Chapter 105 The Tranquility Before the Storm

Harry stood aside, listening to Tom's skillful questioning. In just a few minutes, he had already got all the information he wanted. For example, the Riddle family lived in the big house on the opposite hillside. For example, Merope Gunter and Riddle eloped. For example, Riddle abandoned Merope Gunter after a few months and returned to the village. For example, the Slytherin's gold locket that went missing with Merope Gaunt.

"So, you're their son, right?" Morfin-Gunter said emphatically, looking back at Harry, who had said a word from the beginning until now. "And who are you? We, Gaunt, should be the only descendants of Slytherin. Why do you say what we say?"

Harry didn't know how to explain it.This question is too complicated, and he suspects that it is probably useless to say it.

"Tell me, who are you? What do you have to do with Slytherin?" Morfin Gaunt took another step forward, as if he wanted to get closer to Harry and press him. Before he could put his foot down, however, it was as if he had hit an invisible wall and staggered backwards onto the chair. He toppled over with the chair, with a loud bang and a rattling sound of shattering glass bottles, sending debris flying everywhere.

Harry was startled, then realized that someone must have cast a silent blocking spell. "Tom!" He said reproachfully, "He is your uncle after all!" The person on the ground fell hard, and he was unconscious at first, but now he probably passed out.

"He's not safe," said Tom curtly.

So, in fact, he was afraid that Morfin would be bad for him?Harry gave Tom a suspicious look, then stepped forward to check on the fallen man to make sure he was not hurt. "Are you done asking? Next..."

Tom stood motionless, watching Harry's actions. "The Riddle House, it's obvious."

"What's so interesting about that Muggle?" Harry straightened up, trying to persuade Tom to change his mind.If he remembered correctly, the old Riddles were rich, but also mean; their son, Voldemort's father, was even worse than his parents. The Riddles were the richest in Little Hangleton, but also the worst in reputation.Harry felt that it was definitely not a good idea for Tom and his son to meet.

Tom was unmoved. "I want to see what kind of a guy that guy is." Out of the corner of his eye, he looked over Harry and onto the man behind him - the man's fingers, to be exact. But Harry didn't notice.

The son wants to see the father he has never met. This reason is indestructible to ordinary people, but if it is Voldemort... Harry thought about it and decided not to say this: "Use the invisibility spell... just go after seeing it, okay ?"

Tom looked at him long and silently.Just when Harry thought his suggestion would be ignored, the latter nodded.

The two walked through the winding dirt road again, walked back to the intersection at the entrance of the village, and climbed up the hillside on the other side. The mansion of the Riddle Mansion is very conspicuous. Apart from the church and the cemetery in the whole village, that is the most attractive place.

It is now lunchtime, and smoke is rising from the roofs of every house.Harry and Tom had just reached the front of the house when a woman came out, dressed like a cook. She passed directly by the invisible two, and Harry heard her swearing under her breath, which roughly meant that old Riddle was very rich and kept his wages.Harry was sure Tom must have heard it too, but he couldn't see the other person's expression now.

When the cook was gone, Harry whispered, "Shall we go in, Tom?" If there were any other people nearby, they would have been terrified, because they couldn't see the speaker, but they could hear the voice.

"Let's go." Tom obviously hasn't gone far.

Harry could tell where Tom was going by picking up the slight rustle of feet on the grass. They went straight through the closed gate - yes they did, Harry's invisibility spell was even better - through the garden (you can see a dilapidated log cabin outside, probably where the gardener lives) , into the foyer.

The Riddles were eating.Old Riddle sat at the central seat, with his wife and son beside him.Harry casually glanced at the menu (very rich), the floor was covered with a thick layer of Tabriz wool rugs embroidered with palm leaves and bouquets, and then saw a half-person-high rug at the corner of the stairs , Cloisonne vases from the Far East.Compared with Gaunt's old house, this place is heaven. What the three of them were talking about during the meal was nothing more than some questions about the harvest and rent in the field, but wizards would definitely not be interested in such topics.

Harry stood there for a moment.Tom seemed unresponsive, not at all.Just when he couldn't bear to wait, he suddenly heard a small voice next to his ear: "Let's go."

"So, you're really just here to see?" They left the Riddle Mansion (or passed through) through the ivy-covered back door, and walked to a deserted meadow, Harry asked impatiently as soon as they lifted their invisibility .Invisibility had been terrible, and he now felt the pain of Hermione and Ron having to talk to him in the cloak. Also, what are they here for?Watch the old Riddles have lunch?

"No," said Tom curtly, "the locket isn't in Riddle's place. I tried it with the Coming Charm, and there's no way a Muggle can get around that."

Of course the locket is not in the Riddle house, it should still be in the hands of the old miser.Thinking about the locket, though? This is Voldemort's usual style. "So we can go now?" Harry asked hopefully. It was very good that Tom had not shown any intention of killing so far; but in order to prevent this possibility completely, it would be better for them to leave Little Hangleton as soon as possible.

Tom didn't answer him, but lay down, looking as if he was going to sunbathe on the grass. "It's sunny."

Harry looked down at him.The scorching sun at noon in midsummer, Tom said the sun is not bad?But like this, it is estimated that he will definitely not want to move for a while.Harry took out his wand, cast a cooling promise, and sat down beside Tom. "This is not bad." After his magic, the temperature in their area immediately dropped several degrees; and the sunlight at twelve o'clock in the noon also weakened suddenly, just like the oblique light at four or five o'clock in the evening. According to the effect, the sun makes people feel warm all over.

"You often cast magic outside of school, too." Tom squinted slightly, obviously very comfortable, with a lazy expression like a big cat.

Harry simply lay down side by side, and followed Tom's gaze towards the black forest on the opposite hillside. "As I said earlier, I'm not a good and law-abiding student. The Ministry of Magic may not be able to detect it, I think." He said the last sentence very lightly, as if talking to himself.

But Tom heard it, and his pupils shrank quickly.

Seeing him not moving, Harry guessed that he wasn't paying attention at all, so he picked up another topic: "Do you really want the locket?"

"That is to say, you are going to reveal some relevant information, Mr. Know-it-all?" Tom responded quickly this time, his tone sounding extremely relaxed.

"If you want." Harry teased back.He rolled his eyes, then half stood up, and looked at the people around him: "Why do I feel that something is wrong with you?"

Tom had his eyes closed by this time, as if about to take a nap. "Huh?" He uttered a vague syllable from his nose, "What's the matter?"

"It's so peaceful," said Harry earnestly.Whether it's the Resurrection Stone Ring or Slytherin's gold locket, Tom should be very interested. But from the beginning to the end of this matter, he didn't see any expression on Tom's face other than calm, and now he was about to doze off.It felt strange and wrong, as if Tom had seen through life in an instant...

Tom seemed really close to falling asleep. "You have so many questions... Is it normal for me to rush up and give them Avada Kedavra..."

Harry was about to say, that's what you did, but the words got out of his mouth. In terms of eloquence, he will never beat Voldemort, whether it is the younger one or the later one.Harry lay back puffed up, wondering what the hell was wrong.

But as soon as he lay down, he felt drowsiness sweeping over him.So sleepy... Harry turned over in a daze, so sleepy...

There was a voice coming from afar, as if it was in the ears and in the sky, "You will remember me, won't you?"

Who is disturbing people's dreams...

"Of course..." Harry heard a voice answer, and then a wet touch fell on his lips. Then, he really fell asleep.

By the time Harry opened his eyes, the sun was already in the west.He rubbed his eyes, then realized that Tom wasn't there.Harry jumped up immediately, looking around. Not a single person!

Harry suddenly had a bad feeling. He fell asleep inexplicably, and now Tom left without saying goodbye. Could it be that he was hypnotized by Tom?Think of Tom's overly calm reaction, even looking for the locket was perfunctory. This looks like... acting?Deliberately acting for yourself? To numb your nerves?Harry sprinted down the hill, noticing in the process that he didn't have his wand with him.

But everything is fine at the Riddle House.Looking in from the window, the Riddles and sons are reconciling accounts in the study; while the old lady is wandering in the garden.

Harry continued to rush down, around the tavern, toward the fork in the road, and onto the dirt road with its potholes.Every household in the village is cooking dinner, and there is no one on the road. His heart was beating fast, and he hoped Merlin would bless him, and he had time to stop Tom before he did!

The door of Gaunt's old house was ajar.Harry ran over and pushed the door open in one breath, and was immediately horrified by what he saw.The candlelight flickered in the room, one person was lying on the ground, the other kept bending over, the short knife in his hand reflected the dim red light. The one lying on the ground was of course Morfin Gaunt, as if dead, unresponsive and motionless. The man with the dagger turned his head when he heard the sound, and it was Tom.Harry saw sharply that his other hand was holding the black stone ring.

"Stop!" Harry yelled almost without thinking. "What are you doing, Tom?"

Tom straightened up slowly, still holding the short knife in his hand. "You shouldn't be here."
