Lady Ada

Chapter 5

"Ada hurriedly put the shawl on her body.

"Uh...uh...if...you, if you find it inconvenient, you can ride back first, and I can walk." Leon thought about it, and this situation is still not suitable for riding together.

"No." Ada shook her head slightly. "You can go back on horseback, and I can walk. You are also soaked, aren't you? I know the way, so I can go back soon."

"...." Leon sighed, knowing that he couldn't change Ada's decision. "All right."

The steed galloped Leon again. The afterglow of the sunset shone on the grass, reflecting a beautiful picture. What a strange man.Watching Leon's back, Ada grunted, then silently picked up her things and walked towards the manor.

After a few days the temperature gradually dropped. The cold air has just stepped into November.Still, there is bright weather relief. The morning light from the outside illuminates the dining room, and the pure white dining room is brightly illuminated. On the table next to the door are many silver utensils, each containing food for the hosts to enjoy.

Helena dressed up for Ada early in the morning, and today she is wearing an orange long-sleeved dress.

"Good morning, Ada." The earl was already sitting in his seat, reading this morning's newspaper and greeting her.

"Good morning, Dad." Ada took her own breakfast and sat in the seat next to the earl. Two more letters were placed on the seat. "Oh, there are actually two letters today."

"Well..." the count replied absently, "By the way, Ada..." The count immediately put away the newspaper and looked at Ada cautiously.

"What's wrong?" He frowned, it seemed that Dad had something important to say? That's right, usually I'm the first to arrive in the morning besides my dad, so if you have something to say, it's the best time to use this time.

"Were your clothes soaked when you came back the afternoon before yesterday?" said the count, putting the newspaper aside.

"Yes. What's the matter?" Ada was puzzled, and this should be taken care of? "The straw hat fell into the water, I just went to pick it up."

"Well..." the earl paused, "Then, is Mr. Kennedy with you?"

"He thought I couldn't swim, so he just rescued me ashore. Oh! He just happened to pass by. Why do you ask this? We are all fine if we are not injured." Ada said indifferently, picked up the letter opener in the middle of the table, and cut Open the first letter.

"It's fine. Alas...Ada..." The count seemed relieved. "You know, last night Liz burst into my room and yelled. Said you were going to fight her, seduce her man."

"Pound!" Ada slammed the letter opener down on the table, making it bang. "...My God. Daddy, this is absolutely impossible, you know."

"Yes, yes, yes. Of course I know you wouldn't do such a thing." Of course the earl knew what Ada was like, but he had to make him speak in order to deal with Liz.

"That's right, isn't it?" Ada said dissatisfiedly to the earl, "Can't you just tell her that I won't do this?"

"Okay okay. I see...but Ada, you and Mr. Kennedy should pay attention to it from now on. You know Liz is sensitive about this."

"Hmph! I'm sorry, some situations are out of my control. But I suggest that she try to please Mr. Kennedy. Isn't that more useful?" Ada gave the count a disdainful look. Then she began to open her letter and read it.

"...Oh...I'll pass on your suggestion to her." After speaking, the count glanced at Ada's letter, "Whose letter is it from?" He wanted to end this embarrassing topic as soon as possible.

"Well..." Ada didn't look at the Earl, and continued to read her letter, "It's grandpa and grandma. They bought a house in New York, and they want me to visit them."

"Go to America? God, don't be joking." The earl looked very upset when he heard that, and picked up the newspaper next to him and read it again. "Don't forget the Titanic. How long has it been sinking? The current shipping companies are not honest at all. Businessmen are like this, they know how to opportunistic."

"Hmph, please, there are ships going to the United States every day, but not all of them sink." Ada was very dissatisfied with the Earl's reaction. Her grandparents were businessmen, and they saved two villages with their money.Soon Ada began to read the second letter, which was from John. He apologized for what happened last time, and he hoped to meet Ada again.

"Hey, who is going to America?" Claire and Chris came to the dining room together, "Good morning Dad, good morning Ada." Claire said hello to Earl and Ada while having breakfast.

"Good morning Dad, Ada." Chris also greeted the two.

"Good morning. Oh, Chris, when is your wedding to Jill?" Then the earl and Chris started planning the wedding time.

"Hey, Ada." Claire took the seat next to Ada, "You're going to America? What are you doing?"

"No, it hasn't been decided. Just got a letter from my grandparents, they want me to visit them in America."

"That's really great! You can go to the United States!" Claire said excitedly to Ada, "I want to go too! But, oh! You know, mom doesn't want me to leave her at all." Claire shrugged slightly discouraged.

"Oh! What are you afraid of? Why don't you go out and have a look?"

"That's the way it is. Ugh, but Mom doesn't like Americans. Always thinks they're ignorant people." Claire shrugged again, this time more resignedly. "But Mr. Kennedy told us a lot about America, it was so interesting! He said he would still be in New York if his dad hadn't asked him to come back."

"Hmph, I just said you get along better with him," Ada added in a low voice, "Compared to Liz, don't you?"

"Ha, I don't know what you're going to say." Claire gave Ada a playful look, without hiding her smug smile. "He gets on best with Chris. So I just think of him as the big brother."

"Hmm...Big brother..." Ada put a piece of bread into his mouth, "It's delicious. Butler Burton?"

"Yes, Miss Ada." Burton's butler, who was by the door, replied.

"Today's bread is delicious, thank the cook in the kitchen for me." Ada put another piece of bread into her mouth.

"Understood, miss." Butler Burton replied respectfully.

Chris and Jill's wedding is scheduled for April.Every spring is a world full of greenery. The trees on the mountain are covered with green clothes, and the grassland is full of flowers.Birds and flowers are everywhere, and the trees are green. In addition to the suitable temperature and environment, there are also the hard work of the villagers. They all sent the best wishes for Chris' wedding and prepared the best gifts for him.

Early in the morning, Jill's mother, the Viscountess, changed her into a pure white high-waisted long-sleeved wedding dress with a lot of beautiful dark flowers. The sleeves are loose balloon sleeves in organza. The waistline of the high waist is inlaid with a row of pearls. The hem of the skirt hangs down naturally, looking very noble. Finally, the Viscountess put on a veil studded with rhinestones for Jill and went out to receive the blessings of her family.

On the way from Roderick's manor to the village's cathedral, many villagers stood on both sides of the road, and they all couldn't wait to see the bride. The villagers almost clapped their hands and shouted, and the children even took flower baskets full of petals and sprinkled happy petals for Jill as her car passed by.

Everyone has been waiting in the church for a long time. Jill appeared at the door accompanied by her father, who walked from the carpet into the church on his arm.Candles of hope were lit on both sides of the aisle, and flowers were hung on the benches.Everyone couldn't take their eyes off the bride until they came to the front of Chris. Jill's father gave his daughter's hand to the future son-in-law with a lot of emotion. At this moment, the couple couldn't help but looked at each other shyly, and then walked towards the priest with a happy smile.

Immediately after the two declared their love and exchanged the rings, bells rang loudly and echoed throughout the hills, and cheers erupted.Family members, relatives and influential people from the two villages all came to the church to witness this sacred moment. Out of the corner of her eye, Ada couldn't help seeing her father's gratified smiling face. She knew that this was too important to her father, which meant that Chris would be the heir to the next Earl of Leemans, and the title of Earl would be inherited by her own children. If Jill can still give birth to a baby boy for them, then the bloodline of this family will continue.

Because of Chris' big wedding, the village celebrated for a whole week.People put down their work and went to various public places to gather, which was very lively.Roderick Manor even allowed many servants to go home to rest, leaving only a few important servants. The hosts, except Ada, are all traveling abroad.Since the death of the former Earl of Leemans, almost all the important affairs in the village have been decided by Ada, the former Earl of Leemans
