Chapter 49 Entering St. Mungo's
The next morning, Esther went to St. Mungo's again to find Mr. Peggy and showed him her report card.
"Very good, Miss Collins." Mr. Peggy was very satisfied with Esther's results. "Welcome to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries and Sickness. Your grades show that you are more suitable for the Department of Biological Injury or Spell Injury. What do you think?"
"I'm interested in every department, sir. Do you have any suggestions?" Esther replied politely.
"I suggest you go to the Department of Charms and Injuries. This is the department with the most patients, and you will get a lot of learning opportunities here." Mr. Peggy said.
"Okay, sir. I'm willing to go to the Spell Injury Department." Esther nodded affirmatively.
Mr. Peggy stood up and motioned to Esther, "Let's go then, I'll take you to see Mr. Beavis. He is one of the therapists in the Spell Injury Department. The ward he is in charge of just needs an intern therapy." Master. He has seen your potion before, and he is also very interested in you."
Esther followed Mr. Peggy up the stairs, and the portraits of the therapists on both sides looked at them and murmured softly. There are many wards on the fifth floor, and each ward is named after a person. They walked through the corridor outside the ward to a relatively inward location, and stopped outside Heloise Mintab's ward.
"Good morning, Renato." Peggy pushed open the door and said to a young and handsome blond wizard in a green robe with a smile.
"Good morning, Oswald." Bivis greeted politely. He was examining a patient with a pair of goat horns on his head.
"This is the new trainee therapist, Esther Collins, with good grades. I think she can be placed in your ward." Peggy introduced.
"Okay, I just need a helper." Bivis looked at Esther with a smile, and handed her the clipboard in his hand, "Can you help me take notes?"
Esther took the clipboard and looked at the half-written record on it, then nodded.
"I hope you have a pleasant cooperation." Peggy greeted and left the ward.
For the rest of the time, Bivis led Esther to record the recovery of the five patients in the ward.Mr. Chadwick has been in the ward for two weeks. He set himself on fire while experimenting with a spell, and a large area of skin was charred black. The little girl named Chada came in yesterday. She accidentally ate the magic cleaner that her mother put in the room, and she is still bubbling.Ms. Carona was bitten by a small leather bag someone gave her, but most of the wounds have healed and she can be discharged from the hospital at any time. But she insisted on not leaving until the scars were completely gone.Esther felt that the eyes she was looking at Beavis were very hot, and he doubted whether she would let his hand heal completely.Mr. Correll was the worst. He had been unconscious for three days, and his family couldn't tell what kind of spell he was under.
After finishing the recording, Bivis took Esther back to his office.A compartment has been added inside for Este's use.Bivis first adjusted the treatment plan for each patient based on the records.Tell Esther when and what medicine to give the patient.
After solving the patient's problem, Bivis briefly glanced at Esther's personal information, and asked her to go to her cubicle to change into the therapist's wizard robe, and officially started working.
Esther's heart skipped a beat as she looked at the green robes embroidered with a wand and bones crossed insignia. She quickly changed her clothes, and took the treatment plan handwritten by Bivis to the potion storage room to take out the prepared potion and distribute it.
When she came back, Beavis was in the office receiving new patients. Some patients with mild illness do not need to be hospitalized, but only need to be reviewed on time. The woman who was apparently in therapy was also one of Beavis' admirers.Esther felt that her wound only needed a healing spell, but she still insisted that Bivis personally boil some ointment for his skin.Said that he was performing in the Muggle world, and he could not leave scars on his body.
Bivis asked Esther to go to the pharmacy in the office to help him. After entering the room, he handed the crucible and silver knife to Esther, "You do it, just let me see your pharmaceutical level."
Esther raised her eyebrows, "If that lady finds out, she will be sad."
Beavis laughed heartily. "I really hope so, so she doesn't have to inflict little wounds on herself every week."
Esther shrugged, took out the medicinal materials from the medicine cabinet and concentrated on making the ointment.
Beavis was a caring mentor, which allowed Esther to quickly adapt to the work of a therapist. He will analyze the patient's condition for Esther in detail, and he will let her try her own ideas boldly. He never seemed to blame Esther, but instead tried to defend her when patients questioned her, like a big brother.
For the next week or so, Esther worked step by step in St. Mungo's during the day, and followed the Death Eaters' movements in bars or hidden alleys according to instructions after get off work.
The day before Hogwarts started school, Esther asked Beavis for leave before leaving get off work, saying that he had made an appointment for broom maintenance and could only come to work in the afternoon.Bivis graciously told Esther that he would do that part of the work for her, so she didn't have to worry.
When Esther arrived at Grimmauld Square at night, it was very lively inside.Mrs Weasley welcomed her with a warm hug.Esther walked into the dining room and looked at the banner hanging above the table: Warm congratulations to Ron and Hermione for being elected prefects.
"Oh, congratulations." Esther cast a quick glance at the sullen Harry, "I hope you don't get too bored listening to the head of the student body on the train."
"Esther has always been bitter about the student president. Because she was complained about, she was almost removed from the prefect position by Severus." Lupine said mercilessly.
"Will the prefect be removed?" Hermione looked nervous.
"No, unless you give the dean a headache. In fact, if that's the case, she won't choose you as a prefect." Esther poured himself a glass of juice.
"You're right, I've never been a prefect. Our headmaster said I wasn't good enough," said Tonks, shrugging.
Everyone laughed easily, and the Weasleys' youngest daughter, Ginny, asked Sirius if he was a prefect.Sirius gave a short, piercing smile and said, "No one would have chosen me as a prefect. I've spent so much time in detention with James. Lupine's a good boy, and he's got a badge."
"I suppose Dumbledore would have liked me to have some control over my good friend," said Lupine. "Needless to say, I failed miserably."
"Dumbledore may not succeed himself." Esther smiled at Lupine, and Sirius snorted forcefully.
The dinner was very sumptuous, and Esther felt that she hadn't eaten so much for a long time.Tonks enthusiastically inquires about Esther's mentor Beavis.
"Why, are you going to move on?" Esther teased.
"No! I just thought it was fun. I only have him in my heart, you know!" Tonks was glowing red from hair to neck.
"Then did you succeed? Where did you go? Holding hands? Dating? Kissing?" Esther asked enthusiastically.
"No, he never understood my intention." Tonks suddenly became listless.
"Could he not understand with such a delicate mind? He must be pretending to be confused." Esther mercilessly pierced Lupine's disguise, avenging his exposure of his dark history just now.
"You think I should be braver?" Tonks asked Est's opinion.
"I can't say that. If it were me, I would choose to maintain the status quo. If I force him away, the loss will not be worth the loss." Esther said, poking his own steak.Thinking of Snape's situation, he felt that he was not much better than Tonks.
The banquet is not over yet, Este is already a little sleepy. She hasn't had a good rest for a long time. She was about to ask Sirius if there was any room available.Suddenly, a sound was heard from upstairs.Esther ran up quickly and saw Mrs. Weasley huddled in a corner sobbing.Harry stood beside her, staring at his own body lying on the ground.
Probably a Boggart, Esther drew her wand and pointed at Harry's corpse, "Funny funny!" she uttered a spell.
The corpse began to contort, and the clothes turned black.Esther hurriedly used Occlumency, and the Boggart suddenly stopped half-changed.Esther swung his wand again, and the boggart disappeared in smoke.
Mrs. Weasley burst into tears, almost all of the Weasleys were in the Order, and Percy broke with the family again.Esther can understand her mood very well.Lupine and Sirius tried to comfort her and calm her down.Esther took out a bottle of palliative from her bag and handed it to her, she forced a smile and drank the potion in the bottle.
"Why are you afraid of black clothes? Don't you always wear black?" Tonks asked Esther in a low voice after Mrs. Weasley calmed down.
"Maybe I'm worried that black doesn't suit me." Esther said with a smirk.
Lupine shot her a meaningful look.Esther made an excuse to find a room and escaped.
Finally she found an empty room after going up two floors. She put herself on the bed, thinking about the Boggart just now.It is not the silver doe before, it has changed in just over two months.Does this mean that she has completely stopped worrying about Lily's position in Snape's heart? The new fear wasn't fully formed, but even Lupine could tell that the black clothes were Snape's usual wizard robes. What was she afraid of, the dead Snape, or the Snape who had completely turned into a Death Eater?Esther suddenly wondered what it would look like.
Esther didn't sleep much that night. Her recent schedule has drastically reduced her need for sleep. Moreover, the worries and the new environment last night made her not sleep well. She went downstairs and saw that the other rooms were still quiet. So she went to the pantry in the restaurant to find something for herself.
She took out the bread and was going to find some more jam.Suddenly, a rustling sound made her stop what she was doing. She was very familiar with this voice, it should belong to Voldemort again. She put the bread down and listened carefully.Slowly she walked out of the pantry following the voice, and fixed her gaze on a dark door in the opposite corner.
She was hesitating whether to open the door to have a look, when suddenly there was a sound of footsteps behind her.
"Oh, my God! You startled me, Esther. I didn't expect someone to wake up so early and not make a sound." Mrs. Weasley said, patting her chest.
Esther looked at Mrs. Weasley's thick dark circles and knew that she hadn't rested well either. "Sorry to scare you. I'm here to find something to eat." Esther smiled and said, "Do you want to cook? I can help."
"That would be great, can you cut the bread for me? I'll fry up some more bacon and sausages. I have to bring them some to eat on the train." Mrs. Weasley rolled up her sleeves and got to work.
Esther temporarily gave up on the idea of searching. Now Harry and the others are all there, once it launches an attack and hurts them, it will be troublesome. It's better to wait for them to send them away and come back to get them by themselves, anyway, this thing won't run away by itself.
The two worked hard for a long time, preparing enough breakfast for several people and sandwiches for six children to eat in the car.Sirius, Lupine came down from upstairs to help serve the table. When the meal was almost over, Moody and Tonks also came to Grimmauld Place one after another.Mr. Weasley is on the night shift outside the Department of Mysteries today, so he will be a little late.
But after the appointed time, Sturgis Podmore hadn't come yet.Moody paced the room impatiently, angrily yelling at Sturgis for disappearing for no reason for the second time this week, as unreliable as Mundungus. The sound woke Mrs. Black's portrait, and a series of shrill shouts filled the house.Suddenly something tumbled down the stairs, accompanied by the girl's scream and the Weasley twins yelling.
Esther went upstairs to look, and Ginny was covering her head with blood streaming from her fingers.Mrs Weasley cursed Fred and George loudly as she examined her wounds.Esther patted Molly on the shoulder, and mouthed to tell her to take Ginny back to her room to bandage.
Esther flicked her wand to stop Ginny's bleeding, and led her upstairs to her room.Entering the room, Esther cast a soundproofing charm to silence Mrs. Black's voice. She cleaned the blood from Ginny's forehead, applied ointment, and wrapped it in a magic bandage.
"The wound is not very deep, and it can be removed before getting out of the car. You don't need to wear a bandage to attend the school dinner." Esther handed her a bottle of scar-removing ointment that was frequently prepared recently, "If you are worried about leaving marks, you can wait Apply some of this before going to bed at night, as a beauty potion, there is no problem."
Ginny looked at the bottle with bright eyes, and carefully packed the glass bottle in the pocket of her robe. "Thank you," she said to Esther.
They walked out of the room, and Mrs. Black's screams came again in the ear.Tonks went out to investigate the situation first, and Esther quickly followed.
Grimmauld Place is very close to King's Cross station.Together with Lupine, Esther escorted the twins and Ginny.Listen to them arguing quietly along the way.
"I think it should be small profits but quick turnover, and the price should not be set too high."
"Do you think the price I said is expensive? We have to consider the cost. In the future, we will also rent stores and hire employees..."
"That's for later. Now we should let people know about our product."
Esther interrupted them, "Are you going to open a store? What are you selling?"
"We're planning a joke shop," Fred said.
"Sell some innocuous trinkets," echoed George.
"We welcome discerning investors to join us," Fred said.
"But don't tell our mother." George made a mischievous face.
Esther had often heard Leona talk about these two mischievous ghosts before, and knew that they were very talented in this regard.Esther, who has had the habit of investing since he was a child, was a little moved. She hasn't invested in the wizarding world yet, so maybe it's a good opportunity.
"It's okay to invest, but what's the return?" Although Esther is not a profit-seeking person, he doesn't feel at ease handing over the money casually.
"After making a profit, I will give you a share, and you can try out new products in the store for free." Fred said.
"It's fine to try the new product, I will think you are using me as an experiment." Esther couldn't help being taken aback when he saw the expressions of the two of them showing their plans had been revealed.I was just talking casually, but I didn't expect them to really have this idea.
"Cooperating with the two of you is really risky." Esther hesitated for a while, and took out a bag of gold coins. "This is the prize money from the Triwizard Tournament, and I haven't touched it yet. I planned to stay in the Leaky Cauldron for a while, but it seems that I have to find a place to move. You go to Hogwarts to draw up an investment agreement, use owl Send it to St. Mungo's."
Fred took the gold coin with bright eyes, "Don't worry, Miss Collins, we won't let your money go to waste."
"You will definitely get super value returns." George looked at the bag of Galleons with a smile.
"If you need any potions or raw materials, you can also tell me, but what you make will be [-]% more than what you make yourself. Of course, it is definitely more cost-effective than buying at the potion store." Est added.
"We will consider it, of course it would be better if it is free." The twins said in unison.
"That's impossible." Esther decisively refused the opportunity to be a philanthropist.
They walked for about 10 minutes and arrived at the station.Harry Ron and Ginny had already arrived first.Esther finally got a few minutes alone with Harry before driving.
"I know it's not appropriate to say this, but I have to tell you that it would be a very pleasant thing not to be a prefect in the fifth grade." Esther looked at Harry sincerely and said, "I wanted to resign from the first grade more than once. It's a long job, because you'll find out how painful it is to prepare for the OWLs. Not to mention you have to compete in Quidditch. Take too many things and you will collapse, trust me."
"I've—not cared so much," Harry said gloomily.
"Yeah, I can understand. In seventh grade, I watched my two best friends become the male and female student chairmen, and I also felt like you when I was a prefect." Esther patted Harry on the shoulder, "But They are still my best friends, and I'm happy for them. I think you will too. Remember to send the letter to St. Mungo's, and let me know if the scar hurts." Esther saw Sirius approaching, and hurriedly sent That's it.
Watching the Hogwarts Express gradually disappearing from view, Mrs. Weasley finally couldn't help wiping her eyes.Esther turned her head away and pretended not to notice. She's good at keeping secrets, but seems a bit incapable when it comes to comforting others.
Mr. Weasley decided to return to the Ministry of Magic later and send his wife back to Grimmauld Place to pack her things first.Esther thought about it and went back to St. Mungo's first, and went to look for that thing when there was no one at night.
She first went to Florin Fusco's ice cream shop in Diagon Alley to buy an ice cream boat, and planned to bring it to Beavis as a thank-you gift, which could be regarded as proof that she had gone to Diagon Alley.
Back at St. Mungo's, she handed Bivis the gift box with the Freezing Charm on it. "Thank you for your help, I don't know if you like sweets or not."
"You don't have to be so polite," Bivis took the gift box in a gentlemanly manner, "Thank you so much for keeping it so well. Want to eat together?"
"No, this is specially prepared for you." Esther politely declined Bivis' invitation, "I want to ask if the therapist can live in St. Mungo?"
"Of course, if that's what you want. But most people still prefer to live at home." Beavis asked somewhat puzzled, "Miss Collins doesn't have a place to live now?"
"I've been living in the Leaky Cauldron before, and now that I'm employed, I wonder if I can move here." Esther replied.
"If you don't mind, you can rent with me. I live in a big house." Bivis said friendly.
Esther did not accept Bivis' invitation, "I think it's good to live in St. Mungo's. I'm used to living in Hogwarts, and I like the feeling of being in a dormitory."
"Okay then, I'll apply for a dormitory for you." Bivis said, writing a line on the parchment. With a flick of his wand, the parchment folded itself into a plane and flew out of the office, disappearing.
Esther received a key just before leaving get off work. There is a note hanging on the key with several numbers 7-19 written on it.
Esther returned to the Leaky Cauldron, checked out her room, and returned to St. Mungo's with her luggage.St. Mungo's at night was not easy, and new patients came to see the doctor one after another. The therapists on the night shift shuttled between the wards and the reception rooms, hurrying.Esther carefully floated the luggage up to the seventh floor, walked through a long series of rooms, and found the door with the number 19 on it.
The room is not very big but well equipped with a small bathroom.Esther walked to the window, and there was a back alley below, dark but quiet.Esther opened the window to let the outside air in, and waved her wand to let the items in the box go to the right place by themselves. Then she added a layer of protection to the room with a charm that Snape had taught her.
She looked at the newly furnished small room with satisfaction. Although she couldn't call it home, she finally had a place to stay.
