Harriet Potter
Chapter 23
Despite his determination to catch Malfoy, things never turned around.Malfoy still regularly disappears into the Room of Requirement, Goyle and Crabbe keep watch outside, and I still haven't thought of a request that would make the room open for me too.
From February to March, there is no change in the weather, except that it is humid and windy. There was a notice posted on all the common room notice boards that the trip to Hogsmeade had been cancelled, and everyone was upset, Ron pissed off.
"It's my birthday! I've been looking forward to it!"
"Not particularly surprising, is it?" I said, "after what happened to Katie."
Katie has not yet returned from St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries and Injuries. And the Daily Prophet has reported new disappearances, including relatives of several Hogwarts students.
"Now all I can look forward to is a boring Apparition!" said Ron despondently.
After three classes, Apparition is still so difficult, but there are a few people who do it separately.Frustration was building, and the students had developed a lot of resistance to Wikitacross and his three D's, leading him to be nicknamed variously, the most polite of which were Dog Fart and Dunghead.
On the morning of March [-]st, Hermione called me up early again. I stuffed the gift for Ron into my bag and wanted to ask her to go to Ron's bedroom with me, but she just shook her head and smiled mysteriously. Went downstairs for breakfast.
"Happy birthday, Ron," he said, throwing the paper package on Ron's bed, among a small pile of packages that the house-elf had presumably delivered in the night. "A present for you."
"Same joy, same joy." Ron said in a daze.
I fumbled through the Marauder's Map while he unwrapped the paper bag, trying to get another look at Malfoy's movements. The map was under the weight of the book that was stuffed in this morning. I emptied the book on Ron's bed, then spread the map and tapped it with my wand: "I solemnly swear that I will do no good."
"Brilliant, Harry!" Ron exclaimed excitedly, waving the Quidditch Keeper's gloves.
"Small." I said absent-mindedly, pointing my finger at several places Malfoy frequented on the map one by one, "Not in the dormitory, not in the common room, not in the auditorium either—there are too many people here..."
Ron didn't answer. He was unwrapping presents, and he let out happy yells from time to time.Snape poked me when I checked into his office, "Hey, don't you eat this stuff?"
"What?" I looked up and saw that he was holding a piece of Honeydukes' hazelnut chocolate in his hand. It must have been bought the last time I went to Hogsmeade, and it was left behind in the corner of my schoolbag. The bag was crumpled and the chocolate had clearly been crushed by the contents of the bag. "Don't eat it. I suggest you don't eat it either. It's probably past its expiration date."
"What's that? Muggle stuff?" Ron had already torn open the chocolate wrapper, and while he was eating, he went on boasting about the watch his parents gave him, and talking about being an adult again next year.
I turned my gaze back to the Marauder's Map, and finally confirmed that Malfoy had disappeared again, and it was strange that Crabbe and Goyle weren't standing guard outside the Room of Requirement this time—did they quit?Or are there other places in the castle that the Marauder's Map doesn't show?I said "The prank is over", put away my things in bewilderment, greeted Ron and went out.
When I was almost at the door of the dormitory, I found that Ron hadn't moved yet, but was leaning on the bedpost, staring at the rain-washed windows with a strange blank expression on his face.
"Ron, have breakfast."
"I'm not hungry."
I glared at him, it's not every day you hear that from Ron. "You were so hungry just now that you even ate the chocolate that I may have kept for months."
"Oh, well, I'll go down with you," Ron sighed, "but I don't want to eat."
I looked at him. "The chocolate is broken, isn't it?"
"That's not the case," Ron sighed again, "You...you don't understand."
"Forget it." I said and turned to open the door.
"Harry!" Ron called suddenly.
"what?"
"Harry, I can't stand it!"
"What can't you stand?" I was startled to see that Ron was very pale, as if ill.
"I can't miss him!" said Ron hoarsely.
For a moment I thought he was talking about Hermione, but—"Him?"
"I don't think he knows I exist." Ron said, waving his hands in despair.
"Who are you talking about?" I asked.
"Lion Griffin!" Ron said softly, his whole face was shining, as if illuminated by the purest sunlight.
We looked at each other for about a minute before I said, "This is a joke, right?"
"I think... Harry, I think I love him," said Ron in a strange voice.
"You love..." I gaped, staring at Ron's tender, distressed, joyful, longing face.God.
Ron grabbed my shoulders and brought his face close to my eyes, "I love him, did you hear that? His rebellious expression, his angular cheekbones—"
There was a sudden gasp from the door, and I turned around to see Hermione clutching the doorknob with the expression on her face that her worst nightmare had come true.
"Help me!" I yelled. "There's something wrong with Ron!"
Before Hermione could react, Ron suddenly pushed me away, trying indiscriminately to put the two shoes on his feet that didn't match, and put them on backwards. "I have to see him, my love for him is almost suffocating, I can't..."
Hermione walked up to us, looking totally bewildered. "He's going to see—?"
"Lion Griffin," I said, completely at a loss how to describe what happened without being so ridiculous, "He seems to be madly in love with him all of a sudden, I don't know how—"
"Look at me, Ron." Hermione knelt down and looked at Ron's face carefully. The latter froze when he saw her, and suddenly struggled desperately, "Hermione, no! I'm going to see him, I want -"
He pounded his fist on his head, and I grabbed his hand, but Hermione pulled away quickly. It's almost impossible for me to control the crazy Ron alone.
"Hermione! Something's wrong with him! Help me! I think he's hit—"
"You sweeten every breath I take," said Hermione suddenly.
"My God, don't even you—" I put my knee on Ron's stomach and turned my head, only to see Hermione sniffing carefully at the wrapper of the chocolate bar just now, and she threw a card in front of me.
You sweeten every breath I take. ——LKG
"The love potion, it's probably been on for a long time. The longer you leave it, the stronger it will be." Hermione said, and came to help me, and when Ron touched her, he twitched like he was burned, Almost knocked us both off, "Where did this thing come from?"
"I don't know!" I shouted over Ron's voice of undying admiration. "I've never been near a Griffin! Last time I saw him—oh!" I came to my senses, "Old Slug Before the party! He bumped into me in the hallway and must have slipped chocolates into my bag at that time—”
But Ron seemed to only hear one word. "Griffin! You were talking about Leon? Harry—you know him? Can you introduce me?"
He grabbed me again, and I looked helplessly at Hermione, who was staring at Ron with an expression I knew so well, and I could almost hear her brain beating wildly.
"Can you make an antidote?" I asked.
"It might have been possible, but he's eaten all the chocolate, and I don't know what kind of chocolate is in it," said Hermione anxiously. "The safest thing to do is to wait for the effects to wear off—"
"— who knows what he's going to do all this time?" I said, and Ron began to beat himself again. "Is this a normal reaction?"
"No. Even an expired love potion doesn't cause self-harm, I think it's because it's in conflict with his..." said Hermione, and Ron struggled more every time she spoke, She had to stay away from both of us.
"Congratulations, it looks like he really loves you - ouch!" I exclaimed in despair, as Ron elbowed me on the jaw, "And now what?"
"Tell him about Leon Griff's office in Slughorn!" said Hermione.
"What—?" I understood all of a sudden, "Ron! Ron, listen to me, Griffin is in Slughorn's office right now, and I'll take you to him, okay? You have to wear Gotta straighten up—”
"I'll go first!" Hermione ran out of the room.
I helped Ron into a pair of socks and shoes, assured him he looked handsome, and led him out of the dormitory and across the common room. The people inside had probably seen Hermione scurrying past before, and there was a little murmur at the presence of Ron and I, but I couldn't care less at the moment.
Hermione opened the door for us, and then she hid behind it so Ron couldn't see it, who obviously wasn't paying attention either.Ron immediately started looking for Griffin around the house, and I followed him into the hot, crowded study, where Slughorn was juggling a lot of bottles and jars.
"Professor! How long will it take—"
"I can't see him, Harry - is he hiding him?" Ron whined.
"He'll be right here, lad." Slughorn approached with a crystal flask. "Drink it. It's a tonic and will keep you calm when he comes."
"Great." Ron said impatiently, gulping down the antidote.
Me, Slughorn, and Hermione, who crept up behind him, watched him.For a moment, Ron looked at us with a grin, then his grin slowly faded to utter terror.
"Back to normal?" I asked with a grin, and Slughorn grinned too.
"Thank you very much, Professor," said Hermione, smiling, and kissed Ron.I'm a little surprised that she rarely does this in front of other people. "We'll have to talk about that later, Ron."
Ron sank into the armchair next to him, frostbitten.
"You're welcome, my boy," said Slughorn, hurrying to a table covered with drinks. "I have butterbeer, wine, and a last bottle of oak-aged mead. I was going to It was Dumbledore's Christmas present, but he didn't know anyway, did he? Well... why don't we open it up and celebrate Mr. Weasley's birthday? Nothing beats the pain of disillusionment like a glass liquor……"
He laughed again and I laughed too, realizing this was an opportunity. This is the first time since the last disastrous trial that Slughorn and I have been in an empty space at the same time, Ron and Hermione will help me, maybe we can keep Slughorn well Mood, drink enough mead—
"Come on," said Slughorn, handing us each a glass of mead, holding up our glasses, "Happy birthday, Ralph—"
"—Ron—" I whispered, but neither Slughorn nor Ron heard.Slughorn was still toasting, and Ron had already swallowed the whole glass with his neck thrown back. The next second, I suddenly felt that something was terribly wrong.
"Ron!" Hermione screamed.
Ron dropped his glass and tried to get up from his chair, but fell over. His limbs convulsed violently, foaming at the mouth, and his eyes protruded.
"Professor!" I yelled, "Hermione! Figure it out!"
But Slughorn was petrified, and Hermione grabbed Ron's hand and called his name in horror.Ron was twitching, breathing hard, his skin starting to turn blue.
"How—but—" Slughorn stammered.
"Bezoar!" I rushed to Slughorn's dispensing bag and dumped the contents on the table. "Where did you put it?!"
"Here comes the bezoar!" cried Hermione, pulling out her wand, and a small rock whizzed towards her from the jars in front of me. She caught it and with me pried open Ron's mouth and stuffed it in. Ron's throat.
Ron trembled violently, Gululu took a deep breath, and his body became limp.
