Sherlock Holmes at Hogwarts
#22 - Speech at the Hogwarts Opening Ceremony
Just as Sherlock had predicted, the Sorting Hat placed on Harry's head ultimately shouted out Gryffindor.
The entire process took nearly five minutes, only slightly shorter than Sherlock's.
At that moment, the nearby Gryffindor students stared at Sherlock in astonishment.
Was he really that amazing?
Not only had he guessed the outcome, but he hadn't missed a single detail of the process?
This new student should have gone to Ravenclaw, shouldn't he?
"You really called it!"
Hermione was amazed by Sherlock once again, but her voice was quickly drowned out by thunderous applause and cheers.
Without a doubt, Harry received the loudest cheers and applause of the entire hall.
The Gryffindors welcomed Harry far more enthusiastically than they had Sherlock.
It could be said that the entire house erupted the moment the Sorting Hat announced Gryffindor.
As Harry walked towards the Gryffindor table, Percy, the prefect, stood up and shook Harry's hand tightly, unwilling to let go for a long time—long enough that if Harry had been a girl, this behavior would have been considered harassment.
The Weasley twins even shouted at the top of their lungs:
"We've got Potter! We've got Potter!"
At this moment, Harry was undoubtedly the protagonist.
However, his gaze was fixed on Sherlock.
A feeling of "From now on, I have someone to rely on" arose spontaneously, and without a word, he sat down right next to Sherlock.
Compared to the sensation Harry caused upon his entrance, the sorting of those after him seemed quite ordinary.
When only the last two remained, Ron was indeed sorted into Gryffindor along with his brothers—the sorting time was comparable to Malfoy's.
Another student named Zabini was sorted into Slytherin.
The Sorting Ceremony officially came to an end.
Looking at the final results, they completely matched Sherlock's previous predictions.
Approximately half of the students were sorted into Hufflepuff, and the remaining three houses combined barely equaled that number.
Indeed, only Hufflepuff was the backbone of the wizarding world.
The other three houses all had their flaws to some extent—anyway, Sherlock never considered himself a normal person.
After Professor McGonagall rolled up the parchment with the names of the new students, picked up the Sorting Hat, and left, Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts, stood up.
He looked exactly like the picture Harry had once eaten in a Chocolate Frog card, an elderly man wearing glasses.
His blue eyes were bright and piercing, his crooked long nose looked like it had been broken more than once, and his silver hair and beard showed that he was quite old.
As for the constantly twinkling half-moon spectacles, they seemed to be able to see right through people.
"Welcome!"
At this moment, he looked at the students with a smile, extending his arms as if to embrace everyone.
"Welcome everyone to Hogwarts for the start of a new school year!
Before the feast begins, I would like to say a few words."

At this moment, all the new students couldn't help but recall the fear of being dominated by the principal's lengthy speeches in elementary school.
However, what the headmaster did next greatly exceeded their expectations.
He slowly opened his mouth and said:
"Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!
Thank you!"
After saying that, he sat down.
The speech at the Hogwarts opening ceremony lasted less than five seconds, emphasizing brevity and speed.
Although they didn't know what Dumbledore meant, it felt like it was very impressive.
Everyone applauded and cheered, not caring what he meant at all.
As long as you don't give a long speech, we're all good friends.
Most importantly, everyone was already starving, and after Dumbledore finished speaking, all sorts of food suddenly appeared on the previously empty plates in front of everyone.
Roast beef, roast chicken, French fries, ketchup, peppermint candies...
It could be said that there was everything from staple foods to snacks.
The returning students had long been accustomed to it, but the first-year students were frightened by this scene.
Me and my little friends were stunned.JPG
Without needing to be reminded, everyone began to feast.
"Sherlock, do you think he's—a little crazy?"
Harry asked Sherlock hesitantly.
"Crazy?"
Percy couldn't help but mutter when he heard Harry's words:
"He's a genius! The greatest wizard in the world!
But you're right, he is a little crazy.
Let's eat first... would you like some potatoes, Harry?"
Harry took the potatoes and looked at Sherlock again.
He saw the latter frowning, as if he were thinking.
Sherlock was indeed thinking.
Regarding Dumbledore's seemingly meaningless speech, he had already come up with several explanations in an instant.
First, it expressed a stereotype of the four houses: Hufflepuffs are all nitwits, Ravenclaw bookworms only blubber when things happen, Slytherins are all dregs, and Gryffindors are brave and stubborn.
Second, it could also be the opposite extreme of the houses' representative characteristics: Ravenclaw—intelligence—nitwit, Gryffindor—courage—blubber, Slytherin—cunning ambition—dregs, Hufflepuff—honest and kind—tweak.
Finally, it could also be these four houses' views of others: Ravenclaw thinks everyone else is a nitwit; Gryffindor thinks other students are blubbering cowards; Slytherin is arrogant about pure blood and thinks others are dregs and wastes; Hufflepuff thinks other houses are too individualistic and tweaked.
But it doesn't matter.
He had already come to Hogwarts, and figuring these things out was only a matter of time.
After a busy day, the new students were already starving.
To be fair, the food and drink prepared for the new students at the Hogwarts opening ceremony was indeed good.
It could already be called delicious—after all, this was a country known for its dark cuisine.
Sherlock wasn't picky about food and drink, but he would eat more when the taste was good.
Harry didn't need to be told.
Although the Dursleys hadn't let him starve, they had never let him eat his fill.
So he ate everything on the table.
When everyone was finished eating, the plates became spotless on their own, without any manual cleaning required.
This situation once again amazed the new students.
Seeing that everyone was full and satisfied, Dumbledore stood up for the second time.
Compared to before, this time his speech seemed much more serious.
The autumn is crisp, the weather is turning cold, and another school season has arrived in the blink of an eye.
In the new year, I hope that everyone can continue to work hard, constantly improve their ideological understanding, diligently study magic theory, continuously strengthen practical training, and achieve excellent results at the end of the semester.
Upperclassmen should strictly demand themselves, take the lead in abiding by school rules and regulations, and set an example for the newly enrolled first-year students.
New students should also follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, strive forward, be brave and determined, and work together to build Hogwarts into a first-class magic school in Europe and even the world.
Finally, on behalf of the school, I would like to put forward the following requirements for the new students:
First, earnestly abide by school rules and regulations, do not cast spells in the corridors between classes, and do not go to the Forbidden Forest or the corridor on the right side of the fourth floor;
Second, actively participate in school activities, actively apply for Quidditch player review, and add glory to the college's sports cause;
Third, strive to improve the sense of collective honor, and now the principal will personally conduct and lead everyone to sing the school song.
The first two points were fine, but when Dumbledore mentioned singing the school song together, Sherlock noticed that the smiles of the other teachers suddenly stiffened.
Something's fishy!
