Chapter 30 Screaming Shack

Lupine didn't show up for Defense Against the Dark Arts class on Friday and was replaced by Professor Snape.

"Turn to page 390." Snape said in his ever-changing black robe.

"Where's Professor Lupine?" Catherine blurted out, but immediately regretted it, because Professor Snape's face turned darker after hearing this sentence.

"Professor Lupine is ill, and I will substitute for the next few days," Snape said.

"I'm sick again." Catherine lowered her head in disappointment, and opened four pages of 390. Professor Lupine would disappear for a few days every month, all because of illness. If I had known about Christmas presents, I would have given him some potions to replenish his body. .

"Sir, we haven't learned this yet," said Hermione. "We learned about Boggarts, Red Hat, now it's time for..."

"Boggart, red hat," Snape interrupted Hermione immediately, "do you still need to learn such a simple thing? Now turn to page 394, who can tell me how to distinguish a wolf from a werewolf?"

Hermione raised her hand, as always, and everyone else looked down, trying to find the answer in their textbooks.

"Is there no one?" Snape looked around, "It's so disappointing that no one can answer such a simple question. Didn't Lupine even tell you the basic difference between the two?"

"We haven't learned that chapter yet," Catherine regretted after she finished, because Snape gave her that cannibalistic look.

"You're so far behind," Snape said.

"Sir," said Hermione, "the difference between a werewolf and a wolf is..."

"I didn't ask you to answer the question." Snape interrupted her again. "Now, the lesson begins."

Catherine was absent-minded in this Defense Against the Dark Arts class. It is true that she also respects her headmaster very much and has always been outstanding in Potions class, but this does not prevent her from liking Professor Lupine. This Christmas, she also received a return gift from Lupine—a copy of "How to Protect Yourself as a Minor Wizard" and a note, asking her to be safe at school and not to be accidentally injured by dementors. If only my father could be like Professor Lupine, Catherine thought quietly holding the book. She was so distracted throughout the class that she didn't even hear the bell.

"A dissertation on werewolves? Two rolls of parchment?" Catherine whispered after class. "But I didn't hear anything."

"Believe me, Catherine, you won't be able to write even if you listen to it, because the professor didn't talk about it at all, he kept saying let us do our own research." Blaise said.

"I think we can turn it in later. Professor Snape obviously reserved this assignment for Gryffindors, and we are his students." Pansy said, "Besides, what are you worried about, your Defense Against the Dark Arts The grades have been pretty good, haven't they?"

"But I don't want to do my homework." Catherine was very distressed. Professor Lupine never left such boring homework.

"Stop discussing homework, okay? Let's talk about Hogsmeade again. Where are you going this time?" Daphne threw the book into her bag and put it on her shoulder.

"Scream Shack, I wanted to go last time, but I didn't have time," Catherine said.

"Screaming Shack? We're not going there! It's too dangerous." Daphne pulled Pansy and Millicon and shook their heads in disgust. "And the professors gave us repeated orders not to allow us to go there. You have to go there yourself."

"Ingratitude! You copy my homework every day, and you don't even go to the Shrieking Shack with me." Catherine gritted her teeth.

"It's two different things. There are ghosts in the Screaming Shack, and I can't put my life in it just because I copied your homework for a few days." Daphne said loudly, "Besides, you can ask Draco to accompany you. ’” Pansy pinched Daphne unhappily behind her back.

"I'll come with you, Cathy." Draco came over, who had always sat far back since Professor Lupine taught.

Pansy walked away without looking back, Blaise following her.

"It doesn't seem to be scary." Catherine tiptoed on the fence outside the Screaming Shack and looked inside desperately. "How about we sneak in and take a look?"

"Cathy, please calm down for a while." Draco said helplessly, "It's very dangerous inside, there may be giant spiders."

"No way..." Catherine continued to probe her head. "Let's just take a look, take a look," she begged.

"...Then take a look! We'll leave after watching at the door." Draco said with a serious and helpless expression.

"No problem!" Catherine smiled contentedly, and she drew out her wand. "Scavenger," she said, and the bars quickly split open a man's width.

"Let's go," said Catherine excitedly.

The Screaming Shack is a two-story wooden building with crooked doors and windows. It looks like a haunted house from a distance, but after walking in, I found that it is just an ordinary old building. It's just a house.

"I just said it's nothing to be afraid of." Catherine wanted to continue walking inside.

"You said to only look at the door." Draco grabbed her hood by the cloak and dragged her back.

"But but..." Catherine was a full head shorter than him, so she had no strength to resist now, "Can you let go first!"

"No." Draco said firmly, "Once I let you go, you will definitely run in."

"Draco Malfoy!" Catherine screamed loudly, and the sparrows that landed on the roof of the Shrieking Shack flew away in shock. "Let me go, you caught my hair!"

Only then did Draco let go of his hand, and found that there were a few long golden hairs on his hands, he rubbed his hands on his clothes in embarrassment, "It's not because you keep going inside, I'm... "His face suddenly became ugly, his lips turned white, "behind, behind you..." he said with trembling lips.

"Don't scare me, I won't be fooled again!" Catherine said nonchalantly, but turned her head reflexively, and then she froze.

A wolf standing up to the height of a person was staring at them, its eyes were not fully opened, and it looked like it had been woken up.

"Run!" Draco reacted, he grabbed Catherine who was still in a daze and ran frantically towards the fence just now, but it was too late, the big wolf easily jumped a few steps and ran in front of them.

"All petrified!" "Quickly imprison" and "Stand up and stop dead." Catherine and Draco threw a series of spells, but they were all easily dodged by the big wolf.

"What should I do?" Catherine asked, she wanted to cry a little bit, although she hated crybabys the most, but she really wanted to cry now, because Draco was involved because of her disobedience.

"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid." Draco stood in front of her, trembling all over. "I'm going to lure it away, you run quickly, understand?"

"No!" Catherine said immediately, "You run first!"

"Stop making trouble, Cathy, this is a werewolf, not a wolf, you go away." After finishing speaking, Draco threw a fire curse at the werewolf, and then jumped to his side provocatively, "Big monster, you don't mind at all!" Not scary, right!"

The werewolf's attention was diverted, and it moved quickly in Draco's direction.

"Big monster!" Draco shouted and ran in the opposite direction from Catherine with all his strength, but the werewolf's speed was too fast, he was no match at all, and within a few seconds, he was overturned by the werewolf on the ground On the ground, the one-man-tall werewolf pounced on top of his head, opening its mouth to show its sharp teeth, and its blood-red tongue was wet with saliva.

ExpectoPatcacodemon (return of the evil spirit, original spell, replace the "ronum" in patronum with cacodemon evil spirit)" Catherine shouted, pulling out her wand.

She originally wanted to say expectopatronum (calling on the gods and guards), but her speech was slurred due to nervousness, not to mention that she hadn't learned this spell at all. Just when she thought Draco was about to be killed by a werewolf, something strange happened. A black python with black smoke emerged from the tip of her wand and quickly wrapped itself around the werewolf. Draco seized the opportunity to crawl out from under its claws, and Catherine stumbled towards the fence again.

The black python didn't last long before disappearing, but the werewolf didn't chase after it. It stood there for a while as if remembering something, and then went back to the screaming hut.

Catherine and Draco ran like hell until the Shrieking Shack was completely out of sight.

"I'm sorry." Catherine said sobbingly, she couldn't hold it back this time, and cried aloud, the tears flowed down her chin and into her neck, cold and whizzing.

"Cathy, are you okay?" Draco didn't pay attention to what she said, he was busy checking her for injuries.

"I'm fine...I'm sorry..." Catherine continued to sob. "Are you hurt? I saw it knock you down."

Draco was relieved when he heard Catherine said that he was fine, and said, "Of course I'm fine, why are you crying? Don't be afraid, the werewolf ran away."

"It's my fault." Catherine sniffled and wiped away tears, "I shouldn't have gone to see the Shrieking Shack." She felt that she was ashamed today.

"Are you crying because of this?" Draco relaxed. "It's okay. It's not your fault." He took out his handkerchief and wiped the tears on Catherine's face, "Stop crying, your eyes will get swollen if you cry any more. Speaking of which, I haven't seen you cry yet, you are in the first grade I didn't cry when my cheekbones were smashed."

"I shouldn't have involved you." Catherine stopped crying and raised her head guiltily.

"I'm not afraid of being hurt by you, Cathy." Draco smiled gently. Catherine had never seen him so gentle, like the sun shining on the snow in winter. "If you still feel guilty, help me." I've written all my homework for this year's summer vacation."

...Draco's warmth was always short-lived.

"Let's go back, I want to go back." Catherine said, she was very guilty and felt like a disaster star, the first grade left Harry in the Forbidden Forest and ran away, the second grade threw the Dark Arts Diary to Ginny, This year, Draco almost died at the hands of a werewolf.

Draco took her hand, wiped the still wet corners of her eyes again, and said, "Okay, let's go."
