Vlad storms into Roman's office. "You are not serious!"
When the boss raised his head from the computer and looked at him with disapproving eyes, Vlad realized how reckless his actions were just now.
"What did you say?" Roman said.
Vlad forced himself to meet Roman's gaze with confidence. "I'm sorry, Roman Danilovich, but I don't agree with you taking that kid with you to Switzerland. It's too much of a security risk—he might be recognized at the airport or—"
"We will be using my private airport, do I need to remind you about this?" Roman said. "Who has the guts to investigate? And you are the one who checks the whole process."
"You're right," said Vlad, swallowing the retort.
Roman's eyes became sharper, almost seeing through him. "If you have something to say, say it quickly."
Vlad hesitated for a moment, not sure how to bring up the next topic with the other party. "You're fucking that Whitford boy."
There was no trace of surprise or shame in Roman's gray-blue eyes, and his expression was always impeccable. "That's right," he said. "What do you want to say?"
Vlad suddenly felt uncomfortable. He had never been so uncomfortable around Roman before. "I didn't even know that you... like men."
"I didn't even know I needed to tell you about my sex life, Vlad." Roman said pleasantly, but his eyes were not kind at all.
Vlad swallowed hard and took a step back. "Of course not—"
"But let me make it clear to you: I don't like men."
Vlad frowned. "But—but what about that kid?"
Roman lit a cigarette, leaned back in his chair, and looked at him coldly. "Without this year, the Whitford Group will be in my hands. Everything I did with Luke Whitford was for that purpose. That's all I have to say about it. Much. Got it?"
"Got it," Vlad said, almost laughing in relief. He actually questioned Roman for a moment, that was too silly. How could Roman be fascinated by that kid? It's ridiculous just thinking about it, isn't it?Roman is not gay.
However, he still couldn't figure out why he had to take the kid with him to Switzerland.
"Where are we going to keep him?" Vlad asked. "You'll live with Anastasia and—"
"He'll live in my lake house."
Vlad paled. "You're not serious! In case your—"
"He lives in my house," Roman repeated, in a tone that could not be contradicted.
"Got it," said Vlad reluctantly. "But I still want to tell you that I don't think it's right to do this. Whether it's for safety or other reasons."
"I wrote it down," Roman said, looking back at the computer.
Vlad thought that the boss was ordering to evict the guests, so he turned around and prepared to leave.
"Vladislav."
He stopped, looked back at Roman, and couldn't help shrinking the moment he met his gaze.
Roman said softly: "If you dare to spy on me again, I may forget your allegiance to me in the past 15 years. There is no one who cannot be replaced, and you are no exception.
Vlad nodded slightly and left the room as quickly as possible.
When walking in the corridor, he couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling in his stomach.Maybe Roman wasn't fascinated by that brat, but when it came to that kid, he was really something wrong with his grandma. It could even be said that Roman's trust in Vlad plummeted from the moment the little Englishman moved into the house.
It's all Luke Whitford's fault.
