The Lost Mermaid [Zhongyingmei]
Chapter 10
The next day, when Carl Hockley came to the hotel again, he found that the place was empty.
"Master, we..."
"Damn it!" Hockley wanted to kick something to vent the anger in his heart, but felt that it was too shameful and ridiculous for him to be so sentimental.
He tried his best to restrain the evil beast in his heart that was struggling to break out of the cage, turned around and got into the car, and slammed the car door hard. The car window groaned tremblingly, showing the uncertainty in the owner's heart.
Repeated bumps into walls shattered his 30-year pride, and he had never been so passive even in front of his strong and ruthless father. He may be able to resist money restraint and personal monitoring, but his feelings are locked in a cage by himself, so that he can't help but come to try again and again.
Fortunately, only he knew about such passivity.
There were only three things, and Hockley was about to retire.
Doris and 1900 moved to the quiet countryside, and life gradually got on the right track.
In 1900, he still went to school to visit friends every day, and sometimes went to the workers' bar to play the piano. The workers don't know anything about "jazz", they only know that the wonderful music of this pianist from the United States is very popular.
Under the recuperation of the lake water, Doris slowly regained her energy. She didn't tell 1900 about the dream. After all, she didn't know whether it was a prophetic dream, or just because she just met Ruth, and she thought about it day and night?
Doris also didn't want such unreasonable troubles to disturb her brother's mind.
Time soon came to the end of February, Doris felt much better, and the "battle" for the ownership of the Heart of the Ocean was put on the agenda. In the evening, she was lying on the table under the setting sun to write an invitation, inviting Lu When Si came to the manor as a guest, she received an invitation letter from the front room.
"Ruth actually invited me to participate in the art exhibition!" Doris happily steered the wheelchair to the piano room to find 1900, but there was a letter in the maid's hand.Seeing her puzzled look, the maid explained, "This is a letter from Mr. Patrick Crawley to Mr. Boardman."
Doris took the envelope and saw that the signed address was "Downton Abbey".
This was an unfamiliar place name, and Doris didn't think much about it.
Before reaching the piano room, there was a faint burst of cheerful and free music. At the end of the song, Doris opened the door of the piano room.
"Danny! Ruth invited me to participate in the art exhibition!" Doris smiled and said briskly, "Have you heard of the painter 'Picasso'?" 1900 closed his eyes, as if he was still immersed in the music.
After a while, he came back to his senses: "No." He stood up from the piano, walked up to Doris, bent over and took the envelope she handed out, "Is this my letter?"
Doris nodded.
1900 unfolded the letter, walked to the window, and took advantage of the afterglow of the setting sun to look at ten lines at a glance.
"Two things." 1900 walked towards Doris while folding the letter paper, "The first thing is that Mr. Crowley just happened to invite me to participate in the art exhibition, so we can go together."
Doris' eyes suddenly widened, and the blue pupils were rippling.
"The second thing." 1900's tone paused, and he said strangely, "He also invited us to 'Downton Abbey' at the end of March to attend the spring ball."
The word "prom" froze Doris' smile.
Doris is not ready yet, dancing on the tip of the knife.
The exhibition is scheduled for February 2th every four years.Doris and 29 arrived by car as promised.
The location of the art exhibition was set at a small private art gallery on the edge of London. As usual, the girl in the wheelchair was pointed and pointed softly by outsiders behind her.Doris pretended not to hear, but felt wronged in her heart.
She has always been used to such prejudice, and rarely takes it to heart. But now, Doris doesn't know what's wrong with her, her emotions have become sensitive, and she cares more about how she is evaluated.
Crowley stood in front of the art museum, saw 1900, walked towards him and greeted him with a big smile. "Long time no see! I thought you guys wouldn't come. After all, this is not an exhibition of famous artists. Even my fiancé... ahem, not all of my friends are interested."
"Doris also received an invitation from her friend. We don't know how to paint, so we hope not to spoil the fun." 1900 shook hands with him, pushed Doris' wheelchair, and walked into the venue slowly.
"Oh? Miss Boardman's friend?" The young man—Patrick Crowley looked at Doris. "Who is your friend? Maybe I know one too."
"You do, Mr. Crawley."
A deep and magnetic male voice sounded from behind the three of them, and Doris's back became numb for an instant.
"Mr. Hockley!" Crowley turned around and shook hands with him with a smile on his face. When he saw the person beside him, his expression changed slightly, "Oh! Miss Bucket, you're here too!"
Doris manipulated the wheelchair and turned around, only to see Ruth wearing a slim light yellow dress with a good figure, with her arm on the man beside her, showing a stiff and forced smile at her.
'They look like a perfect match. '
Doris lowered her eyes.
