Chapter 19 Graduation Season

No one in my generation, Muggles or wizards, can ever forget 1946.In the Muggle world, the war ended and peace came; in our world, Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald, and the entire European continent was filled with joy.

In that joy, we are just approaching graduation time.

Every graduation season, the lawn of Hogwarts is filled with laughter mixed with sadness. Our carnival brings memories and reluctance to the past, and our vision of the future carries excitement and faint fear. This kind of beating hope and restless mood belongs to the radiant, youthful and beautiful era of 1946.

1946 was filled with the excitement of young hearts, countless hopes, and the joy of the coming peaceful age. That is the eternal memory of the youth of our generation.Leaving the familiar and friendly campus, a new, complex and unpredictable adult world is opening a mysterious prelude to us.That kind of mood is like sitting in a dark opera house, watching the heavy curtain on the stage slowly open with full of expectation and excitement.

Together with several other students who want to become therapists, I submitted the form to the dean of the college. If we pass the exam, then after getting the exam certificate and graduation certificate, we can smoothly enter St. Mungo's training to prepare junior therapists exam.

Only Tom looked solemn every day, became particularly indifferent and alienated, and disappeared more and more frequently.

I've developed a pretty accurate hunch about Tom's uncertainty.I know, things are not going well this time.

Tom did not submit an internship application form to the Ministry of Magic.I asked him why, but he ignored me and said coldly, "It's none of your business."

After the NEWTs, all the seventh graders were partying in the common room, as if they were going to have all the fun on this sunny end of June, our last day at the castle.I think I did well in the exam and should be able to meet the requirements of St. Mungo's.

One day, I saw Tom in the foyer and was about to run after him when Sylvia stopped me and said, "If I were you, I'd better stay away from him now. He's a bomb now, and if you don't want to die, you'd better stay away from him." Get away from him."

"What happened?"

"His job was lost," she said. "Dippet disagreed."

"He really wants to be a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher that much?" I said. "Has he submitted his application form to the Ministry of Magic?"

Sylvia shrugged: "Do you really think that Tom can display his talents in the Ministry of Magic like many teachers think? If he really goes to the Ministry of Magic, the forces of those big families, such as Malfoy and Randall, must be Will make him a plumber's clerk all his life."

"I'm going to ask him." I said, but Sylvia held me back with a sneer at the corner of her mouth: "Don't provoke him, let him stay alone."

But I didn't listen to her.I chased Tom out onto the sunny meadow and said, "Hey, are your suitcases packed yet?"

To my surprise, Tom gave me a calm grace. He looked at me, pointed to a big tree by the lake, and said to me, "Let's go and sit down."

This was the first time he spoke to me in more than two weeks, and he was so polite, I immediately followed him happily.

We sat under the big tree and watched a group of happy Gryffindor girls playing in the lake not far away, chasing each other and screaming.A gust of early summer wind was blowing and the leaves were rustling above us like waves of the ocean.

Tom stared intently ahead and didn't speak for five or six minutes. It was a hot day and none of us had robes on.I like Tom's appearance in a white shirt the most, simple and handsome, with a casual smile, as if carrying the warmth of the whole summer.

He continued to remain silent, his chiseled side face looked very gloomy, and the ominous premonition that had been brewing in my heart became stronger and stronger.

When his silence was driving me crazy, I started talking nonsense: "I'm going to St. Mungo's next week, we can rent an apartment in London. Carl and Chris are looking for a house in London , they found several very nice houses—"

Tom turned sideways suddenly, put his arm around my waist, and kissed me on the lips.He let go of me who was stupefied, took out a piece of paper from his pocket, and stuffed it in my hand.

"Elizabeth, let's break up." He said calmly, "After graduation, we will go on completely different paths. You will always be the best memory of my student life."

I blurted out: "Who the hell wants to remember your student life, I want to spend my whole life with you!"

Tom frowned slightly, and said, "Elizabeth—"

"I don't—I don't understand, I—" I said incoherently, grabbing his arm, "I don't care what you're doing. I can help you like Sylvia, I—"

"No," he said calmly, and cruelly shook off my hand, "you don't have to worry about my business."

He stood up, patted his robe and walked forward, then, as if he suddenly remembered something, he turned around and said to me: "You can pretend that I have never appeared in your life," he said. After a pause, the tall figure turned his back to the sun, and said lightly, "Graduated, live a good life alone."

I watched him leave without crying or making trouble, and my heart became a deep abyss without even an echo.

That night, graduates of the four faculties flooded the observatory for a rave party after graduation dinner. The professors also came to participate, ghosts wandered among the students, and even the bloody Baro had a smile on his face, saying goodbye to each student with blessings and hopes.

Sentimental Nearly Headless Nick floated among a group of Gryffindors, making exaggerated and comical sobs as outgoing Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Professor Mellors climbed onto a desk and knocked on the Knocking on the glass in his hand, he recited the toast he had prepared for a long time with a voice full of emotion that he never had in class:

"Farewell, my dearest graduates of 1946!

"Brave and enthusiastic Gryffindors, set out with your unchanging steadfast hearts, leave this strong castle that once protected you, and conquer this wild world!

"Loyal and kind Hufflepuffs, take your sincere souls on the road, leave this castle that once brought you close friends and mentors, and embark on the long road of your real life!

"Witty and smart Slytherins, go forward with your proud smiles, leave this castle that has given you inspiration and impulse day and night, and explore the vast ocean of the wizarding world!

"Smart and wise Ravenclaws, take your learned minds on the road, leave this ancient castle that brings you cold mornings and warm evenings, and rich knowledge, and go to the fascinating real world to seek The Future of Frontiers!

"All our Hogwarts graduates, the graduates of 1946 who make every professor proud and proud! We come from four old and great houses, and we are forever deeply in love with the same castle, the same Forbidden Forest , the same black lake!

"Let's have a toast tonight, and let's give everyone our deepest blessings. No matter whether the road ahead is smooth or bumpy, whenever we think of Hogwarts, we will always think of this youthful youth. Let us together Grow up, explore knowledge together, immerse yourself in unforgettable friendship, love, and the relationship between teachers and students...

"Let's toast tonight, and let's always remember the classmates, teachers, and ghosts of 1946!"

At the end of June night, the astronomy tower of Hogwarts Castle was brightly lit. Hundreds of candles hung in the dark sky, covering up the light of stars in the night sky. Cheers and applause covered up everything. The 17-year-old students raised their 1946-year-old smiling faces and raised their wine glasses. With smiles or tears, they screamed, laughed and hugged everyone around them. At this moment, everyone is hugging Hogwarts graduates in [-].

No matter how many years pass, I will never forget that graduation night.I can’t remember how many people I’ve toasted, hugged, screamed, filled with joy.

Joy and hope will always be the most precious treasures left to me by Hogwarts, and they will remain forever in my heart.

Me and Carl, Chris, and even Ida who haven't spoken in a year hug and toast, I am surrounded by a group of carnival students, several boys are being carried on the shoulders, champagne, butterbeer and mead are sprinkled on On everyone's school robes.Professor Dippet's band of wizards was playing music by the battlements when they sang a song called The Sound of Silence, about graduation and nostalgia. 【twenty three】

Hellodarkness, my old friend

hello dark my old buddy

I've come to talk with you again

I'm here to chat with you again

Because of vision softly creeping

Because a shadow sneaks in

LeftitsseedswhileIwassleeping

Planted its seeds while I was asleep

And the vision that was planted in my brain

This shadow is rooted in my brain

Still remain

still in

within the sound of silence

In the realm of the sound of silence

Ravenclaw's ghost, Lady Gray, aka Helena Ravenclaw, sits on the battlements, looking at the dark blue sky and Hogwarts Castle at night. At this time, many people began to dance to the music, I walked away from the crowd, walked to her, and looked not far away, Tom Riddle was holding a glass with a large group of Slytherin students.

Many years later, when I think of the scenes of that year and that month, I always feel that it is not real.Perhaps, Hogwarts is the only place that gave Tom the enthusiasm and hope that his youth and young people should have.I know he has had the deepest affection for the castle all his life.

Helena Ravenclaw floated wobbly beside me, her beautiful face looking melancholy at the dark silhouette of the Forbidden Forest in the distance.

"School season is always sad and beautiful," she said, "every year."

I thanked her and looked at the students who gradually became quiet and danced to the music with her.

InrestlessdreamsIwalkedalone

In restless dreams I wander alone

Narrow streets of cobblestone

narrow cobblestone street

Neath the haloo fast street lamp

in the halo of a street lamp

Iturned mycollartothecoldanddamp

I turned up my collar against the cold and damp

When my eyes were stabbed by the flashofaneonlight

while my eyes were pierced by the flash of a neon light

That split the night

The light pierces the night sky

And touched the sound of silence

touched the sound of silence

"But you're not sad because of graduation, are you?" She tilted her head towards me and followed my eyes to see Tom not far away.

"I can understand." She said in a considerate tone, her eyes suddenly became a little illusory, "A long time ago, I fell in love with a Slytherin just like you..."

I looked at her in surprise. She smiled: "Every time I see you and Riddle, I think of me and Barrow back then."

"Baro?" I opened my mouth in surprise, "You don't mean the bloody ghost Baro in Slytherin, do you?"

"Yes." She said softly, "A long time ago, Barrow was like Riddle, he was understanding, handsome and intelligent, but his temper was really bad..."

"Tom's even worse," I said gruffly.

Ms. Gray looked at me for a while in silence, as if she wanted to say something, but couldn't.

"I made a mistake," she said, sadness and shame filling her milky face. "I made a lot of mistakes."

"What do you mean? What mistake did you make?" I asked.

"Young hearts always do things that they regret for a lifetime because of impulsiveness and pride." She shook her head, stepped back, left these last words, and disappeared into the night sky.

I looked at the place where she disappeared, and my ears were filled with the laughter and singing of the students on the observatory. Many students began to follow the band, sitting on the ground, with beer bottles piled up beside them, holding hands, and singing together——

"Fools" said I,"Youdo not know

"What a fool," I said, "you don't know much

Silence like cancer grows”

Silence grows like a cancer"

Hearty words that Imight teach you

Beneficial teachings you should listen to

Take my arms that Imight reach to you

Helpful arms you should take

But my words like silent as raindropsfell

Words fall quietly like raindrops

Andechoedinthewellsofsilence

Echoed for a long time in the silent fountain

And the people bowed and prayed tothene ongod they made.

People worship and pray to their own neon gods

And the sign flashed out its warning

A warning from the gods flashes on the sign

And the words that it was forming

looming in line

And the sign said:

The notice board reads:

"The word of the prophets are written on the subway walls

"The proverbs of the sages are graffitied on the big wall of the subway

and tenement halls

and in the hallway of the apartment

And whispered in the sound of silence."

Spread far and wide in the sound of silence"

After that carnival night, the students of the four colleges went their separate ways.At that time, we had no idea that the peaceful era ushered in during our graduation season was so short. No one would have guessed that just ten years later, it was our 46th Hogwarts graduates who would usher in a new dark age for British wizardry.

That night was also the last time I saw Tom, since the day we left school, he disappeared from my life and was never seen again. It was as if all our memories disappeared with the end of our school years, Sylvia, Ida, Carl, Chris all lost touch with me.I still sometimes go back to the Hogwarts library and classrooms in my dreams, those long and boring history of magic classes, those esoteric transfiguration theories that I always don’t understand, those raw material ratios that I always misremember Potions class, those teachers who are always strict but kind...

But we can never go back to the past.Student days are really the golden age in our life.
