Lady Ada

Chapter 28

Nothing, but a simple birthday party is still needed. Ada is in the kitchen asking the cook how to make a birthday cake.

"Miss Ada!" Suddenly Helena rushed into the kitchen.Obviously, Helena's move made the old cook very dissatisfied.

"What's the matter?" Ada softly asked Helena who came to her.

"Mr. Kennedy is coming to the manor next evening...with Miss Liz." Helena lowered her voice.

"Why?" Ada asked coldly, "She should have come to question me first."

"I don't know..." Helena felt a little embarrassed, and she just came to tell Ada the news, "Today is Master Charlie's birthday, what should we do? We can't let him go back to my hometown now."

"No. Why can the two of them come back at this time." Ada still said coldly, "I'm going to call Liz..."

"No, Miss..." Helena sighed and said, "Miss Liz has delivered her and Mr. Kennedy's luggage just now."

"Throw them out." Leon's coming meant Ada couldn't properly throw Charlie's birthday party. She once promised her son that she would not break her promise.

"This, how can this work?!"

"I don't care." Ada turned her head hard and said to Helena.

"Maybe...maybe we can change the location? Well...it just won't let Mr. Kennedy meet..." Helena suggested cautiously.

Immediately Ada was silent, she frowned and thought for a while, it seemed that things could be handled more smoothly. She sighed and said to Helena: "Okay...that's not bad. Find a place far away from here...let the servants try to keep Leon away..."

"Miss, how about the greenhouse?" Helena had an idea, and guessed that the greenhouse would be a good choice.

"Very good. You and a few servants will arrange the place right away, and then take Charlie to stay there." Ada paused and said, "...I, uh...I may not be able to go there until after dinner .You stay with him first."

"Understood." After saying that, Helena rushed out of the kitchen.

Before the old cook was about to yell at Helena, Ada came to the cook first and smiled at her: "Mrs. Hodges, I think we can continue."

The atmosphere of the whole dinner process was very strange.Liz and the countess were almost the only two chatting.Confronting Ada again made Leon feel very embarrassed. He behaved very unnaturally, and he couldn't concentrate as if he was in a daze. And Ada's eyes are only fixed on her own food. She hurriedly finished her food and left without looking back.

The Greenhouse is located at the far left edge of Roderick's Manor, very close to Ada's Secret Garden. This beautiful greenhouse originally planted all kinds of precious and exotic plants, but since Earl Leemans owed debts, the greenhouse had to remove the precious plants because those plants required an expense to take care of them.Although only general plants are grown in the greenhouse now, this does not affect its function.Overall it is well maintained by the gardeners. The lights in the greenhouse were turned on, and small decorative bulbs were hung in some places that were not bright enough. There are colorful ribbons and decorations placed around by servants. It looks very childlike.A large round table and several chairs are placed in the center of the greenhouse, on which food has been placed, and of course there is a cake made by Ada himself in the middle. Now Charlie and Helena are there waiting for Ada to arrive.

"Baby Charlie, I'm sorry, mom is here." Ada pushed open the door of the greenhouse and walked over quickly.

"Mom!" Charlie, who was sitting on the chair, shook his hands happily. "Come on! Helena and I are waiting for you!"

"Mom is here." Ada came to Charlie, kissed his round cheek, "Happy Birthday!" and sat beside him. "let us start!"

Suddenly the door of the greenhouse was opened again, and the figure of Earl Leemans appeared at the door. "You don't mind letting me join?" he asked with a smile.

"Of course not, Dad." Ada smiled at Earl Leemans. "Dad, if it's convenient for you, please turn off the lights for us, Charlie is going to blow out the candles."

"No problem." Earl Leemans turned off the light and slowly groped for a chair by candlelight, and sat down. "Charlie, it's time to start!"

"Okay!" Charlie shouted, and then he folded his hands and closed his fingers, closing his eyes and making a wish.He already knew the process very well.In an instant, the candlelight was blown out by Charlie.

"Happy birthday! Charlie!" "4 years old!" "Happy birthday, Master Charlie!" A lot of blessings sounded in the darkness, and Charlie couldn't help "giggling" happily.

"Crack!" The light turned on instantly, and Helena had already stood in front of the switch, and walked slowly towards the table.

"Charlie, this is a present from your mother." Ada took out a rectangular flat box and handed it to Charlie.

"What's that?" Charlie turned to look at Ada.As he spoke, he began to unwrap his gift, which contained a beautiful pen. "A pen?"

"Yes." Ada reached out to stroke Charlie's head, "You're learning to write now, so you'll use it."

"Okay! Thank you, Mom!" Charlie lifted his body and kissed Ada on the cheek.

"This is from me, Charlie." Earl Leemans handed Charlie a small box that looked like a jewelry box.

When Charlie opened it, there were four small and exquisite buttons. "What kind of grandfather is this?" Charlie asked, handing the box to Earl Leemans.

"It's a button, kid." Earl Leemans raised his right hand, pointing with his left finger to the shirt button on his right wrist. "Gentlemen need them! Haha." He smiled kindly at Charlie.

Charlie didn't say a word, just stared blankly at his presents, stroking them lightly with his little fingers.

"Honey, say thank you to your grandpa." Ada stroked Charlie's head again.

"Thank you, Grandpa!" Charlie said loudly in a **** voice, and kissed Earl Leemans on the cheek as well.

Helena came to the table and began to distribute food among the three.

"Oh! Charlie, it seems you haven't received Helena's gift yet?" Ada asked with a smile.

"Helena gave it to me this morning! It's a beautiful tie!" Charlie said loudly again.

"Hmph! Helena, this is a foul." Ada smiled at Helena.

"Oh, I'm just using some "privilege" so that I can take a little lead." Helena smiled, "Sir, do you want some more juice?"

"Okay, thank you Helena." Earl Leemans handed over his cup, "Oh, Helena, you can just sit together. Don't just because I'm here, we are all Charlie's friends, regardless of status."

"Okay." Helena nodded.

Everyone had a great time tonight. They were like old friends celebrating a kid's birthday. The atmosphere will not be spoiled because of identity.Although the location is a bit special, Ada thought it was a very successful birthday party. Before leaving, Earl Leemans told Ada that Charlie's father was nearby, and he ordered Leon not to see Charlie.

The next day Liz and Leon went to the village to play, and Ada thought Charlie could come out for a walk.So after afternoon tea Ada took Charlie to work on the plants in her secret garden. They are dealing with a beautiful sweet-scented osmanthus.

"Mom! Did we have a guest today?" Charlie held a small shovel, ready to shovel the dirt.

After hearing this, Ada stopped what he was doing, he knew Leon was coming? Ada licked her lips, "Did you see that man, baby?"

"No, Mom!" Charlie shoveled the dirt, "I saw a car parked at the door this morning."

"Oh...really..." Ada turned her head guiltily, "Then, that's...well, Aunt Liz's future husband."

"Oh! Then can I meet him?" Charlie stopped and looked up at Ada.

"Humph", Ada snorted, she looked at Charlie and didn't want to answer his question. "Honey, let's get on with the flowers."

Charlie blinked at Ada a few times, and said slowly, "Okay..."

However, just when Ada collected the sweet-scented osmanthus and wanted to temporarily put them in the hut of the gardener Mr. Messer, she turned around and found Leon standing in the distance, looking at her! Ada gasped for an instant, her expression had never been so hard, her mind
