Chapter 12 The Shepherd Makes a Wish Secretly

The sun sets fast.

It was obviously just a scene of the afterglow of the setting sun, but now it has completely disappeared behind the hills. The moon has not had time to rise yet, only a little light from the distant horizon.

The sky turns from light to thick vine purple.

Paine walked up the hill with Xi Di and Brice.

His big dog had already gotten to know Sidi well. He had been herding sheep for a whole day, and he was still full of energy. He ran around beside them, and from time to time, he used his big head to rub Sidi's calf.

"What's your name?" Sheedy asked.

He spoke directly to the dog, but of course the dog would not answer. It was Paine who walked in front, turned around and said with a smile, "His name is Doki."

Siddie: "Dog?"

Doki means dog.

"Almost." Paine was obviously very proud of the name he chose, "Isn't it nice?"

Xi Di: "..."

Xidi was an honest boy, so he didn't speak, but patted the dog's head silently.

Duoqi couldn't understand anyway, he only knew that someone called him, and he was quite excited, wagging his tail at him.

Paine's house was at the top of a raised hill.

There are only two houses here, one on the left and the other on the right, each surrounded by a fence and has a small yard.

One of the yards was neglected and already overgrown with weeds.

"This is it." Paine led them to the house, took out the key from under a stone at the door, and opened the door to signal them to go in. "There's nothing inside... but it should be enough for one night."

The room is very tidy, with ordinary desks and chairs, and there is a door at the back, which leads to the bedroom, which is simply furnished.

"I live right next door." Paine pointed in the direction of another house, "If you have anything to do or something you want at night, you can come to me—have you two had dinner tonight?"

Sheedy: "We have rabbits."

Xidi had beaten two rabbits during the day, but she hadn't eaten them yet, so she kept thinking about them.

Paine: "...a rabbit?"

He couldn't realize the connection between the rabbit and the dinner for a while, but it was Bryce who joined the conversation in time: "Thank you for your generosity, we don't need anything at the moment, please rest."

Pan En was unconsciously led away by his words: "Okay, then I'll go back first."

It was indeed getting late, and besides, he was not very familiar with these two travelers, so Pain didn't ask any more questions, and turned back to his home to rest.

Bryce closed the door, raised his hand as he took off his cloak, and the room was lit up with balls of light, and the light was just right.

Sheedy sits at the table and offers her opinion: "I don't like talking to him."

It's not that he has any objections to Paine himself, it's just that Xidi and his way of thinking are completely different, even if he said something, it would be difficult for the other party to understand immediately.

Besides, Paine was a little too cheerful and enthusiastic. Xidi had never met such a person, and she was not used to it.

Brice, on the other hand, seemed to be very familiar with the methods of communicating with various people, and said very considerately: "If you don't like it, just wait for me to come and talk to him...he's back."

There was another knock at the door.

Xidi jumped off the table silently, Bryce took the hood back, and opened the door: "Is there anything else you can do?"

Paine stood at the door, holding a plate in his hand: "I brought some biscuits I baked by myself - they taste pretty good, try it?"

"Okay." Brice took the plate and thanked him gracefully, "Thank you very much."

Paine is enthusiastic by nature: "It's nothing, I hope you have a good time tonight."

Brice followed suit: "Yes, and you too."

Xidi walked up behind Brice, looked around for a while, and suddenly asked Paine: "What is this?"

Around Paine's waist hung something consisting of several wooden pipes with holes in them that looked like musical instruments.

But Sheedy had never seen such an instrument.

"Pan flute, just for fun." Paine scratched his head, held it up for him to see, "Are you interested? I've played this one before, and I'll find you a new one."

The instruments used to play cannot be exchanged, anyway, the pan flute is not a valuable item, Paine was so hospitable, he really went home and looked through the cabinets, and handed Xidi a new one.

"Send you off." He was very generous, "It is fate to meet you."

Xidi will not be polite. He was curious, so he took it generously, but he still remembered to thank him: "Thank you, you are really a good person."

The good guy Pan En didn't know what kind of pervert the child standing in front of him was, so he nodded cheerfully: "You're welcome, then I'll go back, good night, both of you."

Brace: "Good night."

Sidi waved her hand obediently.

After seeing off the shepherd, Brice put the plate with the biscuits on the table and asked Xidi, "This is a lodging, how do you feel?"

Sheedy: "It's okay."

The curiosity about "staying overnight" has basically passed. Although I live in someone else's house, that's basically the case.

Xidi's interest shifted quickly, one experience was enough, and she decided not to come next time.

The young man cautiously picked up a small biscuit from the plate, held it up to his eyes and looked at it for a long time, then turned back to look at Brice.

Brice reminded him intimately: "I've read it, it's not poisonous."

Sidi: "I know."

There was a little doubt in the boy's beautiful green eyes. He sniffed it like a small animal, stuffed the biscuit into his mouth, and gnawed thoughtfully for a while.

something strange.

But not annoying.

"It's delicious." Xidi chewed with puffy cheeks, and took another biscuit into her mouth, "You try it?"

Bryce: "Okay."

Instead of reaching for the plate, he lowered his head slightly and bit off the half of Sheedy's mouth.

In fact, the two didn't meet each other, but Xi Di was stunned for a moment and swallowed the biscuit: "I'm tired today."

No matter how good the recovery ability is, it is impossible to recover immediately after messing around in the forest all afternoon.

"I know." Brice smiled, and touched his lips gently again, "I won't touch you tonight, take a good rest."

Sidi gave a vague 'hmm'.

He is not very convinced.

If you don't want me, why are you looking at me like that?

It's like a wolf longing for warmth and afraid of a burning bonfire.

Greedy and persistent.

Xi Di stared at Brice for a while, then looked away, picked up the pan flute that Pan En gave her, and played a few times tentatively.

It's a pity that he doesn't know anything about musical instruments. He has never learned this thing, and the pan flute doesn't play at all.

Brace: "Shall I play it to you?"

Sidi: "Would you?"

Bryce smiled. "I'm a bard. What do you think?"

He found a rope to gather his long hair, took the panpipe in Xidi's hand, sat by the bed, and played softly.

The sound of the pan flute is clear and soft, even in such a quiet night, it will not seem obtrusive.

It's a song I've never heard.

Xidi felt a little sleepy when she listened.

He never forced himself, he went to bed when he felt sleepy, pulled the quilt to cover the lower half of his face, and stared at Brice beside the bed.

Look at this person's gentle expression, delicate tear mole, high nose bridge, beautiful neck, and slender fingers.

They've done all the intimate things in the world together.

He only knows his first name.

The boy was about to fall asleep, and he asked vaguely, "What's the name of this song?"

Before waiting for an answer, he had already closed his eyes.

Brace played for a while, put down the panpipe, and smoothed Sidi's warm brown hair, very softly.

"The Fairy Rider," he said, "is a legend in this land."

The night in the village was very quiet.

Originally, the houses of the villagers were scattered among the houses, and the one they were in was farther away from the settlement, basically alone on a small hill, except for the occasional wind and insects, they could not hear any sound.

Sidi slowly opened his eyes.

In the room, there is only a small light hanging from the corner of the roof, and the halo is soft.

He was alone on the bed.

He looked at the beams on the roof, then turned his head slightly, his voice had a nasal sound that had just woken up: "What are you doing?"

Brace sat on a table by the window.

The windows were wide open, letting in the clear moonlight.

"You're awake." Brace looked back at Sidi on the bed, "Do you want to come and see?"

Sidi sat up, walked slowly to his side, and unceremoniously threw herself into Brice's arms: "I'm cold."

He absorbed some warmth from Brice's body, and only then did he have time to look out the window: "What do you want me to see?"

"Fairy Knight." Brace wrapped his arms around the boy's waist, and put his chin on his shoulder. "It seems that we are really lucky today."

Xidi looked in the direction he indicated.

The night sky is vast on the grassland.

Because there is no occlusion, it can be seen far away, and the twinkling stars form a long river, spreading to the unreachable sky.

Under the starry sky, there is a figure, riding a black horse, walking up the hillside.

The bright moonlight reflected the face of the person who came. She was a black-haired girl, she didn't seem to be tall, and she was even more petite when she was riding a horse.

Sidi: "Why don't knights wear armor?"

Bryce: "The goblin doesn't need to fight, and he doesn't need to worry about falling off his horse and getting hurt. Probably not."

Sidi: "There are legends."

Brace: "Legends are just legends."

Xi Di was persuaded by him and nodded: "She is coming this way."

Brace: "She's not here for us."

Under the watchful eyes of the two, the elf knight's black horse walked to Paine's room.

The girl dismounted, stood by the window, and stared into it without moving.

Siddie: "She picked Paine?"

The boy's voice was full of curiosity, without any strange color: "Then are they going to mate soon?"

"Maybe," Brace said. "If the legend is true, she'll ring a golden bell and lead him into the forest if she's attracted to Paine."

But the girl did not take out the bell.

She just stood in front of the window and looked in silently.

Xidi eagerly licked her teeth: "What's the difference between a goblin and a human?"

Brace held him down to touch Scythe's arm.

"What are you doing?" The boy twisted his body dissatisfiedly, then turned to stare at him, "I didn't intend to kill you."

He just wanted to see if the goblin would die.

With one arm around Siddie's waist and the other around his wrist, Brace held the little scythe with him.

"Can't I still satisfy you?" His voice was gentle, his movements were gentle, and he led the blade across his throat slowly.

The tip of the knife pierced through a shallow layer, exuding a thin line of blood, as if a little force could take away Bryce's life.

Xi Di didn't expect him to be like this all of a sudden.

The boy's hand holding the handle of the knife tightened suddenly, and even his breathing was a little short. His eyes almost never stopped, and immediately turned into thick gold representing excitement.

Bryce slightly raised the corners of his lips, and kissed Sidi's eyelids as if rewarding him.

"Don't look at her..."

"I'm the only one who can make you feel so excited."

Otherwise he will be jealous.
