Sherlock Holmes at Hogwarts

#101 - Can it be the same?

In Ron's view, the reason his good brother didn't want Quirrell to come back was simply that he wanted to learn more from the old bat—even if it meant losing points and getting scolded for it.

This was not a good sign.

After all, he had heard his parents chatting about how being abused could be addictive…

However, Ron didn't overthink it and just made a couple of jokes before forgetting about it.

Instead, Hermione gradually noticed something was wrong.

One afternoon, in the library.

“I say—you guys—”

Hermione's eyes moved rapidly across the textbook, realizing she couldn't focus, and finally couldn't help but voice her doubts:

“Why have you been constantly looking at Potions books lately?”

With the exams approaching, everyone was studying hard.

As an obscure and difficult subject that required combining theory and practice, Potions was already a challenge.

So, it wasn't strange for young wizards to spend time and focus on conquering this course.

The problem was that Sherlock and Harry weren't bad at Potions.

Although the two of them routinely had points deducted by Snape in Potions class, it was all Snape picking on them and making trouble.

If a Slytherin student had this level, their scores would have soared long ago.

In Hermione's view, Sherlock should be looking at Jupiter's astronomical charts and remembering the names of Jupiter's moons.

And figure out that the satellites should be orbiting the planet and not the other way around.

Harry, on the other hand, should be trying to memorize the History of Magic, carefully remembering which quirky old wizards invented the automatic stirring cauldron.

Or study Defense Against the Dark Arts more!

Professor Quirrell had limited skills, so the students could only rely on themselves.

No, as Voldemort's henchman, teaching students was just a side job.

That's why they should overcome difficulties and work harder.

But what did constantly focusing on Potions mean?

Hermione waited for a long time without anyone answering, looked up, and was immediately annoyed.

Sherlock and Harry were both buried in their work, completely ignoring her.

Considering this was a library, making loud noises would get them kicked out by Madam Pince, the librarian, waving her feather duster.

So, Hermione, while keeping her voice as low as possible, loudly said to the two:

“You two! Are you even listening to me?”

Sherlock still didn't react.

He had done this sort of thing countless times, immersing himself in his own world and ignoring changes in the external environment.

When he first started school, Hermione had to wake him up every time he left the library.

As for Harry, he was purely pretending.

Because he didn't know how to answer.

“Humph!”

Seeing the two like this, Hermione immediately snatched the book Sherlock was reading.

“Libatius Borage's Advanced Potion-Making? This is N.E.W.T. level exam material!”

Her eyes suddenly narrowed, and she simply grabbed what Harry was reading as well.

“Practical Potions Master?”

After seeing the name of this magazine, Hermione was directly amused:

“Do you think Professor Snape is teaching for Quirrell, so you want to take over his Potions teaching job?

Too bad, Quirrell is back!”

“Hermione, don't be like this—”

Harry said helplessly, wanting to snatch the magazine back from Hermione's hand.

“I don't care, you have to explain it to me clearly today!”

Hermione didn't give Harry a chance, took the book far away, and continued to say in a low voice:

“I've felt that you two have been acting strange for a while—ever since the Easter holiday, you've been so secretive, you must be hiding something from me!”

Harry said unhappily, “Aren't you the same? You didn't invite me to solve the case with Sherlock during Easter!”

“Is that the same?”

Faced with Hermione in an unreasonable state, Harry had no choice.

He could only turn his pleading eyes to his big brother.

Hermione was the same.

She knew very well that Sherlock was the one who made the decisions.

Although Harry Potter was the savior of the magical world, Sherlock was the lion of Gryffindor.

Sherlock didn't disappoint her and scared her with his first words:

“We are looking for ways to deal with trolls, and using potions is just one of them.

“Sherlock, do you really have to say—”

Harry had just opened his mouth when Hermione glared back at him, silencing him.

He immediately turned his head away, pretending to look at the scenery.

But he immediately realized, what the hell, he wasn't Ron, he didn't need Hermione to check his homework, why should he be afraid of her!

At this time, Hermione had already stood up, “Let's talk somewhere else.”

A quarter of an hour later, Sherlock, Hermione, and Harry were in a corner of the Gryffindor common room, officially discussing Voldemort, Quirrell, and the Philosopher's Stone.

Today was the weekend, and there were even fewer people in the common room than in the library.

“So, you actually fought Quirrell in the Forbidden Forest?”

Hermione's eyes widened, and she covered her mouth with her hand.

Harry emphasized: “Sherlock fought him, I just fired a firework.”

Every time he heard others say that he and Sherlock fought Quirrell, Harry always had a feeling of "I combined with Chamberlain to score 102 points."

“That's not important!”

Hermione waved her hand, stopping Harry from continuing to explain, “The important thing is—you actually kept this a secret from me!”

Looking at Hermione's aggrieved look, Harry didn't know what to do.

After all, it was true that they had hidden the truth from their friend.

Even if the purpose was to prevent their friend from worrying.

However, Sherlock said he wouldn't take the blame.

“Dear Hermione, if you remember the last time I spoke to you, you'll understand that you shouldn't blame us like this.”

“Huh?” Hermione was stunned, “Last time? Which time?”

“I once said that Quirrell would be back to teach us soon.”

“That was—”

Hermione suddenly remembered that before Easter, she had asked Sherlock why he thought Quirrell would be back soon.

As a result, Sherlock said it was because he had stabbed Quirrell with a sword.

“You weren't joking!”

Sherlock sighed, “I said, in most cases, I don't lie.”

Hermione's face turned red, and her voice became smaller:

“I, I didn't expect—”

Seeing this, Harry couldn't help but give Sherlock a thumbs up in his heart.

Sure enough, only Sherlock could control Hermione.

“It doesn't matter, I didn't expect you to believe me anyway.”

Hermione: (一一)

As soon as Sherlock said this, Hermione immediately stopped feeling guilty.

“Okay, so what are you going to do now? Tell Headmaster Dumbledore?”

“Dumbledore? He already knows and let Harry face Voldemort again.”

“Impossible, absolutely impossible!”

Hermione immediately gasped, “Harry is just a first-year wizard, letting him face Voldemort, wouldn't that be, wouldn't that be—”

She hesitated for a long time, but ultimately didn't say the words "court death."

“Don't worry, Hermione, this is Dumbledore's guarantee!”

Noticing Hermione's eyes, Harry smiled and pointed to the scar on his forehead.

“I was lucky enough to escape once before, remember?

Maybe I can turn bad luck into good luck this time, and there's Sherlock.”

“No!”

Hermione shook her head repeatedly, “That's Voldemort! The most powerful dark wizard! How can he let you two face him directly?”

“Stay calm, my friend,” Sherlock said to Hermione when he saw her like this, “Impulsiveness will make you lose your mind.”

“If I wasn't calm enough, I would have run to find———. That's right!”

Speaking of this, Hermione suddenly reacted, “I'm going to find the headmaster now!”

After saying this, she disappeared without waiting for Sherlock and Harry to reply.

“Sherlock, Hermione she—”

“She won't see Dumbledore,” Sherlock shook his head, “Let's continue reading.”

Anyway, the book has already been borrowed, there is no difference between reading in the library or the common room.

About half an hour later, Hermione came back, only to be told that Dumbledore was not at school.

This matter could only be given up.

However, Hermione didn't intend to give up.

For the next few days, she ran to find Dumbledore whenever she had time.

However, Dumbledore was either in a meeting or on a research trip, and she couldn't see him at all.

Even if she wasn't the top student among the freshmen, the representative of the top students, it wouldn't be easy to see McGonagall, the deputy headmaster, every time.

When Hermione once again told McGonagall that she wanted to find Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall finally asked:

“Miss Granger, you need to know that Professor Dumbledore is a very great wizard.

He is busy with everything and his time is precious, many things need to be arranged and deployed personally, so what do you have to tell him in person?”

Hermione was speechless.

She wasn't sure if she should tell McGonagall about the agreement between Dumbledore and Sherlock and Harry.

Looking at Hermione's hesitant look, Professor McGonagall sighed:

“Miss Granger, although you are very close to Holmes and Potter, I understand in my heart that you are different from them.”

Hermione raised her head in surprise.

“I admit that Holmes and Potter are both excellent, especially Mr. Holmes, who has amazing keen observation.”

Speaking of this, Professor McGonagall's face was a little unsightly.

The events of Halloween, Christmas, and Easter demonstrated Holmes's talent, and gradually made her realize one thing.

In the first Transfiguration class, this little guy was likely to have seen through her disguise long ago!

In this case, he even picked her up and rubbed her all over.

This was a bit too much!

But now that things have long passed, it is already too late for her to punish him—and she has no evidence.

Professor McGonagall is not Snape after all, and would not do anything deliberately retaliatory.

Thinking of this, she earnestly said to Hermione:

“You are a diligent, inquisitive, law-abiding, and hardworking good child, a true Gryffindor. With the final exams approaching, you must focus on your studies and don't waste your time on those meaningless things.”

Hermione ((--)

Of course, academics are the most important thing. Hermione hugged her books and nodded—but she still had to go to the library to check troll information today.
