withered lover

Chapter 60 Discomfort

On the way home, Shen Guiwan was surprisingly quiet.

After running around for a whole day, he squinted his eyes and leaned against the window when he got in the car. He didn't speak to Du Zhinian, and frowned when the car ran over the speed bump.

Du Zhinian slowed down and drove smoothly all the way back to the underground parking lot of the apartment.

When getting out of the car, Shen Guiwan sat with his head down for a long time while holding the car door, seemingly uncomfortable. Du Zhinian touched his forehead and the back of his neck, and his skin, covered with a thin layer of sweat, was moist and slightly cool.

Du Zhinian let Shen Guiwan lean on him, and when he heard Shen Guiwan's slightly heavy breathing, he touched his face worriedly: "Wanwan?"

"Motion sickness, it's uncomfortable." Shen Guiwan buried his face in his clothes, his voice was suppressed and dull.

Du Zhinian picked him up, "Let's go up first, the garage is stuffy."

The timing of their return was not coincidental. When the elevator went up to the first floor, a few people came in. When the elevator closed, the keys scattered and lit up four different floors.

The elevator stopped three times. When it opened for the last time, Du Zhinian walked out of the elevator with Shen Guiwan in his arms. Shen Guiwan's back was already wet with cold sweat.

Du Zhinian helped him stand by the window at the end of the corridor to breathe. The wind blew up Shen Guiwan's hair that was wet from sweat on his face, and the sticky ends of his hair slowly fell apart in the cold wind.

Shen Guiwan blew on it for a while, and waited until the discomfort in his stomach subsided before slowly straightening up by the window, but a gust of cold wind blowing in front of him made him shiver again.

He turned his head and got into Du Zhinian's arms to keep warm, resting his chin on Du Zhinian's shoulder, "It's so cold, let's go home."

The chill on Shen Guiwan's body came through through his clothes, but Du Zhinian didn't think it was cold, he hugged Shen Guiwan with his arms around his waist, and staggered back to his apartment while maintaining the hugging posture.

Shen Guiwan rested on the sofa for a while, and got up again to make dinner when it was time to eat.

He was motion sick and had no appetite, so he only made Du Zhinian's portion for dinner, boiled the dumplings that had been frozen in the refrigerator before, and made himself a small pot of ginger cola.

After dinner, Du Zhinian cleaned up the kitchen and dining table, and was about to wash the clothes the two of them had changed, but he took out the bank card that Wen Qiongsai had given him from his coat pocket.

Holding the bank card, he asked Shen Guiwan who just came out of the bathroom after taking a shower: "Wanwan, do you think that what I said to her today is too much?"

Sometimes Du Zhinian felt that it was pitiful for his mother to marry a man like Du Hengyu. She always put on the airs of a noble lady and turned a blind eye to her husband's cheating, but sometimes he didn't understand why she treated him like that.

He obviously did nothing, but was forced to face his parents' deformed feelings.

Their indifference and meanness accompanied Du Zhinian's entire childhood and youth like an inescapable shadow. Now that he lives alone, he treats them with the same attitude in turn, completely replicating their behavior back then.

Du Zhinian would often regret and feel guilty, especially when he quarreled with Wen Qiong in front of Shen Guiwan, that feeling became even stronger.

He didn't know how he should explain to Shen Guiwan, saying any more at this time seemed like an attempt to cover up his arguments.

Shen Guiwan said: "You must have your reasons for saying that, but if you regret it now, don't say that next time."

He understands everything, just doesn't say anything.

Du Zhinian pulled out an embarrassed smile, "I don't know how to get along with her. I wasn't close when I was a child, and it's hard to open up to her now."

"I want something other than money, but she never gave it to me, and now I won't think about it anymore."

He threw the bank card on the coffee table, "Wanwan, is it hard for me to speak?"

"Sometimes." Shen Guiwan hugged Du Zhinian's waist from behind, "Change it, Du Zhinian."

Shen Guiwan, who had just taken a bath, exuded the warm fragrance of gardenias all over his body, and the hands around his waist were soaked red from the hot water, and the little movement of rubbing his back lightly pierced Du Zhinian's heart.

He shook Shen Guiwan's hand, "Okay, I'll listen to you."

Shen Guiwan was not feeling well, so Du Zhinian went to bed with him early after cleaning up the house.

I thought I could spend the weekend night quietly, but before going to bed, Du Zhinian received another call from Fa Xiao.

The other party seemed to be howling at first glance, Du Zhinian listened for a long time before he understood that he was asking himself about taking Shen Guiwan home.

Du Zhinian helped Shen Guiwan cover the quilt, walked to the study with his hands on his phone, and said in a low voice, "Straighten your tongue in the middle of the night before talking."

Fa Xiaojing for a while, then asked vaguely: "Old Du, are you really with that... the person we mentioned last time we drank?"

Du Zhinian sat on the armchair in the study room, his eyes fell on the carpet where Gui Wan often sat under the bookshelf, "Who did you listen to?"

"Your second uncle with a big mouth who loves to gossip told my cousin, and he told my parents when he came back, and then I found out." Fa Xiao didn't hide it, and sold out all his relatives and elders.

This answer was beyond Du Zhinian's expectations. After all, if Du Hengyu hadn't kept suppressing him before, his two uncles would have already exposed his liking for men.

But Fa Xiao knows, and the others are coming soon.

Du Zhinian laughed again after thinking about it, "We are together, why?"

"... Fuck!" Fa Xiao burst out a foul word.

"The last time you drank, you said that the last one you saw would be him!"

Du Zhinian sometimes felt that his little intuition was so accurate that it would be a pity not to be a private detective.

"Are you so curious about my wife?" He smiled, but his voice was a little colder.

Fa Xiao lost his voice in an instant, and it took him a long time to ask cautiously: "Then can you bring someone out to have a meal together?"

Du Zhinian refused without even thinking about it: "No, he is afraid of life."

Shen Guiwan had been running outside all day, and he couldn't even summon up the energy to talk to himself, so Du Zhinian didn't want to bother him anymore.

Moreover, this person who publishes novels is just a friend of wine and meat. It is not necessary to introduce his love partner to his best friend, and he himself does not have such a friend.

What's more, this person was still thinking about Shen Guiwan before, even though he was the same at the time, but now that he and Shen Guiwan are together, all possibilities must be eliminated from the root.

Du Zhinian warned with a smile: "I will marry him, and I have already brought them home to show them. You should also keep your mouth shut and don't mess around behind your back."

It's just that when the time comes to get married, he and Shen Guiwan may not be able to get the best man together.

Faxiao's strange cry came from the phone, constantly accusing Du Zhinian of favoring sex over friends.

"I'm going to sleep with him." Du Zhinian didn't bother to talk to him, and cut off the phone directly.

Du Zhinian turned on Do Not Disturb on his phone, but when he walked to the door of the bedroom, he saw Shen Guiwan sitting on the bed.

"Wake you up?"

Shen Guiwan shook his head, clutching his stomach and curling up into a ball again.

He frowned, Du Zhinian saw his heart skip a beat, and hurriedly sat over and hugged him, "What's wrong? Stomach upset?"

Shen Guiwan leaned against Du Zhinian's arms with eyes closed, and hummed a few times, "It's a little bloated."

Du Zhinian felt through the pajamas for a while, then reached in to help him cover his stomach, "Does it hurt?"

Shen Guiwan didn't speak, just shook his head.

Du Zhinian recalled what Shen Guiwan had eaten today, coaxed him to ask a few more questions, and finally said: "It should be indigestion, sit down for a while, and take medicine if you still feel uncomfortable."

He held Shen Guiwan's stomach, and Shen Guiwan kept frowning, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

Indigestion is not a big problem, but Du Zhinian just can't see Shen Guiwan suffering, "Wanwan, don't you really need to go to the hospital for a checkup?"

"I don't want to go." Shen Guiwan muttered softly.

Du Zhinian sighed helplessly, and Shen Guiwan changed positions in his arms again, "Du Zhinian, I'm sleepy."

Shen Guiwan was uncomfortable lying down, Du Zhinian let him lean on his body, and pulled out the blanket to cover his exposed back.

Du Zhinian carefully wrapped Shen Guiwan in the blanket, making sure that no finger was exposed, then patted him on the back, "Go to sleep."

Du Zhinian slept with Shen Guiwan in a daze for a while, and didn't lie down with his arms around him until the middle of the night.

He thought it was a minor ailment, but when he was having breakfast the next day, Shen Guiwan started to feel sick again.

He couldn't eat, so Du Zhinian soaked a cup of warm honey water and stuffed it into his hand, "I'll go to the hospital in the morning, and I'll start my annual leave in the afternoon. If you still feel uncomfortable, call me, and I'll come back and pick you up to the hospital."

Shen Guiwan nodded warmly while holding the honey water.

Du Zhinian stared at him as he finished drinking the honey water, wrote a note and pasted it on the refrigerator, and before leaving, he turned back and repeatedly instructed him several times, only to get Shen Guiwan's affirmative answer before he hurried out.

Listening to the sound of the apartment door closing, Shen Guiwan lay down by the window and looked downstairs.

It wasn't until Du Zhinian's car drove out of the gate that he returned to the kitchen and tore off the note on the refrigerator, returned to the bedroom with a refilled cup of warm water, finished taking the medicine according to the dosage written on the note, and rolled up again. The quilt lay back on the bed to catch up on sleep.
