Sherlock Holmes at Hogwarts

#51 - Snape: My rules are the rules.

“Enough! Put away your cheap tricks that you use to deceive people in the Muggle world!”

Upon hearing Sherlock's deduction, Snape immediately shifted his piercing gaze from Harry to Sherlock.

“Holmes, who do you think you are?

Guessing what happened here after just a few glances, do you really think you're some famous detective from a novel?”

“It's 'deduction,' not 'guessing.'”

Snape's icy aura had no effect on Sherlock, who even corrected Snape's wording, “Actually, I can indeed offer some assistance with this case…”

“Shut up! I don't have time for your pointless analysis, Holmes. What I want to tell you is…”

Snape sneered, “Gryffindor will be deducted twenty points because of this.”

Despite the Gryffindor Head of House being present, Snape made this decision without hesitation.

As soon as he said this, the expressions on the faces of the three, except for Sherlock, immediately turned sour.

Especially Hermione.

After all, this matter started because of her.

As for Professor McGonagall, she was indifferent to Snape's point deduction, as if she had already accepted Snape's actions.

However, in the next moment, she suddenly said something that surprised everyone:

“Mr. Holmes, can you share your thoughts?”

“Professor McGonagall!”

Snape turned to her abruptly, “Are you sure you want to listen to a little… first-year student pontificate? I think it would be better to give him detention for a while…”

“Thank you, Professor Snape, I know very well what I'm doing,” Professor McGonagall looked at Snape calmly, “Mr. Holmes is a student in my House, and I am willing and have a responsibility to listen to his opinion.”

After saying this, she turned to Sherlock again, “Mr. Holmes, you may begin.”

“This is a premeditated case.”

Under the intense scrutiny of the three professors and three classmates, Sherlock didn't waste any time and went straight to the point:

“The one who left this blood message is a man, less than six feet tall, middle-aged, and right-handed.

He is agile, cunning, but currently troubled. Doing this was not his original intention but was at the behest of another person.

In addition, he should be using a wand of about nine inches…”

“Enough!”

Sherlock spoke faster and faster, and the expressions on the faces of the audience grew more and more surprised as they listened to his eloquent words.

Finally, an abrupt voice interrupted his statement, “That's enough!”

Snape looked at Sherlock coldly, speaking with undisguised contempt and disgust:

“Oh, the great detective Holmes?

I already said, put away your boring tricks!

Maybe you can rely on it in the Muggle world, but in the magical world…”

Snape's eyes suddenly became deep, “I advise you to be careful!”

After saying this, he paused, and then said as if he suddenly remembered something, “Gryffindor, deduct ten points as punishment for your nonsense in front of a professor.”

Upon hearing Snape's words, Harry, Hermione, and Ron were immediately shocked.

If the previous point deduction was a punishment for running around, then this was simply an act of rage.

It's you who's talking nonsense!

This is clearly a rule you made up on the spot!

However, the other party was a professor after all, and even if they were indignant in their hearts, the three dared not express it.

Otherwise, they would definitely be met with even harsher point deductions.

After all, Snape had always been so unreasonable.

So the three of them invariably turned their attention to Professor McGonagall.

Faced with this point deduction reason that was obviously made up on the spot, McGonagall, known for her justice and fairness, should not be able to stand it and speak up, right?

What's more, she's still the Head of Gryffindor.

Unexpectedly, McGonagall looked at Sherlock and said, word by word:

“I am very disappointed in you.”

As soon as these words were spoken, the hearts of the three of Harry instantly fell to the bottom.

How could this be?

It seems… this time Sherlock's performance made Professor McGonagall too dissatisfied.

That's right.

After all, although Sherlock pretended to be very confident, those details sounded too unbelievable.

Even they, who had seen Sherlock's abilities many times, still found it hard to believe.

Not to mention McGonagall, who doesn't know Sherlock very well?

But, no matter what, deducting points just because of this is too much, right?

Unexpectedly, Professor Quirrell, who looked so weak, suddenly said weakly:

“Professor, there is no such rule for deducting points…”

The three suddenly lit up and looked at Quirrell with gratitude.

At this moment, even the smell of garlic on his body didn't seem so pungent anymore.

But in the next moment, Snape ruthlessly retorted:

“My rule is the rule!”

Quirrell: Σ(`д′*ノ)ノ

That's not all, after saying this, Snape looked at Quirrell coldly and continued to output:

“Also, what you should be doing now is getting back as soon as possible.”

Quirrell: o((⊙﹏⊙))o.

Seeing that even a professor had succumbed to Snape's power, how dare Harry and the others act presumptuously?

Only Sherlock remained unmoved, but instead showed a thoughtful expression.

McGonagall pretended not to see this scene and said to Sherlock and the other three:

“If you are not injured, you should go back to Gryffindor Tower as soon as possible—the students are enjoying the Halloween feast in their respective Houses.”

“Outrageous! Absolutely outrageous!”

On the way back to Gryffindor Tower, Ron was almost driven mad.

“Snape is too much! What kind of reason is that?

I bet you, he definitely made it up on the spot!”

Harry and Hermione nodded repeatedly.

After the troll incident, the barrier between Harry and Ron and Hermione had been eliminated.

At this time, facing Snape, a common “enemy,” the three reached a united front and accused him in unison.

Even Hermione, who always respected professors, was no exception.

But to the surprise of the three, Sherlock said at this time: “Actually, Professor Snape is a good person.”

“Huh?”

The three turned their heads together and looked at Sherlock with shocked eyes.

He said seriously: “To be precise, Professor Snape is a despicable but kind person.”

“……”

“???”

“Sherlock, how did you put these two words together?”

Hermione stared at Sherlock with wide eyes, expressing her incomprehension.

“The part of speech of these two words are not opposite, why can't they be put together?”

Faced with Sherlock's question, Hermione was stunned.

Indeed… kindness and despicableness are indeed not antonyms.

But… putting them together, whether it's reading them or listening to them, feels weird, okay?

Ron also reluctantly asked Sherlock why he didn't bring him and Harry when he went to find Hermione.

Then Sherlock told him that he was worried that they would delay the time to save people.

Ron looked bitter: “You are really honest…”

“I said, in most cases I won't lie, unless necessary.”

“I really thank you for your honesty!”

In this way, the few people talked and chatted, and finally came to the portrait of the Fat Lady.
