Chapter 7
"My God!"
Just as I felt something under my feet, a girl's scream rang in my ears.I lifted my foot and found that it was a pair of glasses, and the left lens was cracked by me.
I picked it up, turned my gaze to the little girl with twin ponytails, and handed it over: "Is this yours? I'm sorry, I didn't mean it..."
She didn't speak, just took it in a daze, stared at the broken lens, the circles of her eyes slowly turned red, and she even started crying softly.
"I'm sorry—I'll try—" I anxiously wanted to see if my ability could help her fix her glasses, but I found that I couldn't.I took out the spellbook I just bought from my bag, and comforted me, "Okay, okay...don't cry, I'll see if I can find a way...Look, I found it!"
She stopped crying a little bit and looked at me, her eyes were still red.I took out my wand and pointed at her glasses: "Restored as before!"
no response.
So she cried again.
"Oh, what should I do?" I was even more anxious.
"Restored as before!"
The cracks disappeared and her glasses looked brand new again.I looked up, and found a girl with a serious face, gracefully retracting her wand, as light as a cat.
"Thank you." I said.
The crying little girl finally stopped, put on her glasses, and watched us carefully.
"Are you freshmen at Hogwarts?" The girl asked us with a scrutinizing look.
I nodded.
"Okay." She was about to pass us.
"May I ask—what's your name?" I stopped her.
She turned her head, her expression relaxed a little.
"Minerva McGonagall, fifth year."
"My name is Ashley Field, nice to meet you."
"Me too."
I smiled at her, she just nodded politely and left without expression.
The little girl with twin ponytails kept staring at us.
"What about you? What's your name?" I turned my head and asked her again.
"Myrtle Warren." Her voice was weak and cautious.
"I'm really sorry just now—" I apologized to her again.
She shook her head and said nothing.
"Then I'm off, see you at Hogwarts, Myrtle."
She nodded silently.
September [-]st.
When I packed my things and went to the hall to say goodbye to Mrs. Cole, I realized that Riddle had left first.
I had to go to King's Cross station alone, standing at a loss by the wall between platforms [-] and [-].
"Are you a freshman going to Hogwarts too?" A rich voice came from above my head.
"Oh, yes, yes." I answered before looking up.
"Me too. I heard from others that it's enough to just bump into it." He stroked the thick hair on the back of his head honestly.I'd never seen anyone my age grow this tall - he was taller than any adult, more of a giant.
"Uh - hit, hit it?" I looked at the hard wall hesitantly.
"Yes. I'll try it first—bye." He staggered past pushing the cart, and I watched in amazement as his huge body disappeared into the wall.I shook my head, reminding myself it wasn't a hallucination.
I almost rushed over with my eyes closed.
A dark red steam locomotive was parked beside the platform crowded with passengers.
I got in the car, and the first few cars were already full of students. Some of them leaned out of the window to talk to their families, and some were joking and joking in their seats.
I saw Riddle sitting alone in the box near the rear of the car.I gently opened the door of the box and asked, "Can I sit here?"
Riddle stared at me for a few seconds, as if he was considering the feasibility of this simple matter.Fortunately, he finally agreed.
"can."
I smiled lightly and sat across from him, by the window.
After a while, he stood up and took the initiative to sit next to me under my unexpected gaze. Then, a mature-looking blond boy opened the door and walked in, his gray-blue eyes swept over me with domineering arrogance: "Who are you?"
"Ashley Field."
As soon as I finished speaking, he said "Oh" and then turned his head: "Your little girlfriend, Riddle?"
Before he finished speaking, he abruptly retracted his words, and the last pronunciation was short and funny.
Riddle's face darkened for a moment, he glanced at him coldly, and soon returned to normal, with a very patient and calm tone: "No."
Another boy about Riddle's age walked in.His eyes just stayed on my face for a second, and he sat quietly across from me without asking any questions.
Then two people came in one after another, filling up the box.
I found out that everyone knew Riddle, and was surprised by my presence. But I didn't say a word, they stopped paying attention to me, and I became an air man leaning against the window quietly.
After a while I could probably make out their names from their conversation. The blond boy was called Abraxas Malfoy, and he couldn't hide the arrogance in his tone when he spoke: "...There will be another batch of mudbloods coming in. We have plenty to do, don't we?"
"When can we change this rubbish system, things that have something to do with Muggles..."
"...I don't know if Kadwo learned a lesson last time—"
"Perhaps you can be quieter like Nott, Lestrange." Malfoy interrupted Claire Lestrange, giving me an uncomfortable look as if my presence made them helpless Normal communication.
Lestrange was not angry, but carefully looked at Riddle's face, and adjusted a relaxed posture after noticing anything unusual.
After getting off the train, I left Riddle and the others, and followed the first-year students to a castle in a small boat.
This is probably Hogwarts.
"Hi! What a coincidence, did we meet on the platform?"
I look up.His height was unusually abrupt in the crowd, and he was talking to me with his head down at the moment.Although I knew he had controlled the volume, the majestic voice still attracted people around to look at him.
I deliberately lowered my voice in embarrassment, and put my index finger to my mouth to signal him to stop talking: "Yes..."
So his voice became a little softer, and he bent slightly: "My name is Rubeus Hagrid."
"Ashley Field." I desperately wished he would stop, but he obviously didn't realize it.
"You are the first one I know here, and no one else wants to talk to me yet."
I was stunned, and the discomfort was inexplicably relieved a lot.
"Which house do you want to go to, Ashley?"
I glanced in Riddle's direction: "I don't know. Maybe Slytherin."
He narrowed his eyes, straightened up, seemed surprised, didn't know what to say: "Slytherin... oh, Slytherin. Not bad, is it?" He shut his mouth suddenly.
The sorting ceremony has begun.
Those who were pointed out stepped forward to put on the dirty sorting hat one by one, and went to the college they were supposed to go to.
"Myrtle Warren!"
My attention was drawn to the familiar name.
"Ravenclaw!"
……
It hit me right away.
I walked up anxiously.
"Hmm... Ravenclaw... or Hufflepuff... maybe Gryffindor isn't a good fit..." The Sorting Hat writhed over my head, hesitating.
I waited for a long time but didn't wait for it to pronounce my ideal name.
"Where's Slytherin?" I asked.
The Sorting Hat was silent for a few seconds, looking a bit unbelievable: "You want to go to Slytherin?"
"Yes."
"Well...but I still think..."
"You don't have to go to Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, do you?" My heart was beating uncomfortably, and my eyes swept across the group of strange faces, and finally met the pair of dark gray eyes on the Slytherin table. Looking at each other, it was not easy to feel a trace of peace of mind.
"Of course. In fact, I just choose the place for you that I think is the most suitable for you. It's you who can really make the decision. It's just that no one has had his own clear goal to refute my decision for a long time."
"Then I still want to go to Slytherin," I said.
"Have you considered?"
"Hmm." I was very decisive.
Its tone is no longer entangled, but a little cheerful: "It seems that you have some characteristics of Slytherin... I hope this is the right choice... Well, then-Slytherin!"
I was somewhat relieved and walked over to the Slytherin table.Several people who were in the same compartment before were all looking at me secretly.Riddle raised his eyebrows in surprise: "So long?"
"It asked me where I wanted to go." I answered truthfully.
Riddle turned his head, not knowing what he was thinking.
……
"Rubus Hagrid!"
"Gryffindor!"
"Orion Black!"
"Slytherin!"
……
After the banquet, we were led by the prefects to the Slytherin common room.
What I didn't expect was that the Slytherin lounge was underground, and the Gryffindors all went upstairs.
My roommate, who entered the dorm before me, is a tall, slightly muscular girl who is packing her suitcases.
I silently took out my luggage and packed it.
When I sat on the bed to rest, she also finished tidying up, stood there and looked me up and down, with a very blunt tone: "What's your name?"
"Ashley Field."
"I'm Crystal Burst. We're roommates from today on."
I nodded.
The atmosphere of silence lasted for a while.
"Why don't you talk?" She frowned, looking dissatisfied.
"say what?"
"Tsk." She curled her lips, stopped talking to me, turned off the light and lay down on the bed.
Early the next morning, I wandered in the corridor, worrying about not being able to find the Transfiguration classroom, but I didn't want to take the initiative to talk to those strange faces at all.
I saw a tall and familiar figure in front of me. After struggling for a long time, I finally decided to stop him: "Hello——Hai..." I'm not sure if I remember his name.
"Rubus Hagrid," he repeated his name kindly.
"Sorry—Hagrid. Do you know how to get to the Transfiguration room?"
He suddenly looked very happy: "Oh! Of course, of course. We have the same class, let's go, I know how to walk." He walked very fast, and I struggled to keep up.Before taking two steps, he looked back, as if looking for something.
"I'm here, Hagrid." I raised my head and waved at him, and he lowered his head belatedly, staring at me with big round eyes.
"Oh, you're here! Sorry, I didn't see it, I thought you weren't following."
"It's ok."
He continued to lead me along, chattering excitedly along the way.
"This is really a magical place, isn't it?...I checked a lot of information before coming here. To be honest, I can't believe that I will study here...Do you know who our professor of transformation is?"
"do not know."
He was very satisfied with my answer: "Don't know? It's Professor Dumbledore."
"Really? He was the one who informed me to come to school." My mood brightened.
"He's a very powerful wizard, and I don't think there's anyone else!" he said.
I nodded in agreement.
"Oh, that's right." He took out a small crumpled bag from his pocket and handed it to me. "Would you like to try this? Bibi multi-flavored beans, have you ever eaten?"
"No—thanks." I took it and pulled out a green bean.
"Neither did I—yours might be grassy."
I chewed it: "It tastes like honeydew melon."
We quickly walked to the door of the classroom, opened the door and walked in.We came too early, and there were only three or four people sitting in the classroom, whispering together.Dumbledore was already inside.
He smiled at us kindly.I sat in the front row.
"Hello, Ashley. Did you sleep well last night?"
"Very good, Professor."
His eyes fell on the bag in my hand: "Oh, it's Bibi's multi-flavored beans."
"Would you like one, professor?" I thought for a while, and handed the bag in his direction.
He took it from my hand, took out a brown bean, put it in his mouth and chewed it a few times, then suddenly coughed violently a few times, his face was not very good-looking: "Unlucky! It stinks."
"I just ate a green one - that's not bad." I try to fix it sheepishly, but he waves his hand, looking like he's never going to eat it again for the rest of his life.
After a while, the students came in one after another, and Dumbledore walked to the front, his face didn't calm down throughout the class.
Just as I felt something under my feet, a girl's scream rang in my ears.I lifted my foot and found that it was a pair of glasses, and the left lens was cracked by me.
