"My name is Maria." The girl showed a shy and shy smile. This is an ordinary country girl with freckles clearly visible on her light-colored skin and flaxen hair. The guest brought warm milk and bread, "Are the two doctors here?"

Doctor John nodded, "Yes, I heard that someone here is sick."

"Some people have already died," Maria said. "There are still people who fell down inexplicably, foaming at the mouth, and talking nonsense."

"They all say there are witches in the village," Maria said.

"Catch the witch, that's fine." Maria said worriedly, "But the dead person is really scary, it must be a very scary witch."

The two guests exchanged glances, "Can I see the dead people?"

The girl said that she had pale golden hair and rare violet eyes. For some reason, Maria felt inexplicably close to her when she first saw her.

Although she had never met her parents, when she saw this young girl, she felt a sense of familiarity similar to that feeling.

"Both the earl and the priest said that the corpses should not be looked at casually." Maria said, "I know they are stored in the basement of the church, locked and guarded."

The girl with purple eyes smiled encouragingly, she turned her head to look at the night outside the window, "If you are not allowed to look, then forget it."

There was a bit of surprise on the doctor's face, but the next second he felt something was wrong.

A large number of crows were disturbed by something, and they flew up in a mass of darkness, pulling out a deep black river in the twilight. The crows were making noise, and the villagers pulled up their curtains in fear, holding the cross, Pray that the devil will not come and take me away.

The girl stretched out a hand to block Maria's front, while the doctor raised the window slightly with his hand, and a trace of doubt flashed in his eyes.

He moved his nose, then walked over, and whispered in Prometheus' ear, "It's strange, I clearly didn't smell anything when I came here tomorrow."

"But now I'm sure there is a devil here," said the doctor.

Prometheus rubbed his eyes, "Your father has always been tolerant of devils, and you have no position to let all the devils return to their happy hometown."

The doctor hesitated for a while, then he raised the lamp, "I'm going to go out and have a look."

"Okay." The girl encouraged, "By the way, come back with a corpse." She said.

Maria yelled in surprise, and the doctor smiled apologetically at her. He tilted his head and thought for a while.

"To tell you the truth, I have never stolen a corpse before." He showed embarrassment. "And stealing a corpse is not right. If it is found out, I will be burned to death. If I am lucky, I will be hanged."

"Then I'll go and steal it." The girl suggested irresponsibly, "But I still need you to help me move it."

"Once a person becomes dead, it will be very heavy." She spread her hands and said brightly.

"Will you understand how he died just by looking at the corpse?" Maria couldn't help asking.

"Many times, the corpse can talk." The doctor affirmed, "There will be traces of how it died."

Maria nodded, "Okay, I'll move it for you."

Both the girl and the doctor showed surprised expressions, "Little girl, you will be hanged for stealing a corpse." The doctor said solemnly.

"Aren't you going too?" Maria said, "If the corpse is really useful, I can help."

She said seriously, "I'm usually very strong."

"And when I was herding the sheep, I saw a way to enter the church without going through the monks." Maria said.

The purple-eyed girl thought for a while, then she stretched out a hand, and Maria grabbed that hand.

"Can you tell me the reason?" Dr. John said, "Why do you do such a dangerous thing."

Maria thought for a while.

She lowered her eyes.

"Because someone also told me that if you look at the corpse, you probably know what's going on."

"Who said that?" asked Dr. John.

Maria shook her head, and Doctor John saw that the girl didn't want to talk about it, so he tolerantly ignored the question.

Doctor John was carrying the lamp and was about to walk on that road, but the purple-eyed girl tugged at his clothes behind him.

"Look at this," she said, crouching down.

Dr. John looked at what she was studying, "This is the hoofprint of a sheep." He said softly, "There seems to be something wrong."

"It's very wrong. Sheep don't make such deep hoofprints." The girl stretched out her hand and measured it with her fingers. "This guy walks on two feet, about two hundred catties."

"It's the devil," said Dr. John softly.

Maria's hand holding the lamp trembled a little, "No one has ever herded sheep on this road."

Doctor John patted her on the shoulder, "It's okay, they won't come tonight."

The girl stood up, and the crow landed on her hand, seeming to be talking to her.

"Is she a witch?" Maria asked softly, "Why would she talk to a crow."

"It's hard to say clearly." Doctor John said, the girl tilted her head and exchanged views with the crow, and then the crow flapped its wings and flew away.

"What does it say?" asked Dr. John.

The girl was silent for a while, "It's nothing, probably because they said they don't want to eat the corpses here, and they will die if they eat them."

She lifted the lamp and continued walking in.

The darkness was as deep as a bewilderment, but the white mist gradually floated up. It was thick and thick, as if it was a heavy white mist, wrapping around everyone's body, making the tree trunks wet. Even with a lamp, you couldn't see far.

Everything seemed extraordinarily quiet and chilling. Doctor John asked Maria to hold his clothes and walk carefully on the road, while Prometheus walked in front, holding a lamp, but she looked very relaxed. The pace is brisk.

Then she raised her hand, turned off the lights, and pointed to the dark building not far away, "I think it's better not to turn on the lights if you get too close."

"Forget that you are experienced in this field," said Dr. John.

The girl gave him a reproachful look, "I don't think you are praising me."

"Of course I didn't," said Dr. John, turning his head suddenly. "Where's Maria?"

"She's long gone." The girl said calmly.

"She probably won't go to the priest." Doctor John's face showed a trace of panic.

"It doesn't matter if you find it or not." The girl said coldly, "Can you stop going because there are too many people in the way?"

Doctor John had to admit that this guy was inherently dangerous, with almost no sense of morality, but she had already inserted a knife into the crack of the door, picked the latch, and then turned her ears to listen to the movement inside.

"Is anyone there?" Dr. John asked in a low voice.

"There are a lot of people, I feel like they are waiting to arrest us." The girl said softly.

"Are you planning to go to jail?" Dr. John turned to run, but she grabbed his wrist, "Wouldn't it be better."

She showed a smile, dangerous and presumptuous, with a hint of smugness, "If you want to find the smell of the devil, then it's here."

She pushed the door open.

"My dear priest, and Mr. Earl."

The people waiting solemnly in the room were startled by the girl's actions. Doctor John looked over, and there were villagers with farm tools, priests in holy robes, and the legendary earl.

And of course Maria.

The girl looked around, showed a faint smile, and then pushed Dr. John in front of her, "This gentleman wants to announce something. One of you here is possessed by a devil."

The villagers, like a pack of loyal wolves, became agitated for a moment. They looked at each other, and finally turned their attention to the girl and the doctor again.

The doctor's expression changed several times.

He finally raised his hand, "Everyone, please listen to me."

The priest sneered, "He's just a liar, and he said he has a holy relic."

The priest took out a feather from his pocket, "And said it was some kind of angel's feather, it's just a parrot's."

The crowd was in an uproar.

"Yes, it is indeed a parrot." The girl smiled, "but he does have angel feathers."

"Where is it?" said the priest. "I have all his luggage."

He shook the worn-out bag, and some herbs, small scales, and copper weights fell out of it.

"Don't move." The doctor seemed a little anxious.

"Sigh, it seems that the herbs you have carefully accumulated are about to leave you." The girl folded her arms and chose to add oil and vinegar.

"Prove that you are a saint, show me." The priest said with a smile, and the count also laughed. The fat on the two fat men's bodies trembled as they laughed, and the doctor's eyebrows sank.

"Catch them for me," ordered the count. "Tomorrow I will hang them on my tower."

"They must be wizards, wizards who want to steal corpses." The villagers discussed, "Maria said that girl can still talk to crows."

"It is said that they are here to treat illnesses, but in fact they are stealing corpses to feed to the devil."

"Kill them, and there will be no deaths."

"Please listen to me." The doctor said loudly. He still looked docile and peaceful, but with a hint of helplessness. "There are no witches in this village. I will prove it to everyone."

"No matter how many people are killed, the disease will not stop."

The crowd fell silent briefly.

The doctor heaved a long sigh.

He walked over, stretched out his hand, and placed it on a villager.

"Now, talk," said the doctor softly.

Several muddy voices rolled out of the villagers' throats.

"What?" he said in surprise, then couldn't believe his ears.

The smiles of the priest and the earl suddenly froze on their faces.

This man is dumb.

The doctor's eyes fell on the priest's face, and he gazed at him.

The priest fell to his knees with a plop.

Then there was silence in the hall, and the crowd knelt on the ground one after another, revealing the covered cross.

The girl smiled, looked at the doctor's face, and he put on a helpless expression.

"It is said that you are naturally cunning," said the doctor.

"They're right." The girl said with a smile.
