The Son of Light of the Snake House
Chapter 232 Childhood
Harry and Draco slipped out at some point, leaving only Viktor who went and returned.
"Where is the person?" He thought for a while, and leaned over to ask Cedric.
"Who?" Cedric took a glass of butterbeer in his hand and turned around to pass it to Qiu Zhang.
"It's Harry Potter and another student of yours." Viktor said with an innocent expression.
"..." Cedric patted him on the shoulder: "Don't worry about it, brother, maybe they just went for a walk? Now it's a dance, you should focus on your partner."
Viktor thought about it too, turned to look for Hermione, but couldn't find it, then turned back and asked Cedric, "Have you seen Hermione?"
Cedric smiled helplessly: "If you don't know, you can try to invite other ladies—" He pointed to the side: "I think that one is pretty good."
The girl he pointed at seemed to have sensed something, and turned her head lightly, the flickering candlelight was reflected in the bottom of her golden eyes, and the lace hem of the black skirt was gently swaying.
She looked at Viktor, a smile slowly appeared on her delicate cheeks.
...............
Harry and Draco were drinking too much butterbeer, and whoever was the first to suggest a stroll outside. So the two wiped away their tears, got up and left the table while Viktor went to get a drink.
They sidled round the dance floor and slipped out the door like thieves into the hall. The front door stood wide open, and the fairy lights in the rose garden flickered as they descended the steps.Surrounded by low bushes, ornate winding paths and huge stone statues.Harry could hear the splashing of water, like a fountain, and occasionally saw people sitting on carved benches. He and Draco followed a winding path among rose bushes.
It's very beautiful here, like a princess' castle - thinking of the princess, Harry wanted to cry again, he sighed, walked two steps forward with his shoulders slumped, and was stopped by Draco.
"What?" Harry raised his head slightly, and Draco covered his mouth.
"Hush—" he said.
Harry watched vaguely, and then heard a familiar voice in his ears.
"...I don't understand why there is such a fuss, Igor." It was Professor Snape's voice.
"Severus, you can't pretend this didn't happen!" Karkaroff's voice sounded frightened and hoarse, as if he was afraid of being heard, "It has become more and more obvious over the months. I'm very worried right now, I can't deny—"
"Run away, then," said Snape's voice impatiently, snorting heavily reminiscent of a great dragon's breath: "Run away—I'll excuse you. But I Wanted to stay at Hogwarts—”
Snape and Karkaroff turned a corner. With his wand in hand, Snape blasted the rosebush away.He had a stern face, an ugly expression. There were screams from many flowers, and several dark figures jumped out from inside.
"Ten points from Ravenclaw, Fawcett!" said Snape fiercely--a girl ran past him. "Ten points from Hufflepuff, Stebbins!" Another boy chased after him. The girl left.
"And you two - what are you doing?" he asked after catching a glimpse of the strange combination of Harry and Draco standing on the path ahead.Harry noticed that Karkaroff looked a little panicked when he saw them standing there. He reached uneasily for his goatee, then wrapped it around his fingers again.
"By chance, Professor." Draco replied calmly, "I was just too bored in the auditorium, and this Mr. Potter—probably because he was abandoned by his dance partner."
"Hey!" Harry protested, the two of them obviously came out for some unspeakable reasons, besides, talking about the partner, didn't he get abandoned by his partner first?
But Professor Snape unexpectedly accepted the answer, and he nodded. "Go back to the dormitory if you have nothing to do."
"Of course, Professor."
"Oh, and you, Potter—" Professor Snape had a mocking smile on his face, "hurt by love, huh? Ten points from Gryffindor for your out-of-date hormones."
Harry held back because he saw Draco's expression contort for a split second when Professor Snape said "wounded by love".That was enough to keep him happy for a while.
"Okay, let's go for a walk." Professor Snape said, striding past them, his long black robe fluttering behind him.Karkaroff hurried away after Snape.Harry and Draco continued down the path.
Harry's mind had shifted, he was currently thinking about why Karkaroff and Snape started calling each other by Christian names when, and he kind of wanted to ask Draco, but Draco didn't seem to want to discuss that.
He just strode forward blindly, and they came to a large stone reindeer. They passed the stone deer and saw a tall fountain splashing and shining.Until two very tall figures stood in front of him.
This time it was Harry who was quicker to react. He took Draco with one hand and dragged him into the deeper shadows behind the reindeer.
"As soon as I saw you, I knew it in my heart." He said in a very strange hoarse voice.
"What do you understand, Hagrid?" Madame Maxime asked, with a whooping sound in her deep voice.
It's over, thought Harry, he really didn't want to hear about this - this Hagrid's love affair, and Hagrid wouldn't be happy about it.He tugged on Ladrako's robes, trying to lead him back the way he had come.
Draco slapped his hands away and pointed to the grass flanking the two of them.
Looking closer, Harry saw Fleur Delacour and Roger Davies hiding in a nearby rose bush.Draco whispered, "I can't go back, it's blocked."
But Harry really didn't want to hear it, so he had to force himself to be interested in a beetle crawling on the back of a reindeer, but the beetle wasn't that interesting, and Hagrid's next words still got into his ears.
"I see...understand that you are the same as me...is it your mother or your father?"
"I - I don't know what you mean, Hagrid..."
"It was my mother," said Hagrid softly. "She was one of the few left in England. Of course, I don't remember much about her... She left, you know. About three years old She didn't look like a mother, to be honest. Well...they weren't motherly in their nature, were they? Don't know what happened to her...as far as I know, probably dead..."
Madame Maxime said nothing.Harry couldn't help looking away from the beetle, looking over the tips of the reindeer's antlers, listening... He had never heard Hagrid talk about his childhood before.
The author has something to say:
Draco: I came for a walk, I met Potter by chance.
Severus: Laughing to death, Potter is hurt by love, 10 points will be deducted.
Draco: Hahaha, ha... ha... woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
