This love is only a memory
Chapter 1
No questions allowed.
To live in peace with the Dursleys was number one of the rules.
God knew how much he, Harry, James Potter's son, hated the Dursleys' rules. However, at this moment, he suddenly felt that the rules of the Dursleys' house were not so useless, at least, it was necessary to write the rule of not being allowed to ask questions into his own rules.
The reason why Harry had such out-of-the-ordinary thoughts was all because of the embarrassing situation at hand.
Just now, while eating breakfast, his youngest daughter Lily asked him the most common question——
"Who is your favorite person?"
The question was so commonplace that Harry answered without thinking, "Of course James, Albus and you."
In the past, the three children in the family would always laugh at the same answer, but this time, none of the three children laughed. Not only did they not smile, the expressions of the three children could be called serious.
"What's up, kids?" Harry wondered.
The eldest James poked the bacon on the dinner plate absently with a fork: "Dad, there can only be one favorite person!"
"so?"
"So Dad can't love James the most, me the most, and Lily the most, that doesn't make sense," Albus added.
"Who told you that there can only be one favorite person?" Ginny joined the conversation at the dinner table with a plate of delicious sausages.
"Teddy said it!"
Ginny set aside two sausages for her convinced daughter: "That's Teddy joking with you!"
"Really?" Lily and Albus looked shaken.
"Of course!" Harry said hastily, this was the first time, and he felt that Ginny's words made a lot of sense.
Ginny gave Harry a big smile back.
Harry lowered his head unnaturally, and began to gnaw on the bacon on his dinner plate.
It wasn't until the bacon was gone that Harry finally looked up from the plate. He wanted to get himself a sausage, but noticed that James was staring blankly at the plate full of food.
"Is something wrong? James!"
James frowned: "Dad, I think Teddy is right. People can love many people, but there can only be one favorite. Otherwise, what's the use of the word 'most'?"
Harry wanted to slap himself twice when he heard James return to the subject. He looked at Ginny begging for help, but Ginny turned her head angrily.
Just as Harry was wondering how to get James to let go of the problem, the doorbell rang.
Harry jumped up from the dining chair as if he was pardoned by the Lord: "I'll go and open the door!"
Just when Harry was about to escape from the restaurant, Ginny stopped him with an apparition: "Let me go! James is still waiting for your answer!"
She definitely did it on purpose!
Harry sat back at the table unwillingly.
James was staring at him with burning eyes, and Albus and Lily, who had been swayed by Ginny's persuasion, were also looking at him with bright eyes.
The eager eyes of the children made Harry feel unexplainably nervous.
He cleared his throat and said with a sigh of relief: "The person Dad loves the most is your grandmother."
"Dude, this is so ridiculous!"
Harry shot Ron a hard look behind Ginny, though he was pretty sure Ron didn't mean it.
"Uncle! Aunt! Rose! Hugo!"
Harry let out a breath as the three children's attention was drawn to the visitors.
"You look like a survivor."
Harry smiled wryly at Hermione who sat next to him: "I wish James, Albus and Lily could be as obedient as Rose and Hugo."
"Are you crazy?" Ron dragged a chair and squeezed between Harry and Hermione, "Rose and Hugo?! Obedient?! That's why you didn't get upset by them, God knows how they came up with those things The problem, is there too little homework in Hogwarts today?!"
All five children giggled.
"What questions did they ask?" Harry asked curiously, forgetting once again the old adage that curiosity killed the cat.
In the later years, Harry regretted countless times. If he hadn't asked such a stupid question that day, if he would have had more happiness and fewer regrets.
Who knows!
Thinking had never been his forte, anyway, he had Hermione, and he was so used to Hermione's help that he forgot that it wasn't always possible to ask Hermione for help, such as that day.
