night, right?”
“Abnormal weather is like this, especially…” Xu Shunkang narrowed his eyes, a glint of light flowing in his eyes, “Like the situation last night.”
“Hey, take it and eat.”
Although Xu Shunkang's words were harsh, he seemed to have a good heart.
Lin Yi and Wei Liang took the biscuits and slowly began to eat.
Soon, Xie Huayang's figure appeared at the classroom door.
“Fatty, where are the biscuits I asked you to bring? Hurry, hurry, I'm starving!” As soon as Xie Huayang appeared, he reached out to Xu Shunkang for the biscuits.
Lin Yi and Wei Liang, who had just eaten two biscuits, stiffened and couldn't help but look at Xu Shunkang.
The corners of Xu Shunkang's mouth twitched slightly, and he quickly patted his head and said, “Oh, I forgot to buy them for you!”
“Forget my ass, did you give my biscuits to them?” Xie Huayang smelled the biscuits, pointed at Lin Yi and Wei Liang, and his eyebrows were twisted into a "川" shape.
“The convenience store only has that one type of biscuit, don't tell me they happened to go to the cafeteria, happened to not have breakfast, and then happened to each buy a roll of biscuits, and then happened to be seen by me when they brought them back to eat!”
Xu Shunkang put on a smiling face: “Actually… things are just that coincidental.”
“Okay, okay, so you're playing like this! I've remembered it!” Xie Huayang snorted, stopped talking nonsense with Xu Shunkang, found a seat and sat down.
Lin Yi looked at the awkward Xu Shunkang and suddenly understood:
There was no top-notch prediction at all, it was clearly just a post-hoc performance with superb acting skills.
Xu Shunkang probably didn't think they could really survive that night…
“By the way, the schedule has been updated.” Lin Yi, feeling obligated since he accepted the biscuits, pointed to the schedule and reminded Xie Huayang.
“The schedule is meaningless.” Xie Huayang said unhappily, “It's all the same for us.”
Lin Yi was met with a cold shoulder, so he stopped talking, and then walked to the notice board next to the blackboard with Wei Liang.
At the same time, he tried his best to conceal the action of eating biscuits with his body…
Xie Huayang's eyes twitched when he saw these two doing this, but he didn't say anything more.
…
Arriving at the notice board, Lin Yi looked at the schedule.
The schedule of S City University is similar to that of Lin Yi's own university, with not many courses in themselves, but the courses clearly marked three physical education classes.
These three physical education classes are on May 7th, May 9th, and May 11th in the afternoon, respectively, and the time is from 14:30 to 15:30 in the afternoon.
There is also a row of remarks next to the word 'physical education' on the schedule:
[Physical education classes will be canceled in case of rain.]
[Please students arrive at the gymnasium before class, please arrange your time reasonably.]
“It looks very normal.” Lin Yi touched his chin and muttered to himself: “Three physical education classes a week, one hour each time…”
“It's almost like taking a break after lunch and then going to the gymnasium for class, and then after class, you can immediately go to the cafeteria for dinner.”
“It's almost half a day, rounding up.”
Wei Liang smacked his lips beside Lin Yi and smiled, “Physical education class is a good thing!”
Lin Yi asked curiously: “Oh, is there a saying?”
Wei Liang smiled slyly: “Of course there is a saying!”
“You can meet physical education students?”
“Not entirely.” Wei Liang said, while trying hard to purse his lips, using his eyes to signal Xu Shunkang and Xie Huayang, and muttered, “Didn't you just meet physical education students? You can also meet physical education students in regular classes.”
Lin Yi was puzzled and said: “Then what's so special about physical education class? Is there another saying?”
Wei Liang leaned over and smiled evilly: “There are… girls in physical education class!”
He winked and raised his eyebrows.
Lin Yi glared at him with an expression that said 'I overestimated you,' and suddenly doubted the value of his previous sentence, 'Besides reading Seven Days comics, you also have to take physical education class.'
“Just… this?” He despised.
“Ah? You say ‘just this’?” Wei Liang sneered, and immediately added in a cheeky tone, “There are swimming classes and gymnastics classes.”
Lin Yi's eyebrows twitched, and a light flashed in his eyes.
“You motherfucker… if you had said that earlier, I wouldn't be sleepy!”
Wei Liang poked his waist and smiled: “What, your kidneys aren't weak anymore?”
“When have my kidneys ever been weak? How dare you spread such rumors?” Lin Yi widened his eyes, feeling angry, and pretended to give Wei Liang a head chop.
Wei Liang quickly hugged his head and said: “You couldn't even stand still just now, isn't that kidney deficiency?”
Lin Yi was speechless and said: “That's because I saw the homeroom teacher! Didn't you see the homeroom teacher's eyes?”
“Those are cosmetic contact lenses.” Wei Liang blurted out, frantically paralyzing himself with a mental victory method.
Lin Yi was stunned for a moment, but immediately understood Wei Liang's meaning. In order to prevent Wei Liang from thinking about the problem, he quickly ended the topic.
He still decided to give the pressure to himself and preserve a piece of pure land for Wei Liang.
But Wei Liang seemed to have thought of something and muttered: “I thought you were going to say that you were unsteady because you saw those ripped stockings! Speaking of which, I don't know if you noticed, but her foot seemed to be sprained…”
