Chapter 16 Colored Birds

Ji Chi froze for a moment, took a quick step back, leaned against the entrance of the rattan house, and looked at Yu Yu.

Yu Yu was staring at him for a moment.

He swallowed, and looked down at the hand that was still holding his wrist.

Ji Chi swept down his gaze, paused, and let go of his hand.

Yu Yu's eyes moved with his right hand, until Ji Chi's hand was hanging by his side and stopped moving. Then he looked back, looked up, looked at Ji Chi for a while, turned around and jumped down the tree.

Ji Chi looked down at his hands, rubbed them, put them down, walked to the wooden frame, took out the red-haired rabbit, tidied it up, put some salt on it, cut it into pieces before putting it back in in wooden frame.

Although it was past noon, the sunlight coming in from between the leaves above his head was still strong, Ji Chi wiped the sweat from his forehead, and bent down into the rattan house.

After lying down, he turned over to face the piece of fur that Yu Yu had been lying on, his eyes were fixed on something, his eyes were empty, and his mind was blank.

He bit his teeth, closed his eyes, and fell asleep in a daze within a few breaths.

I don't know how long I slept, but it was dark when I woke up.The meat in the wooden frame has been dried and shrunk to only a handful. Ji Chi wrapped it with leaves, put it in a fruit shell, and put it in the innermost corner of the rattan house.

Taking a bow and arrow, blocking the entrance of the rattan house, Ji Chi got off the tree and walked towards the river.

There were more than a dozen people walking back and forth by the river, some men and some women. Ji Chi didn't look carefully, but went to the upper reaches of the river, squatted down, and drank water from the fruit shells he picked in the field.

When he stood up, he saw three men approaching him from the corner of his eye.

Ji Chi paused, and as soon as he moved, they had already rushed to his side, and one of them blocked his way, and the other two went around to the left and right rear respectively, blocking the escape route.

They stared at him with naked eyes, and there was a ruthlessness in the playful expressions on their faces, and they exuded wild ferocity, as if Ji Chi had become their inevitable prey.

Ji Chi recalled the scene when he first met Yu Wu, at that time he was no different from these three people.Looking at the sticks in their hands, with stones tied to them like spears, he was almost certain that these three people were not members of Yu Wu's tribe.

The man blocking his way was wearing a grass skirt around his waist, and his body was as tall, strong and muscular as those of the foreigners.

He looked straight at Ji Chi from between the hanging hair, raised the spear in his hand and pointed at him, and shouted at him with a rough and hoarse voice, just as he finished speaking, there was a rattling sound from behind man laughing.

Some of the people around stopped to look at them, and some did their own thing as if they didn't see it.

Ji Chi clenched his fist and let it go.If he was fast and accurate enough, he might be able to quickly shoot the man in front of him to death with the bow and arrow in his hand, and then be attacked by the two people behind him without any suspense.Or when they put away their playful attitude and the three of them attacked him together, he didn't mind exposing the jackknife in his pocket and gave them a go.

If it was the latter, Ji Chi glanced at the constantly flowing river, and he might still have a chance to jump into the river before they could react.

Ji Chi stared at the man in front of him for a moment, listened carefully to the movement behind him, and tried to move his footsteps. Immediately, the man snorted a strange sound, his eyeballs moved up and down flexibly, and the cat frowned. The waist is in an attacking posture.

Ji Chi didn't move again. He began to carefully observe the changing expression on the man's face, in case he suddenly attacked. As for the two people in the back, he had no time to take care of them, so he could only adjust accordingly.

Now such a scene made him realize an important or not important issue, that is his language and the language here.

If he can communicate with the people here, maybe he can save a lot of unnecessary trouble.Since he came here, he has never considered the issue of communicating with them, and it is also because he still has some resistance in his heart, unwilling to be assimilated like this, and finally lost his own language.

Since this is an inevitable thing and another guarantee for his survival here, he will choose to further integrate into their lives without hesitation.

The man on the opposite side didn't directly attack him, but slowly approached with the other two, as if afraid of him running away, stooping step by step, watching the posture, as long as Ji Chi made a move, they would immediately pounce on him.

With the spear pointing at him in front, and the soundless footsteps behind him, Ji Chi had nowhere to go.

He couldn't help tightening the bow and arrow in his hand, moved his other hand, slowly approached the pocket of his trousers, and then inserted it quietly.

Before he could make any movement, a person stood a few steps away.

Ji Chi paused for a moment with the knife in his hand, and looked at it distractedly.

It was the man who threw stones at him, maybe he came to dissuade him, because the three men around him had stopped attacking and all looked at him.

Soon, the two parties began to discuss.

While their attention was not on him, Ji Chi quickly took out his jackknife and tried to move towards the river.

What started as a discussion turned into a heated argument.Ji Chi didn't know what they were talking about, but he could tell that the man was helping him.

He carefully observed the expressions on their faces, remembered what they said, and matched them one by one, judging whether the content of their conversation was related to him.

Before the debate came to any conclusion, there was a sudden cry of high-pitched birds above the grass. As soon as the fairy in the cave arrived, all the sounds stopped abruptly, and everyone by the river raised their heads to look at the source of the sound.

It was a bird with colorful feathers all over its body. It was as big as an adult man, with a pointed beak and round head, and a peacock-like tail. The feathers on it were long and colorful. It hovered high and low above the grass for a while, as if showing off or looking for food.

After a moment of silence, the crowd by the river dispersed, some panicked and some excited.

After regaining consciousness, the women took their children and ran to the nearby forest, turning their heads from time to time on the way, with panic and attachment in their eyes. The remaining men picked up stones one after another, and started throwing stones at the giant bird while chasing after it.

There was no one around Ji Chi, and the temptation of colorful birds was obviously greater than him. They had lost interest in him as early as after the bird chirped.

He clenched his fist and opened it again, his palm was a little sticky.

The colorful giant bird was still hovering up and down above the grass, as if playing tricks on the men who were desperately attacking it.

After a long toss to no avail, the angry men began to chase even more fiercely. As the colorful bird swooped down again, a stone thrown by a man finally hit the bird hard, and then, several colorful feathers dangled down from above.

Immediately there was cheers on the grass.

The giant bird that lost its feathers was also angry, and with a sharp bird cry, it began to accurately and quickly attack those men who only had stones in their hands.
