Chapter 161 Prequel 8 - Applying Again

It was late June when Voldemort - no, Malveron Carold as he should be called now - entered Hogwarts again.During the final exam period, he walked all the way through the castle gate without meeting any students. He planned to get the crown back first, just in case.So when he climbed up to the eighth floor, he walked to the end of the corridor first, walked back and forth three times in the Room of Requirement, and then slipped in from the door that appeared on the wall.

The Room of Requirement is a mountain of stuff left by Hogwarts students over the centuries, and it's all in a crumbling, dirty look.Voldemort circled around a few times, following the route he remembered, and saw the diadem being worn on top of a wizard's gray and dull hair.Of course, this is not according to his memory, but the memory of the savior. After all, you can't expect something that has been hidden in it for decades to still be in place. It has to be said that even if he was bothered by the savior's thinking before, this time he did save a lot of time.

This is the penultimate one, thought Voldemort, holding the dusty diadem. He tapped it with his wand, and the diadem vanished from the air.He can't take a Ravenclaw relic to apply for the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor... Then again, he should do two things in the staff he placed through the Department of Mysteries and the Department of International Magical Cooperation (UK and France) After the fake identity, even if Dumbledore went to check, it would be impossible to find something wrong. So he just needs to wait in Hogwarts for the savior to come automatically...

Thinking so, Voldemort left the Room of Requirement again. He adjusted his expression facing the wall, then turned around slowly and walked to the principal's office on the other side.

At this time Dumbledore was waiting inside to meet his candidate for the Defense Against the Dark Arts course.Since Voldemort had applied for the professorship of this subject some years ago, no one had successfully stayed in this position for more than a year. Most people retreated despite the difficulties, and a small number of those who didn't believe suffered more or less disasters. For example, this year, he has never submitted his resignation letter, and as a result, three accidents occurred in a week-one was strangled by a beaten man's willow and thrown wildly in the air, and one was beaten by horsemen on the edge of the Forbidden Forest (God knows how he was stupid enough to piss off the horseman), fell eight floors on a stair trap... which caused him to have to stay in the school hospital for two months until the summer vacation.

Dumbledore looked at the job advertisement in the newspaper (on the other side Rita Skeeter was sneering at it), and sighed deeply.Under such circumstances, he basically couldn't have too high demands on the applicants, because this was really the most dangerous job in the magic world. At the breakfast table the other day, all the professors expressed how pessimistic they were about the matter.Hogwarts teachers have a tenure history as long as a thousand years (Professor Binns), and five or sixty years are more common. Only this position is changing like a lantern. To be honest, Dumbledore felt that there were still people willing to apply for this position at this time, so he should thank Merlin for his protection.

So, as one can imagine, when Dumbledore saw that the only applicant for the job was a young man in his early twenties, he felt that it was as expected. Thanks to Voldemort's curse, the only people who dare to challenge dangerous positions are young men.

"Good morning." Someone pushed the door open, and Dumbledore looked up from the newspaper. His hands were on the table, his fingertips were facing each other, and his blue eyes were looking at the person coming. "You are……"

"Malveyron Carold. You can call me Mal, Professor Dumbledore." Voldemort smiled decently and closed the door by the way. This sort of dialogue was as off-putting to him as the password he'd read to the gargoyle when he came in, but he could make it look like he didn't care.

"Well, yes. Sit down, Mal." Dumbledore conjured a chair for him with his wand.He had read the other party's resume, all of them were born and bred French. "Would you like something to drink?"

According to Voldemort's own character, he certainly wouldn't want it.But the role he is playing now is a young boy, no matter how you say it, he has to show some admiration for the famous White Wizard (the goddamn admiration, Voldemort spits in his heart), so Voldemort only pursed his lips, showing a slightly nervous expression. With a smile: "Thank you, I want to drink some cold beer, do you have it here?"

Dumbledore's hand holding the wand paused, and then showed a very interested expression: "Sounds like Muggle food? Do you know anything about Muggles, Mal?"

Very good, he knew that the entry point should start here, Voldemort said to himself in his heart.Showing one's strength in the first place would be an act of foolish provocation that Dumbledore would not appreciate. This is another opportunity from which he can very well start to elicit his world travel. “Yes,” he admits, “when I was in Hamburg, Germany, their Oktoberfest revelry seemed to pick up the dark beer...it tasted really good.”

"Sounds like a wonderful festival. I don't have dark beer here for the time being, is butter beer okay?" Seeing the other party nodding, Dumbledore sat down and stared at the other party with his blue eyes.Roald's resume looks mediocre, but he looks a little different. "I wanted to ask some other questions, but now, I think I should have heard your experience first."

Voldemort held a large glass with foam, and smiled smugly in his heart. He had succeeded in arousing Dumbledore's interest, and by the time he had told all those experiences, Dumbledore would definitely think of him as a studious and passionate wizard who loved Muggles as much as he did.He would never have imagined that the Dark Lord could do the same.

Facts unfolded as he expected.Voldemort recounted to Dumbledore what he had seen and heard around the world, emphasizing descriptions of Muggle life and his own panic when encountering difficulties.Of course, in the end he solved them without any risk, and as the price for his love of adventure, the magic wand that had accompanied him for more than ten years was buried in the flames of the Peruvian Venomous Dragon.

Dumbledore listened intently, nodding now and then. This is probably the best narrator he has encountered in decades. Every story is thrilling and just right, and he has built a protagonist image from these stories.Clearly, the opponent went to great lengths to appear humble and polite, but was actually as complacent about his record as any twenty-something could be.Dumbledore can be sure that if Roald studies at Hogwarts, he will definitely be the prefect, the head of the male student union, and the darling in the eyes of all teachers... I have to say that his guess is correct, because Voldemort That's the kind of person.

In fact, these descriptions were indeed enough to remind Dumbledore of the only one in distant memory that met the requirements. But clearly Roald and Voldemort were different - Muggles alone were enough proof. So he finally said: "There is no doubt that you are a genius, Mal." He saw the other party showing a look of shock and implied surprise, waved his hand, and continued: "You don't need to deny it, this thing is obvious Yes. Now that I know all this, I have only one question for you—why did you give up the risk and volunteer to apply for a teaching position at Hogwarts? You know, this is much more prosaic. And on your terms, Not to mention the professor at Hogwarts, basically any position can reserve a place for you." Roald is indeed too good, and compared with the cursed position, it is completely impossible for him to apply understandable.

"You are too praiseworthy, Professor Dumbledore." Roald smiled. "I assume you are satisfied with me, that's why I want to mention that long-rumored curse?" Of course, he knew that Dumbledore would doubt it, and he had already prepared an answer for it.

Dumbledore blinked.Sure enough, he is a smart person, and he immediately heard the meaning behind his words. "I have to remind each candidate as a routine. Because not long ago, our Defense Against the Dark Arts professor had an accident."

Roald nodded.Of course he knew that "that little accident" could basically be said to be a fatal accident. But according to what he knew about Dumbledore, the other party said so, the will was obviously biased towards keeping him.He wanted to laugh wildly, but the more he got to the last moment, he had to hold his breath. He controlled himself to show a worried but actually expectant expression, "This is exactly my purpose, Professor Dumbledore. I want to know, is there really an unknown curse and an invincible danger in this world?"

For a moment, Dumbledore felt that he saw himself and Grindelwald in each other when they were young.Curious about the unknown and fearless, but their direction is the Deathly Hallows, while Roald's direction is to challenge the Dark Lord.Obviously the purpose of the latter is purer than theirs, which is just a desire for power.

"Then that's it, you are welcome to be a part of Hogwarts." Dumbledore stood up and held out his hand.He has always admired capable juniors, and it would be better if the direction is correct - let Roald stay at Hogwarts, he can have more opportunities to exert influence on the development direction of the other party. With Roald's strength, he has every hope of becoming the third Dark Lord in modern history, and Dumbledore doesn't want to see this.

Roald also stood up, showing a decent smile again. The two men clasped their hands over the desk. "Thank you very much for giving me this position." Of course he could think of the reason why Dumbledore agreed so quickly, and it was nothing more than some ideas related to world domination. He certainly wouldn't be the third Dark Lord, because he already was.
