Chapter 11 Documentaries and Dreams

The Roaring Commando was accompanied by reporters in several operations. They took documentaries of the commando’s actions. The role probably aside from leaving those precious memories is to encourage other fighters to fight as hard as Captain America and his friends.

In the evening, the documentary is screened in the Strategic Science Division.Because he wanted to see Bucky on the front line, Perry sneaked in after Peggy, and naturally sat on her left.

But when she sat down, she realized that Colonel Phillips was sitting on Peggy's right.Colonel Phillips was looking at her with a "why are you here" expression at this moment.

Perry glanced at Peggy guiltily, and she immediately continued——

"You are a military doctor, but as Dr. Erskine's most useless first assistant, you are also in the establishment of the Strategic Science Department." Paige said.

Colonel Phillips turned his head away, and Perry breathed a sigh of relief.

She felt that she should have known earlier that Margaret was definitely not a person who would violate discipline. When I told myself at the beginning, there was absolutely no meaning in my words that I wanted to be a thief.

So, why did Perry even forget that he was in the establishment?Could it be that the alcohol was poured into the brain?

The black-and-white documentary started when Perry was thinking wildly, and she finally knew that the bearded soldier who always wore a yarmulke was called Dugan. The team specializes in blasting, nicknamed Dum.

Is Bucky the best shooter called Bucky because his blue eyes sparkle like Bambi when he takes aim?

But he seems to have been called Bucky before joining the army.

The camera finally turned from the rest of the team to Steve and Bucky, and Perry almost jumped up in excitement.

There's a map on the hood of the jeep, and Steve and Bucky are researching something, neither of them looking at the camera.

Captain America is the center of attention, so Bucky is only half profiled at the edge of the screen.

But for Perry, that's good enough.

For a month, two months or more, Perry won't see him, so even knowing that one of Bucky's fingers will appear on the screen, she won't be able to sleep.

But that's not enough, not nearly enough.

Steve on the screen suddenly opened his pocket watch to check the time, and the camera was also zoomed in for a close-up of the pocket watch.

On the cover of the pocket watch was a photo of Peggy's military uniform. In the photo, she was so beautiful that even the slightly raised corners of her mouth looked so charming.

Colonel Phillips gave Peggy a teasing look, and Peggy looked back with a hint of embarrassment.

But fortunately, the shot quickly turned into a panorama, still showing the map on the hood of the jeep, and Steve and Bucky studying hard.

Perry whispered in Margaret's ear, "It's a great way to think of you whenever you look at the time—"

Perry's words stopped abruptly, because the next moment, she saw Bucky holding a dagger at the very edge of the screen.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say that he was turning the knife.

Even though it was black and white and the knife was spinning, Perry could still accurately determine that the knife was the one he had given him.

After all, such a large gemstone on the handle is too conspicuous.

The dagger turned into a silver ball in Bucky's hand, skillfully and quickly—he must be familiar with that dagger, Perry thought.

Perry regrets that he wasn't as smart as Margaret to send a picture of himself to the other party, but even so, Bucky will still carry something from Perry. And whenever, wherever, as long as he saw the Lancaster dagger, he would think of himself.

So Perry no longer regrets, the dagger of the Lancaster family is the best thing she can give him.

When the war is over and everyone is celebrating a great victory, Perry will tell him a little secret of his own.

She'd say—Bucky, I knew even before I first saw you that we were going to be together.

No matter when, no matter where.

The war is over.

The Confederates were victorious.

Perry was administering medicine to wounded soldiers when the news came, even with her military tie still untucked into her clothes. When she heard the news, her hands trembled, and all the alcohol in the bottle was poured down.

Although the poor soldier was in terrible pain, he was still very excited.

When Perry stepped out of the medical tent, everyone cheered, and the helmet and hat were almost thrown into the sky.

Back home in London in a blink of an eye, Perry and Margaret ate all their favorite restaurants and bought a lot of things in the store.

This night, Perry wore a red dress, the delicate cut perfectly set off her slender waist. She used that Danqi lipstick, and put on the pair of high heels that she was reluctant to wear all the time.

She is going on a date.

"Sorry, I'm late."

Perry walked over and took his arm.

"To see such a beautiful you, it's okay to be late until the end of the movie."

Bucky planted a kiss on Perry's cheek, his blue eyes sparkling as he stood up.

Perry lowered his head and found that he had already held a large bouquet of bright roses in his hand.

Tonight's movie is about love during war. The story takes place in a front-line barracks. The protagonists are soldiers from the United States and nurses from the United Kingdom.

"Perry, does this story resemble ours?"

When the movie came to the scene—the kind little nurse was treating the soldier's wound gently, and the soldier was already quietly moved, Perry took a look at him.

"As far as the heroine's gentle approach is concerned, what do you think?"

Bucky said nothing, but kissed Perry on the cheek again.

It seemed that there were a lot of people in this scene, but in the next second it seemed that there was no one at all.The movie is long and tedious, and Perry doesn't remember what happened to them until the end.

When did the little nurse like the soldier? How did they meet?Did the soldier survive in the end?Did they end up together? What is the ending?

Perry didn't remember any of them, and didn't understand any of them.

That night, Perry's mind was befuddled. The only thing she remembered was that she was holding Bucky's arm, and the two of them had walked so long and so far down the street.

The lights on the recruiting billboards have not been repaired for a long time, and every time they flash, they seem to be dying.

It was a dark night, with few stars in the sky, and the moon was nowhere to be seen.Bucky babbled a lot with Perry, but she couldn't catch a word.

"Did I just drink?" Perry asked.

Bucky ruffled her hair, his lips parted, but Perry still couldn't hear.

"If I'm drunk, Bucky. Take me to your house." Perry slumped lazily in his arms, twirling a finger around the button of his military uniform. "Sergeant Barnes, have you figured out when to propose to Dr. Carter?"

He smiled even more happily, and Bucky held Perry's shoulders and whispered in her ear——

"Now."

The ring lay quietly in the red velvet box, with a small diamond inlaid on it. The design was simple but beautiful.

He knelt on the street on one knee, his eyes were like a deep blue sea.

Snowing.

Large flakes of snow fell from the sky, covering the streets and falling on their hair.

"We'll stay together until our hair turns gray,"

"Until Bucky Barnes missed the mark, but Perry Carter learned how to treat the wound gently."

"That's been a long time." Perry laughed, reaching out to catch a snowflake.Watching the white and soft snowflakes melt in the palm of your hand little by little.

"Bucky, let's plant red roses around our house from now on. She's good enough to survive the winter when it's minus 25 degrees. And if I want, I can let her bloom in the winter. Blooming in the snow A bunch of roses...beautiful to think about. Isn't it Bucky? Bucky..."

no respond.

Perry looked up blankly, only to find that the street was already empty.

The lights on the recruiting billboards were completely dimmed, and the world was plunged into darkness.

Perry took a step forward cautiously, the coolness of the snow still remained on his fingertips.

"Bucky...? Where are you?"

"I'm scared of... Bucky."

In the endless silence, Perry frowned. She snapped her fingers and held up a flame in her right hand, but she couldn't see anything.

For a moment, Perry seemed to have returned to the Tower of London where she was trapped as a child.Alone, cold, without light.

"Bucky Barnes!"

She called out his name, but there was no answer.

He finally disappeared into a vast expanse of whiteness. And Perry couldn't see it.

She extinguished the flame at her fingertips and sat curled up on the ground. She hugged her legs like she did all those years ago, no matter what happened or nothing happened, she was going to be alone.

Bucky

How did I...lose you

Perry opened his eyes.

Fortunately it was a dream.

It was already dawn, and Perry yawned and opened the curtain of the medical tent, only to find that it was a mess outside.

Suddenly there was an inexplicable palpitation.

She suddenly remembered that the most basic ability of a witch is perception. If it is projected in a dream, it is prophecy...

The towel in Perry's hand fell to the floor, and she threw back the curtain and ran out.

She saw members of the Howling Commandos gathered around a jeep, looking as if they had just returned. She saw Duggan, Jones, Steve...

But where is Bucky?

For a moment, Perry's tears began to flow uncontrollably. She hasn't heard a result yet, or maybe she has known it for a long time, but she won't accept it at all.

But the body reacts faster than thoughts.

"Steve Rogers, where's Bucky?" Perry stood in front of him, while Margaret beside him didn't speak.

"I'm sorry... I couldn't catch him... Bucky, he, he fell off the train..."

A simple sentence, Steve said intermittently for a long time.

"So, he's dead?"

"……I'm very sorry……"

In a deep cry, she squeezed out "Got it", and then walked to the medical wing without looking back.

Margaret called her name, but she said that Captain America needed comfort more than herself.

Perry needs no consolation.

What comfort did she need?

I am still standing here completely, but what about Bucky?

27 years, so short.

So who is going to comfort him?

Bucky

Margaret Lancaster once told me that if a problem is difficult to solve, sleep is enough.

But the war is not over yet, and I haven't watched that movie yet, so I can't sleep yet.

I can't sleep yet, Bucky.

Raising the curtain, Perry walked in.The next second, she fell down beside the operating table, alcohol spilled all over the floor, emitting a pungent smell.

We haven't planted a yard full of roses yet, but I'll get them done.As long as I think about it, even Lin Dong and the others will be open.

Can you imagine.

After the war we had a yard full of roses. The flowers that bloom in the cold winter must be beautiful.

But Bucky, you said you'd be back before England was in full bloom.

But when is that.

From harsh winter to warm spring, how long is it?

my dear bucky

Will you really, ever come back.
